"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

Le Cellier :cloud9: that place is amazing! I don't eat beef but Chris said he had the best steak of his life there! Soooo good!

I hope your headache went away after your nap! I'm like Brandon though, I hit a bed and I'm asleep within minutes lol

Can't wait to hear about and see the 40th anniversary fireworks!!

I am so sorry you were plagued by headaches this trip! At least you could still enjoy your lunch, which looks delicious!!
When I was there during F&W, the booths in the UK always were the longest. I guess beer seems like a refreshing choice on a hot day!

Your meal looked so good!!!! I saw earlier that they had a dinner ADR tonight for Le Cellier. I wonder if it's easy to get dinner these days since the prices are nuts!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was crazy to attend the 40th Anniversary at MK!

That stinks that you got another headache and couldnt drink your slush!!!

Those stuffed moose heads look adorable! I don't see anything wrong with having one ;)

I LOVE Le Cellier! We always ask for only pretzel bread lol and their steak is delicious!!!

I love towel animals!!! :) That elephant was too cute!

Ugh, I know, you would think I'd know how to prevent headaches by now! I guess not going on RnRC would be one way to not get one, but it's so much fun!

LOL maybe I will get a small stuffed moose head someday...I'm glad I know they are there now!

As much as I'd like to eat tons of that pretzel bread, I only eat half, it's so filling! :rotfl:

Jen, so sorry your headache was lingering from RnR (this is the reason I do NOT ride it anymore), and so sorry you could not drink your Slush. Those booths looks way crowded (I'm not sure I could deal with that just for food).

Looking forward to the 40th anniversary update.

I don't know what it is about RnRC, because I went on it later in the week and I was fine! :confused3 The booths were pretty crowded that day! F&W is not really that much fun on the weekends!

Yay on your extra December day, but I hope Brandon can handle all the walking okay with his foot injury!

For what it's worth, we were in the Tramp building on our last trip, a few doors past Tramp, facing the bowling pin pool (4th floor). I believe that we were just a few doors down from the preferred rooms (other side of Tramp). I don't recall there being much pool noise, plus, depending on your December weather, it may be pretty quiet. However, I took a walk around the 4th floor of our building and realized that the back half was beautiful and private and quiet. So, see if you can get (or request) something facing opposite the bowling pin pool (towards the lake), since I'm sure many of those are preferred rooms. We could even see Spaceship Earth and Tower of Terror from some of the areas! The wing that juts out towards the lake seemed like a good place to be (unless there is construction noise from the new suites, but I didn't hear anything)!

Just wanted to confirm that, yes, the Tables in Wonderland card works at the Pop food court. Just remember to use it! (for some reason, we found it harder to remember it when we weren't sitting down for a meal). Also, it's great to have if you plan on getting any drinks or appetizers at TS restaurants. We used it for our Year of Disney and it way more than paid for itself. Also, don't forget that they automatically include tip when you use it (we accidentally double-tipped the first time we used it).

Sorry you didn't get to drink your Cosmo Slush because of the headache! Those moose heads are super cute! You definitely need to check out the France bakery sometime! I think I had that smoothie at Le Cellier once too...I think it was pretty good. Can't wait to hear about your MK night for the 40th!

Haha, I'm hoping Brandon is ok with his foot injury, but it was injured when we were there in October, and honestly, I think I complained more about my feet hurting than he did! He said it hurt, but there was nothing he could do, so why complain about it? :confused3

I would love to be in one of the lake view rooms, but I'm not sure they are preferred. We're not really going to be in the room much, so I'm hoping noise isn't an issue. If it is, we'll just ask to move!

I'm glad to hear the TiW card is accepted at Pop, that will be helpful! It's going to be so weird not doing the dining plan, but I like that the TiW card includes a tip and you can get discounts on appetizers and alcohol!

I am definitely going to TRY to get something from the France bakery on this trip! It seems like every time I walk past it, it's really busy, so maybe I can find a time where it's not so bad!

Le Cellier :cloud9: that place is amazing! I don't eat beef but Chris said he had the best steak of his life there! Soooo good!

