OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

Im glad im not in the market for them, I see they are sold out a lot of places

Yeah! I finally got some hamsters this morning off of etoys (although inflated a bit price wise) but at least I have some! I grabbed the 4 hamster gift set w/ extra batteries for 67.99 (+tax & shipping - ugh).... again inflated but hopefully on the way! Doesn't it figure though that Target got some in today as well so I grabbed another 3 hamsters, BUT until etoys in in hand I'm not counting on having the extras. Now to be able to find some accessories...

I just got an email that TRU will open at 6am for rewards members, and the first 50 will get a hamster, limit one per household. I called the new store near me, and they won't be participating, so I would call your store before you head out.

I do find it a little disturbing how many are on ebay. If people weren't buying them up to sell, there would be more on the shelf for people that really want them.

Just got one at my TRU this morning! One per person and they weren't letting you go outside and come back in, but at least I got one! When I left they had maybe 5 left and people were filing into the parking lot.

Just curious, has anybody had luck at their Target? I just called mine and the girl had no idea what I was talking about. No Zhu Zhus and I know the few times I've been there, there is not even shelf space for them. :confused3

I'm hoping to have more than just this one white hamster come Christmas. :lmao:

Just a hint for looking for the hamsters and accessories at Target, our target has them listed as go go pets in store (the tags on the shelves say go go pets, but all the boxes say Zhu Zhu pets (they are the same thing)). So if you are calling at asking if they have any, maybe using the other name might help you out.

I'm going for more heartwarming gifts this year. The elves have bought so much joy to our holiday season. Check them out at elfingaround.com. It's soooo easy to start this heartfelt tradition.

That being said - I will be in line at Target or Walmart (I haven't decided) trying to score a flat screen tv. My kids are older and they are all about electronics. The deals are incredible this year. Can't wait to get out there and be a part of the hustle and bustle of the season!

I agree too!:confused3

Then if you look at her previous posts, she owns the company so it makes sense. The title of her post is an advertisement for her product.

My sister just told me my nephew wants a Zhu zhu pet. When I was on the search earlier, I had asked her to help look and asked her if she thought he might want one. She told me no. This morning she told me she regrets it now since now he wants one. Luckily, I have an extra hamster so all is good. My only stipulation is that it come from Santa. I've been milking the Santa card in the house. The girls know how hard it is to find them since we always look in the toy section at Walmart whenever we go. I've been telling them they have to be really good for Santa to bring them. They have been trying to be extra good. What will I do after December 25th? :goodvibes

Yep: and def. against DIS board regs.

Here's her post on the other elf thread:

20% off at www.elfingaround.com
Hi Everyone,

I am the owner of Elfing Around and I would love to offer Disney Board members 20% their Christmas elves. Please visit elfingaround.com, and use the code dis20 in the redeem coupon box. 20% will be taken off your total on a brand new elf visitor (or two). What you'll love about Elfing Around is that each elf comes with 12 different nightly adventure ideas for the parents to create. The kit also comes with nightly notes from the elves, arrival and departure letters from their elf and tattoos. In addition to all that, their very own special elf will send them a birthday postcard during their birthday month. You get all this for less than the price of my competitors!

For those of you who have asked how this works, a plush elf visits each child on Santa's Nice List. The elf arrives before Christmas, creates magic at night while being still during the day, and leaves with Santa and his crew on Christmas Eve. The experience is the most magical new Christmas tradition. The kids LOVE their special elf friend and anxiously anticipate their visit the following year. It will warm your heart, for sure.

Please take advantage of our offer. It's only valid for a limited time - November 21 - December 5, 2009.

Happy Holidays!
Lisa

Got my elf at Home Goods for $4.99.

That being said - happy to have gotten a hamster today. :)

Did anyone see Nightline last night? I was trying to stay awake, so a little fuzzy on some things, but, they interviewed the guy who invented them. He makes them with his 2 daughters and I think they said under 20 employees. Very small company in Ohio I think, which is great that's its here in America right? They never expected it to be THE hot toy of the season. They showed a store called Learning Express in NY waiting on an order and when they finally got it (which it was 1/3 what they ordered), selling out in 1.5 hrs. It was pretty interesting. They did not mention Ebay. Wish I would've went downstairs and DVR'd it. Anyway, they said at the end that they hope to have 4-5 million in stores by Christmas.:goodvibes

There is a reason -- from my experiences with my local Target, whenever anyone calls the store, you're going to have a 90% liklihood that the person on the other end is going to be clueless.

That is because the telephone operator is also the same person stationed at the dressing rooms. In other words, if you ask them a question about the latest fashion styles, you might get the answser you need -- as for anything else left in the store, you're left guessing...

As for shelf space, Target does have a (very small) section for these hamsters. While the aisle location may vary depending upon store design/build, you will always find them positioned between "Polly Pocket" and "Hello Kitty" in the Toys department.

My advice is to try other retailers, as Target was among the last of the big ones to get on board.

Are you 100% sure about that?? Or maybe not fully-awake, perhaps??

As charming as your Nightline story sounds, Zhu Zhu's are imported by Cepia, LLC, a St. Louis-based marketing firm (with their HQ in the county near Lambert International Airport) that has tried many different things (this year, their emphasis was on toys). And, Zhu Zhu's are most definitely not made in the USA, but rather, you guessed it -- China.

Even the very name of this product (Zhu Zhu) is Chinese...
