Imagine the excitement of these two kids traveling WDW for our 30th wedding anniversary and our very FIRST trip anywhere w/o the children ( now in their 20's). Everything was set, Magic Bands were shipped and we anxiously awaited their arrival! We signed up for email notifications to track the package along the way. Lo and behold, they arrived yesterday, Thursday, to a house in a city 40 MILES AWAY, "in the mailbox" said the tracking info! The only commonality between our zip code and where it was delivered is the first 2 numbers. Our street name does not exist in that city, nor does out street number! How does this even happen!!!!!! Oh, USPS.... HOW?!?!!!???????

20 minutes on hold with Disney and transferred to not less than 4 cast members, two who were extremely rude and couldn't give two hoots and one saying, "well.... Once we out it on the USPS track, we have no control of what happens so, what do you wants us to do?" (Yes, I know you don't have control over USPS, but really?) one who was a supervisor who simply stated, "this is not my area of expertise and I don't know what to tell you...," (Seriously?) and I finally was able to speak with a CM who assured me the "shipped to the wrong address" Magic Bands are useless, deactivated and if the recipient tried to do anything with them, they could not because they are "a useless piece of rubber."

The rub was, the address on file for us, the address WDW says they were shipped to WAS our correct address. So then how did they end up in the mailbox of a home 40 miles away? You just gotta laugh, I think!

WDW assured me our new bands will be mailed again immediately, which today turned into "within 24 hours" which now has turned into "within a week." Disney will only ship magic bands via USPS....

Ye of little faith hopes extra pixie dust was sprinkled on the package in hopes it eventually arrives here safely....

I hope you all are shaking your head and enjoyed a little chuckle.

Has this ever happened to ANYONE?

So WDW is going to ship them to the same address they had on the package the first time? I see a deja vu moment coming.

I would be on the phone with USPS to get them to retrieve it and get it to the right address. or retrieve and hold it if you don't mind driving 40 miles to pick it up. It's not disney that delivered it wrong, it's USPS.

Yes, it is USPS error. They can't tell me where it was delivered since OUR address was on the package.

Disney would do nothing other than offer to ship new bands. edited: ship via USPS only

Frustrated and disheartened here.

if you can see both sets of MBs on your MDE, I would make sure the "lost" ones are deactivated. The odds that someone would take that incorrect shipment and actually use them are slim, but you can't be too sure.

I can see why you're frustrated. Anxiously watching USPS tracking updates only to have it wind up 40 miles away?! Yeah, that stinks.

But try to look at it this way -- every vacation has a little hiccup, you just got it out of the way! Yahoo.

Since they are deactivated and Disney is sending new ones you'll be good to go. I know calling and being transferred repeatedly was the not so fun part. (I hate having to get resolution with stuff like this.)

Breathe a sigh of relief that it's over and know your new ones are coming.

Hang in there.

Not sure what besides new bands you were looking for. Perhaps file a complaint with USPS since it was their error? Also just note that unless they gave you the exact address it was left at it is very common for USPS to mark things as delivered when they indeed are not. Happens to me all the time. If USPS is who delivered it wrong then dealing with them would have been step #1.

Disney said they deactivated them. In MDE is shows they were "delivered" haha but we can't "see them." MDE says the new ones "are being personalized."

Hopefully not being able to see them means they really did deactivate them. Fingers crossed here, too!

I was looking for confirmation the "delivered" MB were useless to anyone who received it in error, as well as what we needed to do to receive new MBs.

Did you try calling USPS? They are the ones who seem to be at fault not Disney.

Yes, USPS cannot (at least yet) give me an address where it was left because postmaster did confirm OUR address was on the package. She can't imagine what happened and said she will speak to postman who supposedly delivered it to see where it is...

How do you know it was 40 miles away and the address it was delivered to had 2 numbers in common? It sounds as if you know the address it was delivered to. If you know all of that, why is it that USPS can't just go get the package and then deliver it to YOUR house since it's only 40 miles away? I just don't understand why you think that Disney castmembers would be able to help you since this is a USPS problem and not a Disney issue. The address that Disney had was correct and the box was labeled and mailed. Disney's part is done.

USPS is a joke. They lose a package of mine on an annual basis (3 years running). They have no clue. I too have lost things because they were delivered >20 miles away, never to be recovered, never to be reimbursed. I go out of my way to avoid using USPS. Good luck ❤️

Sounded like you knew the exact address. Again very possible they show up on Monday. I have this problem all the time. They scan the packages as they go on the truck and based on the address and size of box either right left with person or in mailbox. Causes a frenzy and then package randomly shows up.

Don't worry about anyone using tour magicbands. The likely hood someone 40 miles away is at Disney the exact same time as you, knows your pin code, and what hotel you are staying at, plus has your biometric scan would be highly unlikely.

OP probably knows because when a package is scanned upon delivery the USPS tracking system shows the town and zip code it was delivered to, and whether it was put in/at the mailbox, left on a porch, or delivered to a person. I also would have called Disney as well as the USPS so that Disney could deactivate the misdelivered bands, just in case.

My original post stated that the ZIP Code has the first two numbers in common, that's it.

The tracking information we received stated that the magic band package was delivered in the mailbox of a home in a city that I know was 40 miles from my house. The postmaster in that city does not know where it was delivered yet because the address on the package is mine, not one in their town .

disney's responsibility was to deactivate/cancel the original magic bands and issue and send us new ones.

Exactly, thank you !

About a month ago something similar happened to me...just not with magic bands. The USPS tracking showed my package was delivered to the wrong house, so I called the company I had ordered from and they sent a replacement, BUT the kicker is, the next day the original shipment was delivered to me by USPS! When I rechecked the tracking after the original was delivered to me, instead of showing it was delivered the wrong address, it just said something like a delivery exception had occurred that day. Not sure if they were just covering up their delivery mistake or if the tracking just had an error...either way now I have two of what I ordered and turns out I don't even like it!

A few months ago I had an Amazon package delivered to me via USPS that had my name and address slapped on top of the original recipient's info. It was intended for someone (who I have no connection to other than also being an Amazon customer) a few towns/zip codes away. I called amazon because I didn't want to be charged for the item, even though it was a USPS mistake. Neither Amazon nor the Post Office could explain what happened.

I currently have 3 gift cards in USPS limbo. Disney said they shipped 11 days ago. They haven't appeared at our house yet. Disney doesn't get tracking numbers for gcs so USPS couldn't track it even if they were at all competent to do it. Disney is looking into what they can do and promised to get back to me tomorrow. At least they did not seem confused or at all surprised that it happened.

I've had this happen with another package but it wasn't shipped via usps (and was from Amazon). In that case the deliver you company used the onboard GPS to verify that the package was delivered to my neighborhood and I was able to find it on my neighbors front porch... but it was close (although the delivery person really messed it up because our house number was not even close to where he left it...) when I contacted Amazon the best they could do is reship the package... which makes since as they have no control after it leaves their facility...
