OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

I don't wonder if Wal-mart, target, etc are not getting smaller shipments and are holding on to them until they get a larger stock pile?

Lara

This appears to be the rumor with Walmart anyway. They are supposedly stockpiling for a future sale. :confused3

For those who have been lucky to find them in the stores, did you find them first thing in the morning?

My mom was lucky enough to be going to Toys R Us one morning and got the last Fun House. They had a sign right on the front door saying they had 20 in stock and you had to go to Customer Service to get them. Now I just need to track down the hamsters. I wonder if stores will hold onto them now until Black Friday!

The manager at my TRU told me this morning that all Zhu Zhus are on 'corporate hold' until further notice. She said they will give Rewards members advance notice of when they will be going out, but they would no longer just be randomly stocking. ugh. And I was doing so well there for a week or two in getting what I needed.

so if TRU take your credit card does the item ship when they get it in stock?

Nope, the order is/was immediately cancelled once the order was submitted due to no stock ,but when you hit submit order your CC still gets dinged the amount. It's only a hold , and will drop off eventually, but in the mean time you don't have those funds available to you.It usually takes a few days for the hold to release.

Had to share something that makes me laugh ~ I'm trying to track down a hamster or 2 and that's it! I call 3 Shopkos daily with no luck ~ on Mon. I stopped in at a local store and had the toys girl scan the Hammy scan thing on the shelf ~ they have 500 on order! I called (just now) a different Shopko in a smaller city nearby and the guy on the phone told me after scanning the scan thing on that store's shelf that they have 300 on order. :rotfl: We'll see if these hamsters actually show up ~ and they sale them for $11.99 when they have them - that's not cool.

I started reading this thread early on, and realizing these Zhu Zhus were in short supply, I picked up two hamsters for a relative's boys in early Sept. In the next two months I was able to pick up 6-7 of the accessories to go with the hamsters. I really wanted to do a girl's gift for the Angel Tree but I lacked a hamster, but had two accessories for her. I finally broke down and went to eBay thinking to buy the Angel Tree kid a hamster there. OMG, have you seen what these Zhu Zhu pets are selling for on eBay?? I could practically fund the kids' college educations by selling my 9 Zhu Zhu items on eBay!! I'm still in shock at the prices people are paying for this stuff! :scared1:

I am very tempted to sell the boys' Zhu Zhu stuff on eBay and use the profits to buy them something they'll like better than the hamsters. They don't know I've bought the Zhu Zhus, and I haven't told their parents yet because they can't keep their mouths shut and always tell the kids what I've bought them. So I don't even know if the boys will want Zhu Zhu pets. Can anyone with wild, rambunctious boys tell me if their 5 & 7 year old boys would even want Zhu Zhu pets? My DH thinks they would prefer something like remote control cars, and games for their X box, but IDK.

And I hope to not get flamed for thinking of selling the Zhu Zhus. I worked as hard as most of you to find these items, and shopped many stores to find them. They were not bought with an intent to resell, but to give to children in our family. I will say if the people selling on eBay had to work as hard as I have to acquire the Zhu Zhus, they've probably earned their profits. :rotfl:

Don't be ashamed, this is a capitalist society and you can do what you want with supply and demand! :thumbsup2

My 7 year old son desperately wants one and he's a wild electronics kid. I will tell you, though, that if he actually got one, I doubt it would last a week before interest was lost.

I can't find them around here though so he has already been informed that he's not getting one.

My son is 4.5 and he wants one. I figure they are in the same genre as R/C cars, etc. Of course, he's also getting a few other remote control things, so it will be an r/c Christmas!

My kiddo got two hammies and several accessories for her 9th birthday in september. She really hasn't played with them in a few weeks now. Back then (in the dark ages ;) ) they were easy to find, and I'm pretty glad I didn't hunt all over the world for em :rotfl:. I do have one for christmas for her that I picked up after her birthday, but I won't go out of my way for em.

just looked at zhuzhupets.com they have a quick (really quick) look at the new things to come next year. I wonder if it will be hard to find too, or will it be easy to come by. I'm thinking the craziness will be behind us and our hampsters will more then likely be collecting dust.

Lots of cool new things coming...lets hope it becomes easier to find!

I can't find them and it is on my DD's 4 and 7's top of X-mas letter to Santa.

