So after my near miss with Mary Poppins, and a nice relaxing ride on Snow White, SpeedWalker and I decided to head over to Tomorrowland to see if we could ride his all time favorite ride: Space Mountain. Now at this point, SpeedWalker was on 3 hours of sleep, something you should keep in mind for later.
Ok, so remember that AK moment where we gave up our KS fast passes to a couple walking by? Ready for this? We approach Space Mountain and notice that its a 90 minute line...NO WAY! We were hungry, and theres a lot more we could accomplish in 90 minutes than a line! SO SpeedWalker decides to get FP. I wait for him to return, when a woman approaches the man standing next to me and tells him she has eight (yes, EIGHT!) fast passes for space mountain, but her family is leaving, and offers them to the man. He accepts and I turn to him and I go "can you spare two of those?" He goes, "SURE!" and hands me two fast passes!! Before I can race after SpeedWalker to stop him from getting FP, its too late, and he turns around with FP for 9:50 disappointed that we wont be able to ride because he desperately wants to see Wishes. I show him the new FP, slated for 8:00, and he smiles wider than a child at christmas! I even tell him that we can ride SM after we're done with wishes! He's ecstatic and we continue on our way!
On our way to Buzz, we pass by TTA and I plead to ride, thinking its a boring ride, he "gives in" but as we step into the magic that is the TTA, he relaxes and we both realize it was a great idea. SpeedWalker takes a nap, and I snap away photos!
I love the TTA, it's corny, but its gotta be one of my favorite things to do in the magic kingdom after a long day!
We got off the TTA, and headed into the 30 minute queue for Buzz. While we're on the line, I'm trash talking like its nobodys business. "I'm gonna beat you so bad!" Of course i will, i know all the tips! "You're going down! Wanna put money on it??"
Buzz, unfortunately was the only line that felt like the time posted. Even SM didn't feel like 45 minutes, but even though we moved, I felt as though we really did wait 30 minutes. So when we reached the ride, it was a great accomplishment, and we celebrated our victory with proper excitement. Then all of a sudden, the conveyer belt stopped moving, and we were next to go on! a minute later, it came back on, and we got on the ride, and then it shut off again! They assured us it was fine, and they would have it working, but something was off about what was going on...
But whatever, I had a score to beat, so lets move it!! As we trolleyed around the ride racking up points, I noticed that my score did not compete with SpeedWalkers! He was beating me up!! He had like 5,000 and I had like 2. SO of course, I blamed the raygun, "my raygun isn't working! How do i make it work? Hey, stop! it's not working!" We fought over the lever, "I wanna go this way! I wanna go this way!" Until finally the ride decided for us and we stopped mid-ride, and SpeedWalker totally took the opportunity to gain extra points!
We continued to be stuck, and once SpeedWalker had enough of shooting targets, he decided to tease me and grab the lever and spin it around! The people behind us got a kick out of it as I half laughed and half asked him to stop. He stopped after 2 full circles, but we continued to spin! I told him to stop, and he told me he did! So here we are, rayguns in hand, spinning uncontrollably, and trying to stop, so what does speedwalker do? Shoots targets!! It was quite a picture to see! THE POWER OF CHRIST comPELLS YOU! I shouted at the ride, but to no avail!!
Eventually we did stop, once the ride started moving again, probably about 30 seconds later but it seemed like an eternity! We wound up with this photo:
We don't look dizzy and distraught but we are!! So final scores were something like 203,000 to 4,000...SpeedWalker one, but my raygun was broken! Or something....
After Buzz, we decided to go walk on Main Street a bit to cool down, and collect some souveniers. I ended up buying my mom a magnet, and then went to the confectionary to buy treats for my brother and dad. I made a mental note to appreciate main street more during my upcoming Disney Vacaiton in September. Main Street really is "Disney" to me.
tha back of my head!
After that, we walked back around the castle into Fantasyland, and stopped in the art store, which we both fell in love with and took pictures of!
One of my favorite pics of the trip!!
Being in the art store reminded me that there is so much more to Disney than shows and attractions. It kind of coincides with the Main Street idea, how you can feel the magic just by being present, or in a store such as this one.
After that, we moved towards frontierland to eat at Pecos Bills, but saw that the standby line for IASW was definitely do-able, so we hopped on in!
The view from the line, if you cant see, the standby time is 50 minutes, boy were we glad we had our FP!
When we first got on the ride, SpeedWalkers dad called him telling him that if we go outside we could probably see the shuttle launch! Too bad we were about to embark on a magical tunnel of friendship and love...
I had heard so much about Pecos Bills from the boards and podcasts that I knew I had to eat there for dinner, so off we went!
My reaction to the buffet of toppings: THEY HAVE ONIONS?? ON A GRILL?!
Pecos was definitely a must re-do for my upcoming Sept. trip, it was really, really good, but it could also be that I haven't had a burger and fries in 4 months....I wish i had taken more interior shots, because the dining area was amazing!! We sat right in the area where they have a western house and stuff...and it was crowd-less! amazing!
Since we were so close to Pirates, we decided on a re-do, and rode it again! this time SpeedWalker asking me to take pics, but they didn't come out
After the ride, we stopped for a minute in the shop, so I could take this picture: Before coming here, I had wanted to buy the pirate ears, but decided I would wait for september so my cousin and I could get matching ones (her first trip to disney!) I settled for the picture for now.
We headed towards Fantasyland to ride user our FP for Peter Pan! I love the feeling of "cutting" the standby line, it makes me feel so good for avoiding a wait!! Peter Pan is my favorite Fantasyland attraction, so I was so happy we got to ride it! Can you believe how much we've got done today??
We couldn't get on Dumbo because of the wait times, so we settled for fakies:
The sun was starting to set, and we were approaching our first round of SM FP time! We headed over to Tomorrowland...Not before snapping this picture.
Stay Tuned for: My favorite moment of the day, a true "disney commercial" moment!! Another video of my favorite moment! And the final chapter of this one day report.
Thanks for reading!