I love Le Cellier! I'm actually kind of sad that we're not going during our December trip. I keep trying for a lunch ADR and nope, all booked up!

My headache did go away after my nap, it wasn't a bad one, like the first night! I wish I could go to sleep as soon as we got back to the room! But it's like I need to unwind a little first, and by the time I do, he's already snoring away!

I am so sorry you were plagued by headaches this trip! At least you could still enjoy your lunch, which looks delicious!!
When I was there during F&W, the booths in the UK always were the longest. I guess beer seems like a refreshing choice on a hot day!

Haha, me too! Although, I get headaches all the time, I really think I need to wear my glasses more.

Le Cellier was awesome! I thought I took more pictures, but I guess that was later in the week!

The UK booths always had such long lines! Especially Ireland! I wanted to try something from there, the Bailey's cake I think, and I didn't even bother because I didn't want to wait in the line!

I sometimes check for Le Cellier dinner ADR's and when I do, they are always booked! I think it's still as popular, which is crazy! I have no interest in going there for dinner anymore, not without the cream cheese mashed potatoes!

The 40th was a lot of fun! I wish we went earlier in the day! :yay:

P1000369.jpg

The cranberry bog was just weird. No other word for it other than weird.

I sat on the fountain (which was not on, by the way, I don't know why it was off so much during our trip, it seemed to only be on at night!) and waited for Brandon and he finally returned with my slush and some escargot. I took one sip of my slush and handed it to Brandon and said "well, I can't drink this now." My head was hurting a little more, and I was so paranoid of having a repeat of that migraine from the first night, I thought alcohol was a bad choice. Since it was half melted already from it being 10 million degrees that afternoon, Brandon chugged it. :confused3 I told him that's not how you're supposed to drink those slushes, you're supposed to sip! He just shrugged and told me he didn't want to carry around the glass that it comes in.

Boo, that sucks that you couldn't drink the cosmo slushie. That's my new happy place at WDW: Wandering the WS sipping (or gulping) a Parisian Cosmo Slushie. It was maybe my favorite thing at F&W. :cloud9:

We checked in and only waited a few minutes before we were seated. Since I couldn't drink I got a Red Maple, which is a raspberry smoothie mixed with Sprite. I think I actually said I wasn't going to get the cheddar cheese soup and for a minute I believed myself...but once the server came back to take our orders, the words just came out of my mouth and I got a bowl of it. Not even a cup, a bowl! I didn't want to be stuffed all day, but you can't pass up that soup!

Brandon and I got the same entree, the mushroom filet:

P1000383.jpg

It was so good. :cool1: I seriously don't understand people who say this place is overrated. I guess maybe I haven't had a good steak in my life, because to me, these are some of the best.
Sounds like a perfect lunch at Le Cellier. That's what we had there (soup/mushroom fillet), everything was sooooo good. Can't wait to go back in March!

That's the one thing that I dislike about when it's hot. My slushie drinks melt immediately! And I don't get to enjoy the slushie goodness.

Too bad to missed the cosmo slushie. I understand your fear of making the headache worse. I think it depends sometimes whether or not alcohol will make it better. I've had a mixed bag with that.

Great update! Ugh, I'm sorry to hear your head was still hurting. I think skipping the alcohol was probably a good choice.

I love moose too! John was stationed at Fort Richardson for three years, which is in Anchorage, AK. I went up there to visit him three times and I saw moose everywhere, every single time! It's like you go to Alaska and the moose are just chilling in the Wal Mart parking lot or something. I loved it!

Mmmm....Le Cellier looks so good. We are FINALLY going to eat there on our next trip! I can't wait to try that soup!