Great. I refuse to pay more than what they are retailed. Just not going to happen.

I will continue to look and I have many people looking for me as well, but I may need to leave an IOU note from Santa under the tree! Maybe the Elves came down with the H1N1, LOL.

It would be great to find them b/f X-mas, but, life will go on.

I would imagine many retailers will have these on their sales floors, come Black Friday.

Otherwise, I'm still scratching my head wondering what's the big deal about a mechanical hamster? Cracker Barrel was selling similar things for years (with little to no fanfare or the "uber-hyper" marketing that Zhu Zhu's importer is doing on channels like Nick or Disney XD).

NOt sure if you follow Toys rus on twitter but a message was posted today that most toys rus stores will have 100 hamsters on black friday. the tweet said that the first 100 households would recieve the chance to purchase 1 hamster.

i don't need any additional hamsters but i wonder if there will be any acessories...

Got 2 of my hammies delivered from the order I placed on TRU 11/13!:cool1:

Was able to snag one more yesterday, still waiting for the confirmation of shipment from TRU though.

I saw all the new animals coming out, not just hamsters, and accessories and I think Zhu Zhus will continue to be popular for at least a little while, especially with all the cute new stuff coming out. Anyone seen the pic of Jilly? She is so cute and both my little girls want her, because alas, they love all things pink. And the babies, and the clothes, and the stroller, omg!

JB2K...the craze is coming from the children themselves and the lack of inventory. They all want them. They're cute, cuddly, make funny noises, run around. What's not to like? I think it's hard to get in the mind of a child and see it from the perspective of the fun it brings to them. And I, for one, will try to do whatever I can to make my kids happy on Christmas morning. So, if that means stalking these things, then I guess that's what I'll do. :goodvibes

This is not a rumor at my walmart. I know for a fact that there has been an entire skid of zhu zhu pets wrapped in plastic in the back with a sign that says "hold for Christmas release" since mid-October. The exact date of "Christmas release" is unclear, though obviously those who know about it are hoping it'll be for BF. :worship:

Interestingly enough, they've put out quite a few zhu zhus since then - pretty much at least once a week as soon as they come in on the truck - but they're not allowed to touch this one skid in the back. Last week they even moved it off the back floor to a spot high up, to be sure no unauthorized items found their way out.

What we've been able to gather is that these are zhu zhus which have not been okayed for release yet - presumably Jilly and friends ? - so even IF we were to be able to get one out, they would not be in the system for checkout. I'd sure like to take one for a little hammie walk to the register anyway to see for myself though... :rolleyes1

I also have talked to several WalMart stores that confirmed they were receiving shipments of Zhu Zhu's on October 27th. I checked back but none of the pets have made it to the shelf :thumbsup2 I think I think I might check out the receiving area for myself next time I am working one in one of the stores

Oh boy,
I've been hearing all the rumors about Wal-Mart and TRU perhaps holding back stock for Black Friday but I just assumed it would be for the hamsters that are already out. Which, fortunately, I don't need. But, if in actuality it's Jilly and friends. Well, that's a whole new ballgame. I better get ready for round two of my zhu zhu hunt :teeth:

You can get them at $8 from Amazon.com if you get them when they are in stock by Amazon.com and not third party sellers which are very expensive. An $8 Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster from Amazon in-stock, sells for $50 or higher from some of the Amazon 3rd party sellers.

Try this tool which lets you monitor the moment it becomes available online on Amazon.com's stock. It works much better than the email notification programs that email you once an item is in stock - by the time you get the email and check on Amazon, the item is sold out again. With this tool, you monitor an item on Amazon in real-time, and as soon as Amazon restocks the item, you get an alarm. Then you jump in and scoop up the item (at Amazon's retail price) before they sell out again. Kind of like jumping to the front of the line. It has worked really well for me.

Check it out at

watchmyitems.com

See the tutorials at the web site to learn how it works. Takes about 5 minutes to figure it out, very easy. You'll need to know the Amazon ID number (ASIN) which you can always find on a product page under the "Product Details" section.

Here's the tool with a monitor watch setup for "Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Mr. Squiggles - Light Brown"

watchmyitems.com?item=B002BHDXY0

Give it a try, I can buy my kids a few Zhu Zhu Pets at the retail price of $8 instead of just 1 for $50+!
