One Day Trip Report! With Lots of Pics & Video! (FINAL CHAPTER..! 7/3!! Pg. 4!)

So a little prelude before we begin. I have a pre-trip report, because i'm going on a super duper, super exciting 10 day trip to Disney in September. This Pre-trip report included shouts of glee from myself after my friend and I decided that we would go to disney for a day! I decided to report that trip over here! It was a great day and i hope that you guys enjoy reading about as i enjoy recalling it. It made me so much more excited for September and i already thought I was pretty darn excited. So lets begin!

So it begins! Lets start with the Cast of Characters, shall we?

DFriend We'll Call him Luke SpeedWalker ("SpeedWalker") Loves all things Disney, gets emotional during Wishes, loves oogling walking princesses, and just enjoying his time while at the world. His favorite ride is Space Mountain, but loves being a Pirate!

Me! We can call me, Nicole..because thats my name, and most people already know it! I loved our little day trip, and it made me more excited for September!

Now on to it!

That morning, I woke up at 4:30AM to await SpeedWalker's arrival at 5:30. The plan was to arrive at Animal Kingdom at rope drop, maximize short lines. The drive from West Palm Beach to Orlando is between 2 1/2 and 3 Hours, and we made it in about 2 hours 45 minutes!

The beginning of 'Happy'

We decided to park at the TTC and take the bus to Animal Kingdom. The wait for the bus took forever!

Finally we were on our way!! We didn't make it to Rope Drop, but we were there around 9:30, not too bad. First stop? EVEREST! SpeedWalker has never been on it, so we practically raced!

We grabbed Fast Passes and got on the 15 minute standby line! Our return time was something like 11:10, perfect! I just love this queue!

SpeedWalker is super excited as we load our train and begin our journey. Screams of glee (Woo!) Can be heard repeatedly out of his mouth as we climb to the top. He has the side with the view of the other parks, and he is in awe of it all! Finally we reach the top and scream all the way until we reach the shadow of the white one. He does his thing, and we sit there. And we continue to sit there. Wait a minute, I say to myself, i don't remember it taking so long. And then it happens! We get that dreaded intercom message. The ride was stuck, and we were stuck on it. SpeedWalker was really dissapointed, his first ride and this! We weren't sure if it would continue or for how long we would be up there in this mountain of death, so we struck up a conversation with Mr. Dad and his Son who had already been on the ride 3 times. Poor SpeedWalker! Finally the dreaded announcement that we would be escorted off the ride came, and after our warning not to take any pictures, well, i took a picture. And Video.

After walking down the incline into the emergency exit where we were greeted with more bad news: We had to walk down 17 flights of stairs! Oh, brother! I just thanked god we weren't on the incline going up, i would be flipping! We walked down the stairs and into the heart of the mountain. Nothing like a bunch of steel bars to ruin the magic. But they handed us "good for anytime" fast passes on our way out, and suddenly things were looking up! 2 Fast Passes!

We went over to Kali and got soaked!!

SpeedWalker didn't think he was wet enough for the June heat..

After Kali we were feeling kind of hungry so we decided to walk back towards Asia, see if Everest was back up and running and then go in search of food.

So will Everest be up and running? Will SpeedWalker finally get to ride the one ride that was the cause of this Animal Kingdom adventure?? Stay tuned to find out!

awww...That's so depressing that you had to get off EE. BTMRR stopped while we were going up the hill and I thought it was awesome b/c of the prolonged expectation (and the great photo opportunities), but it started up again, and then it wasn't my first time.

You're so lucky that you can take a day trip to Disney! I wish I lived close enough to do that!

I was so happy we weren’t stuck on the incline, that would have made me so nervous. I’ll be moving to NY soon, so I’m taking full advantage of living so close, but sometimes it’s a curse knowing youre so close and not being able to do anything about it!

I thought someone might be interested in the video footage i took inside expedition everest. Its only seconds long, but i hope you get a kick out of it!

So as I said before, we proceeded out of africa after securing FP for KS. We decided to head towards DinoLand, to ride SpeedWalker's favorite ride Dinosaur. I made the suggestion that we should pass by Everest to see if it was up and running yet, so we headed into Asia, and passed the water to see some characters on the boat!

We continued on our way, and Yes! Everest was back on! So we used our original FP we had (the one we got before we went on the first ride, not the ultimate fast pass) and SpeedWalker was incredibly excited (and hopeful that this time we would make it all the way through)

Well, We Did! And we have a picture to boot!

Pay close attention to the fact that my hands are up in the air, and SpeedWalkers hands are in a fist of joy and accomplishment. This is a repeated pattern in our ride pictures.

After Everest, we were feeling a bit hungry, and SpeedWalker was feeling overjoyed. He absolutely loved it, as did I, but unlike him I had been on it before, so it was nice to see a reaction from someone who had never been on it! It got me excited for September, when my cousin goes to disney for the first time!

We asked the CM out of the everest shop for the nearest turkey leg stand, and proceeded towards it! It was a little past our DinoLand destination, but it was my first turkey leg and i was excited!

the bird forced us to move! he got really close and freaked me out, so we moved to a nearby bench

And now for something that i consider the highlight of my day:

We finished our Turkey Legs and headed towards DinoLand. On our way, I saw a sign for a meet and greet with Pooh & Friends! I asked SpeedWalker to stop because we hadn't had a character interaction all day, and he was reluctant because he knew he wanted to ride Dinosaur so he asked about the wait, and the CM at the post said it would be about 10 minutes. I gave him a puppy look and he gave in and we walked down the path to see Pooh. I've never taken a liking to Pooh, or his friends, but I wanted to see characters, so off we went!

The pathway to Pooh is what took the 10 minutes, there were 2 families in front of us, but the line to see all 3 characters moved fairly quickly. First was Pooh!

Next was Tigger:

After Tigger there seemed to be a buildup in the line for Eeyore, so a nervous & anxious SpeedWalker asked if we could skip Eeyore, and I said it was okay, i got my character fix, but the line buildup wasn't for Eeyore and the PhotoPass CM asked if we were next so we stopped for poor Eeyore, i felt bad for him.

and now for one of the highlights of the entire day. As we exited the area that the characters were in, we walked the long pathway up to the rest of the park. All of a sudden, i felt a presence behind me: It was Tigger! After he saw me acknowledge him, (I think i said something like HI TIGGER!) he grabbed my arm and we skipped about halfway up the path! (where he had to exit) It had to be one of the most magical things that has ever happened to me at Disney! Tigger has now added himself to the list as one of my favorite Disney characters, and now I may want to eat at Crystal Palace! Here is a picture of the moment, it's blurry but I love it none the less.

All in all a great character experience at Animal Kingdom!

At this point I was on and SpeedWalker practically had to grab me as we raced to DinoLand for the much anticipated Dinosaur. It was around 12PM and I didn't have much hope for a short line. I remembered walking past Nemo to a line that had to be 40ft long! I was nervous. So was SpeedWalker. Would he get to ride his ride??

Thanks to all who have continued to read! I have had fun reliving the day!

So when we left off we were unsure about Dinosaur. It's SpeedWalker's favorite ride, and he was determined to get on it. Plus, we had the EE ultimate fast pass burning a whole in our pockets, and thoughts of that huge castle waiting for us at Magic Kingdom kept our feet moving faster than I thought they could!

We walked through DinoLand, and SpeedWalker decided to give me a lesson on every dinosaur statue we passed.

SpeedWalker: Know what Dinosaur that is?
Me:
SpeedWalker: That's a brachiosaurus!
Me: Super!
SpeedWalker: See that dinosaur?
Me: Indeed, I do.
SpeedWalker: That's A ______
Me: Fantastic. Oh Look! Dinosaur, the ride!
SpeedWalker:

We approached the standby line, which I was halfway immersed into, when SpeedWalker thought we should grab a fastpass so we could do a double ride. Sounds good, but our Killiminjaro Safari FP didn't allow us that pleasure, so we had no choice but to wait Standby for the 30 minute projected wait. No biggie, only our first real wait of the day.

We had a blast on Dinosaur, and I was upset we couldn't maximize the double ride idea, there's always next time though.

I love our expression: "Ooohh Amaaazing.."

After Dinosaur, SpeedWalker maximized what he called his "New Jersey Mall Frogger Skills" to help us high-tail it to Asia, so we could use our EE FP, and KS FP and then head to Magic Kingdom.

We approached EE to find that it was once again down for the day. Womp Womp Womp. So much disappointment. SpeedWalker was really upset and wanted to stay as long as possible to wait for it to come back up. We moseyed into the gift shop, which held our attention for 5 minutes.

After that we sat around the rock formation that overlooked the attraction and waited. And waited. And took some pictures. And waited some more.

Finally, we walked over to the entrance, and at this point it had started to rain, and waited over there. We stood and watched as every 5 seconds someone came up to the "attractioneers" and it went like this

Guest: It's Closed?
Attractioneer: Yes and we don't know when it will be back up.
Guest: Is it closed because of the rain?
Attractioneer: It's experiencing technical difficulties right now.
Guest: Do you have an estimate?
Attractioneer: No, Sorry.
Guest: (Looking at the Standby sign) Will it be 50 minutes?
Attractioneer: We don't know when it will come back
Guest: Can I use my Fast Pass?
Attractioneer: Yes we will honor all Fast Passes.

This was the same conversation over and over and over again. I honestly would have shot someone at this point, because they had to keep repeating themselves over and over! I felt so bad.

Apparently at one point, Kali must have closed too because a couple of guests got angry because "everything in the park was closed"

Eventually, SpeedWalker and I had to give up, and eventually slowly walked away towards Africa to use our KS Fast Passes.

On the way, we decided at this point we should start to head towards MK. But what to do with the Fast Passes? Pay attention to this one. As we walked towards the exit of the park, we passed by a couple, and we gave our FP to them. They were really grateful and very happy as the KS Standby was about 50 minutes at this point. It felt really good, and now I want to be part of the dream team! They must feel so good at the end of every day.

So SpeedWalker and I walked towards the exit, but before we left we glanced towards the Standby for It's Tough to be a Bug! 5 minutes? Lets do it!

I LOVE ITTBAB! I still haven't sat back in my chair during that one part...(Thanks TGM!) But i've made a promise to myself that I will next time i'm on it.

On the way to the exit, we stopped and got ice cream.

We glanced to the AK Attraction board which said EE was still closed, so we felt a little better about leaving the park.

Up Next: Magic Kingdom! And I use my DIS skills to have SpeedWalker experience something he's never done!

If you can believe this while we were there they had a minor eathquake off the coast and about the same time EE shut down for the day. I wonder if it is that tempermental? We didnt get to ride it that day but my girls got to ride it later and loved it. I on the other hand got the bad end of that stick.

Didnt you feel so wonderful sharing a little Disney magic with someone with your fast passes? It always makes us happy if we can spread some magic to others while we are there. It makes us feel as good as it makes them feel.

Don't tell anyone, but we loved the bugs life movie as much as the kids and it was a place to sit out of the heat for awhile!
