I may be renting points from a friend to stay at the AKV Kidani side August 2009. We would like to stay in a 2br savannah view. We will take standard view and a 1br if that's all that's available. Since their home resort is OKW, they won't be able to book it for us till January because of the 7mth window. What are some opinions on the chances of getting this. Since it is new, I'm afraid the availability will be small. I didn't know if our chances are better since we'd be going the second week of August in lieu of other busier times of the year. Thanks for any thoughts!

Please keep in mind that my opinion is that of a new DVC/AKV owner so take it for what it is worth. I think that there will be availability but you will probably have to be flexible on the type of room that you want. The reason I say that is that by Aug 2009 Kidani will be open and it is huge but there are lots of 2008 Kidani points floating around that will have to be used during the course of the 2009 UYs.

What type of rooms typically go first? The cheaper ones at standard or do most people want the savannah view? Also, are the 1br or 2br rooms more popular. I just don't want to set myself up for disappointment. I have a backup plan to do the BCV but would rather do AKV. Thanks again!

We really don't have enough experience with AKV to give you anything but 100% pure speculation. Here is mine:

In your favor:
* Traditonally, the WDW resorts have been easier to book in the summertime than some of the other times of the year.
* You have a back up plan already in place. FWIW, if the BCV isn't already booked, I think it will be harder to get in there at 7 months than at the AKV. Due to the BCV's access to SAB (main pool), it is very popular in the summer months and has many fewer rooms than the AKV.
* You are flexible with dates, room size and booking categories. Savana view category will have the most rooms compared to the others.
* AKV is not yet sold out. That usually means more availability since DVD has to add inventory in advance of the sales. That often results in "extra pixie dust" for those on the waitlist.

Not in your favor:
* As already mentioned, - there are many AKV owners anxiously awaiting the completion of Kidani (May, 2009). They will book as soon as they are allowed.
* There are also many others who will book at the 7 month window and be in competition with your friend.

Good luck - I think it will work out for you.

Thank you so much for your help. I posted this on another board but was wondering if anyone knew how much the Kidani villas will be going for at rack rate/night. Will they be comparable to Jambo or more since they're expected to be a little bigger. Thanks again!