Wasn't it a little strange? I mean, it was interesting, but it was in a weird place! :rotfl:

I love that slushie! I love it more than the lemon and orange one, I'm so upset they don't have them year round! Oh well, just another excuse to go back to F&W! :thumbsup2

I love Le Cellier! I could live on that soup! :lovestruc

Haha, it's annoying not to be able to enjoy the slushie goodness! I actually don't mind them when they're a little melted, because I can drink faster that way, it takes me forever to drink a real frozen drink! But it was pointless that day, because of my stupid headache! :confused3

It was hurting from RnRC! I'm seriously wondering if I'm going to bother going on it at all when we go back I really don't feel like risking a headache...then again, it's so much fun! :woohoo:

AHHHH, I want to go to Alaska SO badly! :lovestruc I'm seriously thinking of doing a Disney Alaska cruise, I am reading a Disney Alaska cruise TR now and the pictures from it are AMAZING! And I really need to see a moose in real life. You can see them if you go up into Maine, or Vermont, but I've been to the highest point in Maine before you're in Canada, and have still not seen a moose. :sad2:

Yay I'm so glad you're going to Le Cellier! In December? How did you manage to get that ADR? :worship: I can't wait to hear how you liked it! :goodvibes I can't believe I'm going to miss you in Disney by like 2 weeks. Ugh. :rotfl:

Those Fireworks were Different?

Saturday, 10/1

I can't believe I've been doing writing this TR for almost 2 months and I'm just about to finish up day 3! I feel like this TR has been dragging, I don't know why, I like to drag them out, but this one feels different! Maybe because I know I still have 7 more days! And it seems like I'm losing readers left and right, which is so upsetting! :sad1: I promise, I will try to update more and be more entertaining! :upsidedow

Anyway, I left off with Brandon and I napping at WL. I am not sure how long we slept for, but we didn't get down to the boat until around 7. After waiting a little while, we got on the boat, and had such an awesome Captain! He was so entertaining, he just talked to us the whole ride over to MK, pointed out that the sky was red, which meant another beautiful day tomorrow, and said not to miss the fireworks, because he's heard they're going to "blow up the sky!" :woohoo: I love CM's who really love their jobs!

It was about 7:30 when we arrived at the Magic Kingdom, and we noticed right away it was pretty crowded, but it didn't really seem worse than the night before, at the sold out Halloween party. We went in, got our special 40th anniversary maps, and made our way over to Tomorrowland!

P1000386.jpg

Couldn't you just listen to the Tomorrowland music loop for hours? :lovestruc

Anyway, we were planning to have a quick dinner and then get a spot for the fireworks, so we went to Cosmic Rays, which we had never been to before. Brandon went to order and I got us a place to sit, near a window so we could look out at, well, other people eating outside. Still, you could kind of have a nice view of Tomorrowland if you ignored all the other stuff in the way. :rotfl:

A CM who worked there noticed that Brandon liked the Red Sox when we walked in, so she chatted with me about baseball while he was ordering. She kept telling me that she liked the Phillies. Over and over. She was very nice, but weird...like, lady, I get it, you like the Phillies...she was acting like the Phillies and Red Sox have some rivalry, which they don't, but I played along and acted like we were supposed to be enemies, which I think is what she wanted! Don't get the wrong idea, I was happy to chat with her, but I just thought it was weird how many times she told me she liked the Phillies! :rotfl:

Anyway, Brandon came back with our food

P1000388.jpg

which was so yummy! I got the half rotisserie chicken and he got the pork sandwich. My chicken was fantastic, and the mashed potatoes were so good! The green beans were even good, and I don't like green beans...probably because they were Disney green beans!

We finished up and figured we should find a spot for the fireworks, even if it was a little early. I kept thinking about the night before, what a mod scene the fireworks were, and was hoping to avoid that. We found a pretty decent spot over to the right of the castle, just over the bridge from Tomorrowland. There were a good amount of people standing there, but it seemed like most of the people were huddled in the middle and to left, towards Adventureland.

We just stood there for a little while and waited for the Magic, the Memories, and You to start! I couldn't wait to see this show, I kept reading how great it was on the DIS so I was excited to see it in person!

It was AMAZING!!! OMG, I cried, and I think Brandon actually got a little teary too! He wasn't really sure what to expect at first, and then I noticed he took out his phone and started recording...I can always tell when he really likes things at Disney, because he takes video! :rotfl2:

Here are a few pictures from the Magic, the Memories, and You:

P1000401.jpg

I can't stress enough how in love with this show I was! The things they can do with that castle...:wizard:

Soon it was time for the extra special, 40th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom fireworks! Yayy!!!

