One good elevator story and a tip.

That's a great story. I'm glad that kind people are still out there.

I think using the stairs was the only thing that kept me from coming back with an extra 10 lbs! :rotfl2:

No kidding. The last time we were on the boat (no kids) we walked up and down the stairs all the time. Mind you we were on deck 2. My legs were so sore after the first 3 days (that tells you how much out of shape I was... :rotfl:). Back then DH would roll his eyes when I said we should take the elevator... :lmao:

Just wanted to point something out.

Shortly before one cruise I had eye surgery for retinal reattachment in an eye where I had previously had an injury. Because of this I used the elevators.

I’m sure some reading this may be thinking “what does eye surgery have to do with not being able to use the stairs?”

Try this. Go to the bottom stair, not the top one, I don’t want anyone getting hurt. Now take your hand and cover one eye only. Now look down and step down. See how hard it is to judge the distance?

We mostly take the stairs but I could see someone thinking I was being an elevator hog on this trip.

One problem with using the stairs vs. the elevators is that people seem to mistake the stairs for cozy, comfy chairs. It's bad enough to where they ask you at the safety drill not to sit on the stairs during the cruise, but people still do it frequently. That always amazes me; it's not like there aren't plenty of sitting areas on the ship. I generally handle it by saying loudly "Coming through!" and not even slowing down. That kicks in the squatters' self preservation instincts (especially if I am heading down from deck 9 with food and drink in hand) and they get out of the way.

Me too. When cruising, I live by my motto: "Try everything, finish nothing and ALWAYS take the stairs." Fortunately, I am able to do this. I feel for anyone who must use the elevator and has to wait for more than a few minutes.

A couple of strategically dripped drops of soda wouldn't hurt either. :lmao:

We saw a few people sitting on the stairs as well. Don't get it. :confused3

HA HA HA!!!:rotfl: I like you. :lmao:

Thankfully there weren't many people sitting on the steps when I went by but I did see them. If they ahd been taking up the whole stairway I'm sure something would have *slipped* from my yap. :rolleyes1 If they were teens anyway.

Funniest thing happened today too. We went to the Mega Mess (Mall of America to most of you  ) and we went to go up the elevator. Hit the button, no one was waiting and the door opened immediately (it was waiting there) and no one was on it! MOA elevators are huge too AHHHH. Space, glorious space. I think the DCL elevators felt sorry for us and told other elevators to be nice...and so on and so on... :rotfl2:
