Yes, I did attend the game and I was upset at the "clean" hit by Neil. I have to admit that it wasnt an elbow, but it was a hit that he did not and should not have done. He did jump a little on the check driving his shoulder into the side of Drury's head (that makes it dirty).

The one that gets to me is Neil's comment on how it was the same as Campbell's hit on Umberger last year. What a crock...Campbell hit Umberger from the front, Umberger had the puck, and Campbell did not embellish the check by jumping into it. Neil's check was from behind (and to the side) and he jumped into hit.

Neil has always been a bit goonish and this is no surprise that he did this. The check occurred right in front of me and you could see Drury shooting the puck and relaxing to move to his right when he was blindsided from BEHIND (and a little to the side - but still from behind).

Brian Murray must have been smoking something to say that Drury's helmet was the cause of the injury (it flew off when he hit the ice - LMAO). You can clearly see the slight jump in the check and the shoulder connecting with Drury's head which was strong enough to send the helmet flying.

With regards to who started the goalie fight - no question about it...Emery left his crease first and taunted Biron to come out. Biron, ever the team player, obliged and was over matched, but I give him a lot of credit. Peter's attack on Emery, while considered a faux-paux (sp?), he was coming to the defense of his goalie (who he thought was not up to the task). I loved how the Senator players on the ice came to help Emery (oh wait - no one did). Emery was able to take care of himself (smiling the whole time - lol) - give the man some props!

I am guessing that tonight's game will be a lot tamer though McGratton is playing so he and Peters will probably have a dance tonight.

The game tonight should be interesting.

I agree with Peters who mentioned that it probably won't live up to the hype. I think Peters and McGrattan will probably scrap but we will definitely not see the stupidity like we saw on Thursday.

My prediction, Ott 4-Buff 3 in regular time. That score could very well go the other way so we will have to wait and see. It will be a dandy!:happytv:

they're really trying to fight about that hit. the Governor of the NHL actually wrote a letter because he was so angry about it.

oh Campbells hit was clean. i was THERE, i watched it, it was clean. Umberger just wasn't paying attention, that's why he went down so hard.

yeah well, they WERE playing in Canada. apparently they have different rules up there.popcorn::

I'm not a Sabres fan, per se, but I've been a huge fan of Chris Drury since his days as an Av and am just sick about the hit. Yeah, it may've been within the "acceptable" time frame for hitting a player who's just released the puck, but it was classless and totally devoid of respect just the same. There are certain lines that most players know not to cross and the fact that Bettman et. al. can't see this for what it is, which is a dirty hit, if not in definition, then most certainly in deed, only makes me angrier.

And speaking of players that don't take crap from anybody, I love Jochen Hecht. No, he's never going to fight, and he doesn't pop off a lot, but if you make him mad, you'll know it. I saw him spin away from an attempted hit tonight and just fling whoever it was who'd tried to hit him down to the ice like it was nothin'. He had Mike Ricci almost completely insane by the end of the Blues-Sharks quarterfinals in 2000; it was truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

it was just a nasty hit. but that's how that team plays. i'm thinking that something will be done about it, considering a LOT of people are up in arms about it, even those who aren't Sabres fans. the only ones who don't care are Ottowa and Toronto(go figure, there!).

oh i love Hecht! i love it when he flings people around like that...for a few different reasons lol! yeah it's hard to make him mad, but when you do :scared1: you better look out!

Well, after all the hype...last night's game was pretty much what was expected.

A tussle or two but otherwise a very watchable game. Both teams played pretty weak defensively with both teams scoring a couple of lucky goals.

A 6-5 victory for the Sens was good as we jumped over the Pens for fourth place in the East(even though technically we should be in third). I doubt we're gonna catch Buffalo but then again, I don't think anyone will.

Good luck to Buffalo for the rest of the season. I hope next time we play each other for a game that matters, it'll be a rematch of last years playoffs!

i agree.

i just miss our team. i mean, all the Rochester kids are doing great, but i miss seeing our team. half the time they pan over the team and i'm like "wait....what team is that again?" lol. oh well.

Big news

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Martin Biron was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday for a second-round draft pick.

The Sabres then turned around and acquired Columbus Blue Jackets' backup goalie Ty Conklin in exchange for a fifth-round pick in this year's draft.

for Zubrus, a consistent offensive forward, Buffalo also landed prospect defenseman Timo Helbling. The Sabres dealt rookie forward Jiri Novotny, who's ready to return from a high ankle sprain, and a first-round pick to the Capitals.

Zubrus is amazeing

he scores!!!:cheer2: I was hoping the new goalie will mind the net tonight, so we could see if he is worthy or not.
