Guess that's what my dilemma is. We have more than enough points rolled over to cover a studio for next Oct. We would need to use some of 2003 points to stay in a 1bedroom. We would not need to borrow. However, once in a 1bedroom would you always feel the need to stay in a 1 bedroom? I know it would be easier to move from a studio to a 1bedroom if it was during the same trip but how about on the following vacation? Would you miss having the 1bedroom if you went to a studio for the following vaca?

I was in a 2 bedroom for 9 nights for me,my wife,my 7 yr old twins and my parents. my parents stayed in the studio part and my kids slpt in the living room. we are going in aug for 12 nights without my parents and i booked a 1 bedroom because after staying in the 2 bedroom i couldnt imagine being in a studio even though we have done it before. it is easily worth the additional 140 points i am using to have the comfort of the 1 bedroom. there is nothing better than a nice jacuzzi after walking the parks all day long. just my opinion.

I have stayed in all unit sizes (except GV's) in all of the DVC properties and I have never had a problem going from one unit type to the next. I have ready many who say once they go to a 1br they can never go back again but I personally have never had that experience! I still enjoy my studio stays as much as my 1br stays.

I guess Im spoiled. but even when its DH and I..we always get a 1 bedroom. We like the condo type set up/ We love being able to spread out. Im an early riser and hes a night owl,, So this makes us both happy.

Having been in a studio, 1br and a 2br I wold only stay in a studio if I had to due to availability. Studios are nice but the 1br is the preferred choice for DW and I.

We have stayed in a 1BR,2BR,GV, and have gotten a studio for our in-laws. I think for a stay of 1-3 days, a studio wouldn't be to bad, for any stays over 3 days I would reccomend a 1BR.;)

First trip home we had 3 adults and DD who was toddler at time. We got a 1 bdrm. Following trip it was me, DH and DD, I booked a studio. We lasted all of two days and couldtn't take it. Moved midweek to a 1 bdrm and haven't looked back since. Had to do an add on cause DH refuses to stay in studio w/ 3 of us.

Sure, why not, I've done studios many times, 2brs and a GV once. The larger rooms are great but so is the studio. Our goal is to spend time in the theme parks or enjoying the amenities of WDW, not be confined to a room whatever its size is. In fact, the studios seem more relaxing with just my wife and I then a GV with a mix of 3 families and 11 people. There's no pressure to feel like we have to entertain and tour guide our guests when we go alone. the studios are great, if only they had that jacuzzi for our couple trips.......spruce

I switch villa sizes depending on the number of people in our group per trip, but when it is just myself and another adult, I love the studios. They are perfect for us and I would much rather get more days from my pts than larger rooms that we really do not need nor want.

Our preference is to start out in smaller accomodations and work up. Sometimes, when arriving later in the evening on a weekend day, we'll start out in a studio and then move to a one bedroom. That's the beauty of the point system, to best manage your accomodations to meet your vacation needs. A studio is a wonderful accomodation, I'm very glad it's available.

The room and space are *very* important to me. I am not a big "park" person. The studios are fine if there are only two of us on the trip. Otherwise, I have to have a larger unit. I have never been able to stand staying more than 2 in a hotel room, other than when my boys were very small. Our first stay as DVC members was just my two boys and myself, and we got a 1 bedroom at OKW - way back in '94. I still remember the looks on their faces! Even though my mom (age 82) and I are going alone in January, we are staying in a 1 bedroom at Beach Club. It's wonderful to be able to splurge on "just us girls". All that being said, I have stayed in a studio with one of my sons for a couple of nights before checking into something larger when everyone else arrives, to save some points, and it was fine. That's the beauty of DVC!

My first 2 trips on points were in a 1 bedroom....my 3rd was in a studio....I had no problems staying in a studio at all.....but I don't use the kitchen or whirlpool tub on trips anyway, so I didn't miss them. if you plan to cook in your room, you should probably stick with a 1 bedrom.

We have stayed 1 bdr, 2 bdr and studio. The studio was fine for DH and myself for only 3 days. We were doing Food & Wine Fest and knew we would never cook:D

When the teenager is along I would never get less than a 1 bdr. I like the privacy and he seems to keep different hours than I do. Even when traveling just with DS (trip without hubby) I got a 1 bdrm.

We got a 2 bdr in May for ourselves, DS and his buddy last May and we probably will never do even 1 bdrm again with the 2 of them along - the privacy and space were fabulous! Teenage boys seem to take up so much room. I've polled the family for next year and when choosing between 1 bedroom for more nights or 2 bedrooms for 1 night less, they voted for the 2 bedrooms!

Since becoming members nearly 6 years ago, we have stayed in everything from a GV to a studio. I wouldn't say "never" would I again stay in a studio, but I probably wouldn't! We did that once about 4 years ago after 4 trips in a 2 bedroom and 1 in a GV. I would only do a studio if it was absoluted necessary now!!!

While it's true that one stay in a one-bedroom does spoil you, I wouldn't say it's impossible to "go back" to a studio. After all, DVC studios are the equivalent (or better) of a deluxe hotel room. ;) If it's a matter of availability or saving some points in Premiere season, I have no problem with going back to a studio. Actually, at the BWV (and probably at BCV), I like the studio just as well. I already feel "hotel like" so the studio is just great. At OKW, I tend to miss the one-bedroom more but I've had very nice times in OKW studios as well.

We had an awful problem. When we bought back in '92, we had an extra year's worth of points for our first stay in '93. We go the GV. We quickly realized that we were going to need one every year, so we added on 200 points during that stay.

By the way, what is a 'studio'?

Our first DVC trip we stayed in a studio for one night and then moved to a 1 bedroom. My DH doesn't want to ever stay in a studio again. I said okay but we'll need more points. So we bought more :)

My DH also used to say "No Studios!" after staying in 1 bedrooms at OKW, VB and BWV. Then, last year we didn't have enough points to stay in a 1 BR for our spring trip after "shooting our wad" over NYE in a 1 BR at BWV. I booked a Studio at your lovely home resort (VWL) for our family of 3 and told my DH to deal with it :teeth:.

We had a great time!

The studios are quite spacious, especially when couch is folded up. Did I miss the whirlpool tub and the built-in laundry? A little. Did I miss having 2 rooms? A full kitchen? Two balconies? Not really. The studio is bigger than most rooms except for a couple of the deluxes and having the 2nd bed fold up makes it feel much, much bigger. We still had a refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker for breakfast and snacks (and beer and wine ;)). We still had a Queen-sized bed for the adults and another bed for my DD. We still had a balcony and we were still in one of the best resorts that WDW can offer.

I would say that you should save your 2003 points (if that's important to you) and stay in the studio. If you are used to staying in non-DVC resorts or regular hotel rooms you will still be wow'd by a mere Studio :).
