Once Upon A Disney Wish Live Updates

I'm in two minds about what's been announced.

It really seems to be "in-your-face Disney, all the time" on this ship. I totally get it's a Disney cruise, so expect lots of Disney. But almost everything they've unveiled - from the atrium, the restaurants, the bars, even the theming of the movie theaters and right down to the headboards in the staterooms - just seems like it could get exhausting very quickly depending on how "invested" you are in the Disney experience. And I say this as someone who loves their DCL trips. Feel like relaxing with a drink and separating yourself from the Disney experience for a bit? Go to Fathoms, Keys, the Meridian Bar, Ooh La La, Skyline. On the Wish? Don't even try it, it's Star Wars and Beauty and the Beast for you!

I'll get around to sailing on the Wish and her newer sisters at some point, and I'm hoping there's more in the coming announcements that will have a positive impression on me. Based purely on what has been released so far, it just doesn't appeal to me and what I enjoy on the earlier ships in the fleet.

I'm going to get ripped apart for this post, I'm sure.

Reading the description of the inside rooms (also there are NO deluxe inside, only standard inside) it doesn't say anything about magic portholes.

Tongue in cheek? Sort of? Do Canadian divorce courts give you half of assets?

September 3-nighter. Hurricane season. Schools are back in session.

He says we can go IF I find a reasonable rate (he means, no more than 850$ USD/pp)... It’s either that or I go with friends ... but most of my friends either can’t afford it or refuse to pay the premium.

Will check for Fall rates. Thank you. :)

This ship may have swayed my cruise hesitant wife to get back on board. I had her all ready to go on a cruise that would've set sail a week ago but then the closures hit and it set me back on the convincing.

Thanks Disney for creating what looks to be an incredible experience on the seas. Made it easy for me! Now it's hoping I can get in on one of the sailings before September..

Yes, that was my impression as well. It‘s like a theme park at sea.

Still on the fence about room category, but my TA has my dates! I’m gold, so hoping to see some pricing to help with my room decision.

So, I showed the video to my son (6) last night. We did one cruise in the summer of 2019 and since then had 2 cancelled/rescheduled...but he was definitely in the target audience. He loves the slide into the kid's club, all the fun hero activities ("Can I learn to fight?"), and the AquaMouse. He even said he was going to "stay awake all night to think about it."
Things he didn't like: 1923 and all the "boring" discussion of the new shows and adult areas. :rotfl2:

Oh man, I got so excited by the DVC-only cruise only to find out at least one fare must be booked with points. Blech. No way we have enough points for something like that.

Sorry to double post, but wondering what people's thoughts are on whether pricing would be better in fall 2022? Specifically October?

On the one hand, that's usually low price season due to hurricanes and school back in session. On the other hand, maybe demand for the Wish over the summer will be so big they'll up the prices for fall. Anyone have experience with the Fantasy opening year prices that might serve as a reference?

All I'm gonna say is the next ship better have a slide from the adult pool area to a lounge or spa!

I know!! I don't want to hazard a guess on that one. My guess for 1-bedroom is $2000 pp/night (i.e. so roughly $20k for two) and for concierge verandah $1500 pp/night ($15k for two). But I hope I'm wrong!

I think you're a little low.

glad to see the concierge expanded to 3 levels now and they have their own pool area to hang out. Going to be more difficult trying to get a cabana though.

With so many more concierge level cabins and suites, it's going to even be difficult for concierge guests to reserve a cabana. It wouldn't surprise me if DCL goes to a tiered system based on cabin/suite level within concierge categories for cabana bookings.

I think it will be definitely higher for the maiden voyage. Maybe around that price for the 4 night summer cruises. I just hope Concierge includes more exclusive perks than what they offer now. I saw on a FB post that the concierge description now includes complimentary wifi. Would love to see reserved concierge seating for shows.

From the looks of the inside rooms on Disney’s website, there aren't going to be magic portholes. (?) Did they have problems with them on the other ships? Maybe since there are so few inside staterooms they didn’t need/want to create more demand for them?
Found where I read that info:

From the photo, don’t know where they will put it.

My guess is this particular deck plan pop-up text (Magic Porthole with Real-Time Video View) is just copied over from the Dream/Fantasy deck plans. :-)

On the Disney Wish inside staterooms page itself (https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships/wish/staterooms-inside/) they are going into a lot of detail about the amenties including "And to kids’ delight, a celestial scene featuring original artwork and an enchanting message from the Fairy Godmother reveals itself when the upper-berth bed is pulled down (applicable only for staterooms that sleep 4)" but there's no mention of the porthole. And actually it says "View: no exterior view" just like it does for the Magic and Wonder.

So since the magic portholes aren't being described in text or shown in the photo mockups, it sure looks like they aren't coming.

Expect that lighthouse point will be the eventual private island destination for the wish... and have many more cabanas.

With a private pool on the concierge sundeck, I don't think they'll have any trouble fully booking concierge even without the ability to book CC cabanas.

I bet that is exactly what they do..................even if they dont say it outright.

I was hoping for a Haven type area. It looks like DCL just added more rooms, made the lounge and sundeck bigger and are giving us complimentary wifi.