Of course, I didn't want to take lots of pictures, and of course, I did, so here are a few of those:

P1000407.jpg

P1000411.jpg

P1000419.jpg

P1000425.jpg

They were amazing, as always and I definitely noticed more fireworks around the park, but...that was it?

Me-"Ummm...those fireworks were different?"

Brandon-"Not really, but there were more of them."

Me-"Oh. I guess I was expecting something different. A new song or something."

I just thought maybe there might be some additions to the already perfect Wishes. I suppose you can't mess with perfection, though!

So when the fireworks were over, I was assuming things would be chaotic like the night before. I knew there was no way we were going to cross over the Hub and get into Adventureland or Liberty Square, so we opted to go back into Tomorrowland. It turned out to be a smart choice, people were moving pretty quickly, and it seemed like there was some order and not just people standing around not moving! Before I knew it, we were in Tomorrowland!

Since there were still FP's left for Space Mountain, we grabbed some, and then wanted to walk over to Fronteirland.

We thought about going on Pooh, but decided against it. I don't remember why, maybe the wait was too long. The tree looked pretty at night, though.

P1000426.jpg

Brandon then decided that would be a good spot to stop and fix his shoes (I think something was stuck in them, I don't remember! I have a picture of him sitting on the ground with his shoes off, but it's a horrible picture!) so I took a picture of the lovely new Fantasyland:

P1000428.jpg

I seriously cannot wait!

We were finally walking again, and I wanted to do something I knew people on the DIS loved...riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night! So we got in line and I think it was maybe a 30 minute wait? It was pretty long for that late at night, but the line moved quickly.

P1000432.jpg

P1000433.jpg

We finally were ready to ride, and I honestly wasn't expecting much, but it was awesome! It it so much better in the dark, it's like a different ride! I will definitely be doing that again!

We walked over to Splash to see if it was running, and it seemed like the logs were going down the hill, but no one was on them...although, I didn't have my glasses on, but it seemed pretty quiet!

P1000436.jpg

Huh. Splash is creepy at night!

We then noticed there was a camera bag hanging on the bridge over Splash. Brandon picked it up and looked around to see if someone looked like, I don't know, like they were obviously missing a camera  and when no one fit that description, he looked inside. There was a very nice camera, memory cards, KTTW cards, credit cards...this poor guy's (I think his name was Peter, although, I could be making that up) whole vacation was in that bag!

We couldn't just leave it, so we decided to bring it to lost and found. Only problem was, we didn't know where that was. We assumed it was on or near Main Street so we headed that way.

We made it to the Emporium, so we went in to ask someone where lost and found was. We asked a really, really nice CM who thanked us a million times for bringing it there, and he actually took the bag from us, brought it to his manager, who said he might be able to contact the resort the person was staying in. The CM asked us our names and thanked us a million more times!

Even though we had those Space Mountain FP's, we were getting really tired and didn't feel like walking all the way back to Tomorrowland, so we decided to leave. I tried to trade my Big Baby Vinylmation but I didn't get anything I liked, so I just kept Big Baby, hoping that I'd have better luck tomorrow.

We decided not to even try the boat and hopped on the bus back to WL. We quickly arrived back at WL and got right into bed. 3 parks in one day is tiring! I'm so glad we were able to be a part of the 40th anniversary, even if we did miss all the craziness of the morning, we still did get to see some of it! It was a fun day, but we had to get some sleep...we had another busy day coming up tomorrow!

Up next...will I FINALLY meet Eeyore at Crystal Palace???

I'm SOOOOO sorry I've fallen behind. I've been really busy and have had nearly no time to be able to get on here, so now I'm catching up. I'll go chapter by chapter, hopefully that will get me catched up quickly.

