We were at SW yesterday, and even though it felt like we had the park to ourselves, Shamu stadium was full (as in they closed the doors) 25 minutes before the show. We have platumium passess and are accostomed to being able to get seats 15 minutes before a show on a busy day, and that was not the case this week.

Be warned if One Ocean is a must do, you need to be there the recommended 45 minutes early, at least.

I'm assuming that means you were trying to get to the 1230 show and not the 630 show?

This happens because they have only two shows for the day, and the first one isn't until the afternoon. So, everyone that is in the park goes to that first one because they've already seen a good portion of the park. This happened before the show changed to One Ocean.

That's also probably why you felt you had the park to yourself; because everyone that was in the park, was at that show.

Just because you're platinum pass holders, doesn't guarantee you reserved seats, you still have to arrive early, it is a first come first serve basis.

Typically, the 6:30 show is pretty empty and if you arrive 15 minutes early, you should have been fine for that.

This was our experience last week. The guy at the Information desk told us "everyone" will go to the 12:30 show so we should see if the 6:30 worked for us. We decided to take his advice since we were planning on staying the entire day anyway.

At 12:15, while we were eating lunch in an empty Spice Mill restaurant, they made an announcement that the 12:30 OO show was at capacity. The 6:30 show was only about 1/4 full.

Definitely heed the OP's warning if there are only 2 shows when you go. If you must see the 12:30 show, get there 30-45 minutes before.

I highly recommend the 6:30 show. It was nice to have our pick of seats and to have a little personal space. We saw C&S at 2:15, BH at 4 and OO at 6:30. There was a little backtracking involved but not too much.

When we went a couple weeks ago on a Saturday, we saw the 3:30pm One Ocean show and we got there 40 minutes early and Shamu stadium was already half full. I was amazed at how full it ended up being by show time. Well worth the wait though.

I agree 100% - that's a great tip. When we were there earlier this month, they were announcing that the stadium was at capacity a full hour before the show was even scheduled to start!

It was definitely a don't-miss, though! :thumbsup2

thank you. good to know. we will be there next week and will plan accordingly :)

Does anyone have a clue what the show times would be the week after Thanksgiving? From what I can see the park closes at 7pm

The schedule for that time will be released mid to late October. Most likely late October. You should not only have a "One Ocean" day show, but you will also have the night show "Shamu Christmas Miracles"
