One became SEVEN?!? How did THAT happen? 4/24 UPDATE

Hi Judy, Glad you got the computer to cooperate so you could update us about Lisa's appointment. So glad that Pete was able to be there too. Love seeing all the pictures of Lisa and her joy shines through. Been praying for Lisa today and that everything went well!

I hope everything went well with the appt today ~ so glad Pete was able to join you.

Michele and Marilyn, prayers for smooth sailing from here on out for your parents. I hope each gets off the vent asap and has a smooth recovery after that.

Prayers that your appointment went well today. Glad Pete was able to be there.

Great pictures of Lisa! Love her smile!

I'm so glad Pete was available to go with you to the appointment. I pray all went well and you are comfortable with the new doctor.

Marilyn, glad to hear your dad is improving.

Haven't been on the boards in a while (life has been too hectic) but wanted to say I hope all went well with Lisa's appointment yesterday!!

Prayers to all those in need!!

Thought I would jump on here for a minute to let you know I was thinking about y'all. Hope the doctors appointment went well.

Judy, I hope that Lisa's appointment with cardio went well.

Thank you everyone for the prayers for my dad. He made the decision today to go off of the vent, and just do comfort measures. I am not ready to lose my dad yet but I respect his wishes he has been fighting a long time and hasn't had the best quality of life the last few years. His lungs are very weak so it is just a matter of time until he is gone. I would appreciate it if ya'll would keep him and my family in your prayers.

Marilyn

I hope the appointment went well, Judy! I love the pictures of Lisa, especially the last ballet one :goodvibes School has been crazy so my DIS time has decreased, but since we had a snow day today I wanted to pop in and let you know I was thinking of you!

Marilyn, praying for you, your father, and your family during this tough time :grouphug:

Marilyn, while it is hard to see your Dad make such a tough decision, I'm glad he is competent enough to decide for himself what to do. I wish all of you peace in knowing that your Dad is doing what he feels is best, and pray for his comfort. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Prayers and hugs for you, your family and your dad during this time.

Marilyn - Prayers sent, its such a hard decision to make, I am glad your father is able to make the decision so you know his wishes, and although its a hard decision to accept, allowing his wishes to be followed is one of the greatest gifts you can give him, the love shown by letting him go with dignity and without suffering is awesome.

Marilyn, saying prayers for you and your family. It's good that your dad is competent and able to tell the doctors and you what his wishes are.

Marilyn,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Marilyn, I know what you are going through. I went through it 1 1/2 years ago with my Mom. When they did the test to take her off of the vent she failed. She was alert and coherent and made it clear she wanted to be off of the vent and put on hospice care. The said that she could survive for a few minutes or hours depending on how quickly the CO2 built up again. We waited several hours to take her off of the vent so that all of her children and grandchildren could get to the hospital to say good bye. She lived and was comfortable for exactly a month right to the hour. When she went it was very peaceful with 1 of my sisters and I standing beside her holding her hands. During that month each of her 8 children and several adult grandchildren spent nights with her alone at the nursing home. So just take the time to spend time with your Dad loving him and letting him know it. Towards the end my Mom did become delerious(sp) but in a funny way that we could all laugh about including her. One day she told my sister-in-law that she had flown across the street to see the horses that lived across from the nursing home. She stated that she didn't like it so she flew back home! another time she told one of my sisters that I hadn't been to see her in a month because I was in England visiting the queen!
