Once Upon A Time

I didn't either. DH got it and said it was an in-joke. The director of the movie Frankenstein was James WHALE. Hence the character name in OUAT.

I loved the ep and ITA that the actor playing Hook is very good looking. And I  his accent!

Was I the only one who started to get choked up with the whole thing between Regina and Daniel at the end? Losing Daniel the first time is what put her on the destructive path in the first place. And this time, she realized that she had to let him go even though she didn't want to. Looks like she is really trying to change. I also think that Cora will be coming to Storybrook and that Regina will team up with everyone to fight her.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the storyline in FTL. Don't get wrong, I like what's going on in Storybrook, but I miss FTL and want to see more of it.

tell your DH he rocks for knowing/getting that info. Cool!:thumbsup2

I liked it well enough,Charming is still bugging me thru all this tho~I don't know, just so blah or something. I forget he is around until he shows up on screen. Not sure what I think about good Regina/bad Regina...bad is so much more entertaining, lol. Cora will get to Storybrooke, Hook too...Regina and Rumple will have to team up again to battle them. Pretty sure Rumple will call in all his markers-"prices" paid for magic around then. Especially the one Emma owes. I keep thinking she is going to have to choose to be in Storybrooke with Henry or back with her parents in FairyTale land but that they all can't be together. I hope not because that is a bummer.Maybe they will all cross the town line together agreeing to forget everything is the best way to not be hurt or miss everyone.

I didn't mind last night's episode, although it certainly wasn't one of my favorites!

I wondered if the inclusion of Dr. Frankenstein was to set the precedent of Rumplestiltskin being able to visit "other" lands. Literary lands, I mean. I loved Jefferson as the vehicle to do this. It would also open up a whole slew of new characters.

Just my 2 cents.

I love the idea of being able to include other literary lands. So many fun things could be possible.

WHERE IS PINOCCHIO??? We had those couple glimpses of him, and of Geppetto entering his apartment, and then NOTHING.

I really like what they're doing with Regina, and am rooting for her to pull it together and become a good guy once again.

The Dr Frankenstein part was pretty bizarre, but I was okay with it.

I just want Peter Pan to come into the story in FTL already.

:yeahthat: about Pinocchio. I really want to know where that storyline went.

This is kind of how I feel too. I wasn't "omg I love this" about this episode, but I think I "get" it. The fact that there are other worlds is important, and so is the fact that Rumple can move around in them (through Jefferson, and dang do I love him! Between him and Hook and those Brad Pitt Chanel commercials I'm all atwitter ;) ). And the fact that Jefferson's hat can go between ANY magical lands, not just Wonderland. Kind of like the beans.

I don't love Charming (David). Blah. And Aurora better DO something soon!

I like what some of you have said about the whole Dr. Frankenstein thing opening up possibilities to other non-fairy tale worlds. It could really make things crazy and in a weird way I guess it makes sense that some how all fictional characters could interact. Also I just wanted to add that my favorite part of the episode was getting to see more Hook and Jefferson (I really think I have a thing for guy liner). I can't wait to see next weeks episode with Hurley. I really hope they throw at least one "Dude" in there like "Why did you dudes climb up my beanstock?" Lol!

that would be awesome, lol....Hurley was great. I am wondering since "science" was highlighted as being more powerful than magic, how that is gong to play out in all of this. Seemed too important in last nights storyline to ignore :confused3

I was just about to say this. I think bringing Frankenstein in was important for bringing the "other lands" aspect, but I think the "science is more powerful than magic" thing is also going to turn out to be important.

I though this episode was alright. A little more slow paced than the rest of the season, but they can't all be nail biters, right? lol.

I'm understanding the rules and universe less and less this season.

Dr. Frakenstein is not someone I would have expected to come in contact with. At this rate, how long before Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, or Holden Caufield show up?

I don't like that Hook is a pretty boy.

Also, Frankenstein's outfit reminded me too much of Dr. Horrible in his red lab coat.

How do you control the beans? I mean, if the bean was used to send Bael to earth, why was it used to send Hook's ship to Neverland?

Does it depend whether you throw it on the ground or in the water?

.

According to a recent story in Entertainment Weekly, the Sheriff was originally supposed to be Sherlock Holmes. They weren't able to secure the rights so he became the Huntsman instead. Now, with the popularity of the UK series Sherlock, which the producers said they love, they indicated they are no longer trying to get the rights.

Did anybody pick up on how Emma knew Hook was a Captain? Her tone was like she knew the story of Pan and Hook.

Why wouldn't she know the story? She grew up in our world. I would guess she's heard most of the stories.

I was kind of confused when Dr. Whale said that he comes from a land that is more powerful than magic. Storybrook is in the "real" world and science is a part of that. So how can his world, that also has science, be more powerful :confused3

I guess I'll be the first to post for tonight's episode. I thought it was a really great episode. I always love seeing more of Hook because he is amazingly good looking and charismatic. I also liked getting to see Daniel again thought it could have had a happier ending. Obviously though the main revelation in tonight's episode was finding out who Dr. Whale (who's name doesn't really make sense) is in fact (spoilers if you haven't seen it) Dr. Frankenstein.

His name is a reference to the 1931 movie which was directed by James Whale.

Arrogance? Or maybe his world has both magic and science, and he prefers science. I have a theory that Frankenstein is the Wizard of Oz, in the same way Rumpel is the Beast and the Crocodile, and Oz is split into a magical half and a non-magical, black and white half, with a rainbow separating the two. But that's just a theory.

We were wondering the same thing???:confused3

What about Harry potter? He's magical :). And if the bring in Dracula then they can bring in Edward Cullen hehe

Any speculation as to who Henry's dad is?? Now that we have Jack & The Beanstalk and Frankenstein added to the mix, it really could be anybody's guess!

Wizard of Oz was my first thought.