YAY! Off to Wilderness Lodge, my dream resort :cloud9: I've really wanted to stay there ever since I started checking out more Disney resorts. It looks so nice and I can't believe the security guard said "Welcome Home", I've never heard of them ever doing that though I've only been on the ME buses so far, but still that's awesome they do :teeth:

I'm sorry to hear Brandon didn't really like CSR. It looks really nice, especially for a moderate, I think it measures up well to most Deluxe resorts based on room size and the style of the place, but it does seem fairly big, which may be something people wouldn't like. I'll have to take that into account if I ever decide to stay there :thumbsup2

Oh, the Grand Floridian really does seem like the only Deluxe resort sometimes. I mean, especially with the lobby, there are so little hotels that have grand foyers. Then, for them to have princesses wandering the halls on their own, that just makes it so much better than it already was. Though... I still will probably end up staying in the Poly over the GF :rolleyes1

Good thing you went back to WL when you did or you probably would've not had time to get ready for your MNSSHP that night. Hopefully other people weren't held back by the glitch in the system as well, definitely not a good start to a stay at the lovely Wilderness Lodge.

Can't wait to read about your first MNSSHP! :mickeyjum

I really wish we had gone to Tomorrowland like you had!!!! Our choice was not so smart!!!! I'm glad you had a better time than I did!! :)

Don't worry I won't leave you and your report :goodvibes
It doesnt feel like its dragging out on the readers end so dont worry!!

Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!! I am jealous, neither of our cameras would take a good night time picture of the castle lit up!! Even though the fireworks werent much different its cool knowing you were there for the 40th!

I loved the show on the castle as well, we were sort of far away though so next time Id like to see it up close!

I agree we rode Big Thunder at night time and it felt like a whole new ride, so cool!!

How nice of you guys to bring that bag to lost and found, I hope the owner got it back, that would be terrible to lose all that stuff!

Wow....yes, very different from my experience! I think you were in a good spot to escape into a less crowded area. Like I said in my TR, once I got to Adventureland, it was pretty much empty but we were all just STUCK in the spot in front of Crystal Palace and it was pure chaos!

I cant' BELIEVE you were able to score 40th maps that late at night! I thought for sure they were all gone by the morning.

That was so great of you guys to bring the camera to the lost and found. I'm sure that person was VERY thankful for that!

Wow, how great that you guys were the ones that found that camera bag! If that was me, I would have been so immensely grateful that someone turned it in to lost and found.

Don't worry dear. You're not losing readers. At least you'll never lose this one.

I love Wishes. :cloud9: I keep thinking about the song. Just love it. I have it on my iPod and just love listening to it. I actually just managed to snag the dessert party for January. I'm so excited to see it with someone that's never seen it before.

I always know when my husband likes something in WDW b/c he takes video/pictures, too! :lmao: I was seriously LOL!

You're pictures are great. We were able to find a pretty great spot for the fireworks and we muddled our way to Tomorrowland after the fireworks.

I'm so bummed we never ran into you! Are you guys planning on going next fall?

Looks like you guys chose a great spot for the show/fireworks! I've never eaten at Cosmic Rays, but it does look really good!

Great update Jen!

I know the feeling about thinking you are losing readers. I think there are always people that sub and never come back. Happens to me all the time and I hate it. But it's life on the DIS boards.

I love your TR and saw your pics before I left for work. You definitely did a great job with your new camera and I love :lovestruc the castle pics. That's such a cool show. I guess they can't do that now with the castle all lit up (or can they????:confused3)

Wonderful evening in the MK. Loved the firework pics. Can't wait to get back there in just a few short weeks! :cool1:

I'm still here too!! Enjoying hearing all about your trip :thumbsup2
Fantastic pictures. Makes me want to be there.
That would have been great if they were able to find the owner of the camera bag.

I LOVE reading your TR! I am not going anywhere:thumbsup2

I can tell you first hand how grateful "Peter" was to have his vacation life stuff back because almost the same thing happened to us on our last trip. Our DD (9) wanted to carry her very own camera this year so we gave her our small digital one. She had in it some very important things (her Tomorrowland license, a few special pins that she didn't want to trade, ok, well, important to her:lmao:) and she left it at dinner at Liberty Tree. Someone, nice, like you, found it, took it Lost and Found and turned it in. She cried all the way the down Main Street because she begged us to let her carry it and then she left it. I was so grateful to whoever picked it up and returned it. People that do the right thing should always get lots of pixie dust:wizard:

What an amazing night being in MK on the 40th!:cloud9:
