One became SEVEN?!? How did THAT happen? 4/24 UPDATE

Michele, Praying for your Mom's recovery!

Marilyn, Praying for your Dad!

Tracy, Finally saw your PM and answered it.

Judy, Hope you and the family got through the snow and storm that went through. Praying for you all! Sent you some email and will try to call this weekend.

Marilyn, how is your Dad doing today? Thinking of you both.

I had a good meeting yesterday afternoon with Ezra's teacher. I have been trying to get him evaluated for sensory/processing problems since before school started this year, with no success. I have hit a brick wall with everything we've tried. After an e-mail about his poor behavior last week in class, I was finally able to meet with the teacher again yesterday and she told me that the school has finally agreed to have him evaluated. This is huge, because they kept telling me they weren't going to approve him for it because his test scores on standardized tests are ahead of grade level, "so obviously there is nothing wrong with him"! For months I've been arguing that test scores are just one part of the whole picture and I wanted to get him evaluated; Mama's intuition, you know? Finally the teacher and I were on the same page and she pushed back on the administration on our behalf, which I so appreciate. She filled out the paperwork for us the same day she got it from them (Wednesday). She said she couldn't get me a firm date yet, but they are hoping to have him checked some time in the next couple of weeks - yay! I am SO hoping we can get some answers for him so he can be successful in school and life.

Hope everyone has a good day. We are shoveling out this morning just in time for another storm tonight. It's that time of year!

Thank you everyone that is praying for my dad. He is still on the ventilator because the doctor said that he is getting enough oxygen inot his blood but he isn't getting the CO2 out of his blood good. The think leaving him on the vent for a few more days will allow him to get stronger and better able to fight on his own.

thebeesknees glad that you are finally getting the evaluation that is need for your son. I hope that it helps you figure out how you can better help him.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them. I know I appreciate the ones that are being said for me and my dad.

I am glad to hear that they are finally listening to you. It's not like your own child or anything. Sometimes I wonder.

Marilyn,
I pray that your dad continues to improve and for strength for you all. I know how hard it can be when someone you love is ill.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers for my mom. I really appreciate them.

She had to be re-intubated because she was having trouble breathing. They tried the C-Pap and it just wasn't helping enough. Her Dr called me yesterday to talk and tell me her condition. The Dr explained that she might have to give my mom a tracheotomy because it is easier on the patient in so many ways. I am not afraid of the thought of the tracheotomy because I had one myself in 2007. I just worry because my mom is terribly frustrated at not being able to communicate. They had not thought to give her a notebook.:confused3 They had to sedate her because of her frustration. Hello? Get the clue people give the woman a notebook. All in all she is in good condition.

Or maybe it's trying to tell you something? Lol. You need to book another trip! And it's already picked your dates!
:thumbsup2

We are doing very good. Getting sleep while I can since my mom is here until Monday. After that it's just the kids and I during the day so I know things are going to get a little bit crazier.
Glad you are getting what you can while your mom is there!

Thank you for all the prayers for my dad. Unfortunately he is still not doing very well. They had to put him on a ventilator yesterday because his blood gasses came back low. I'm not really sure what that means though. This morning the doctors said he is trying to breath around the ventilator so they might try to get him off of it today. Even if he gets off he still has a long road to recovery.

Sorry to hear that you dad is not as well, praying for him!

Thanks :goodvibes

Glad you are finally getting the evaluation you have been pushing for! Hope it is soon.

I am sorry to hear about your moms frustrations and that they couldn't think of such a simple way to help her. I will keep her in my prayers.

I was thinking today, as I was shoveling snow how surreal is it that 2 weeks ago I was in Florida and I wish I was back there :rotfl:

Michele, I hope your Mom is doing much better and that the rest of her recovery will be much smoother. My Mom hit a few bumps in the road to recovery, also, so I know how that goes, but keep in mind that these things are just temporary and soon she will be doing so much better.

Marilyn, thinking of you and your Dad and praying that he will soon see a lot more progress as he recovers, as well.

Judy, hope your family is doing well and getting back into the normal routine after your trip! I am sure you are swamped with things to do now that you are back home.

We have a bunch of sad kiddos here in Denver after the Super Bowl game yesterday. Frankly, that was pretty embarrassing for the Broncos, but hey, there's always next year, right? Now to get them all geared up for this week - snow, snow and more snow forecast with highs below zero - yikes! I am so ready for spring and it looks like it will take awhile longer to get here!

Talked with Judy yesterday and she hasn't been here because of computer issues. She had this problem while in Orlando too. Hopefully she'll be back on here when she can.

Judy did mention one prayer request she had. Lisa has her appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow. This will be with someone new since her cardiologist moved away last year. Praying that Judy will have peace as someone new is going to be caring for Lisa's heart and praying that they will not find anything that needs to be done for now.

Tracy, glad you got a chance to get away to sunny and warmer Florida for a few weeks. I'm glad we don't get much snow here. We need some more moisture though. Got a little rain yesterday during the early morning but it wasn't much. Take care everyone!

Thanks everyone for the prayers for my dad. He is still on the vent but is breathing on his own, which is good. The problem now is that his lungs are still very weak and not getting all the CO2 out of his blood. The vent is just giving him extra O2 when he breaths in not forcing the air into his lungs.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.

It's been super hectic around our house the last week and a half and I haven't been able to check in with everybody here. Praying for all those in need!

Prayers sent to all in need on this thread. I miss updates from Judy, I hope her computer issue is resolved soon:) If I thought my trusty laptop could handle her updating everyone and telling us about the trip, I would take it to her when I go to Charlotte for a class in the city tomorrow...........but I am afraid Judy would set it on fire with all her typing:rotfl2: I understand computer woes, my desktop has bit the dust, and it will be a while before I think about fixing it, I rarely used it anyway since I got my laptop a few years ago! By the time I can afford to fix it, it would be time to just buy a new system, and since I didn't use it when it was working, not much sense it buying another one!

Just checking in. Been lurking and praying. Got a lot to do around here!!!! Our trip is coming fast!

Thank you Gail for updating for me. The computer is just not my friend and trying to post has not been worth the stress. Adding my prayers for all of the needs and concerns. Praise for the good news!

Lisa has a BIG cardiology appointment today and we could use some prayers. Her local cardiologist (who has been with us since she was diagnosed as an infant) moved to Charleston. We are seeing his partner tomorrow for LIsa’s big heart work-up. We have known him for many years as well; however, Dr. G was the one who helped us make the big decisions. This obviously causes us concern. We have considered heading to Charleston for Lisa’s care; however we already have her cardiothoracic surgeon and an incredible team in Philly and we really need local docs who can take over in the event of an emergency. Please pray we get good news and we feel peace with Dr O taking over Lisa’s heart care. Of course, Dr. G is as close as the phone...

I have peace in my heart as we wait for Lisa's appt time. On cardiology days I try to limit our appts/activities, and we only have two today. Pete is meeting us at the MD. I only get bad news when he isn't there, so I am relieved he is joining us. Lisa’s appt is at 11, Lisa and I will leave around 10, I can’t stand to be late!

It is also Congenital Heart Defect (CHD’s) Awareness month. Be aware, the life you save me be someone you love!!

Hope everything goes well with Lisa's appointment. Luvin the pictures you have especially the St. Patricks day one and the Ballet one. :grouphug:

ps: see my signature I'm going to Disneyland :)

Judy, it's always good to see you take the time to update us on what's going on. Of course, I'll be saying many many prayers that you'll continue to be at peace with the fact that Lisa will be seeing the "new' cardiologist. Unless you get some gosh awful vibes today, I believe that it's wise to keep a local doctor. Like you said, you may need him for an emergency.

Thanks for posting the pictures of sweet Lisa. It's so wonderful to see that smiling face despite everything that she has gone (and continues) to go through.

Awesome pics of Lisa! Its truly hard to remember all of her health issues when you meet her in person, she is a charming young lady who lives life to the fullest as does the rest of the family! I hope the MD appt went very well today with good news about Lisa's heart :thumbsup2
