OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

That royally sucks! The store should not have allowed that to happen!!!!!

I agree, but when you think about it, it's no more wrong than those customers who are buying them out just to resell them on ebay. BOTH, in my opinion, are wrong. Just buy what you need and leave the others for those who want them. Greed is the reason why these things aren't available to all of us - employees buying them before they hit the shelves, customers buying all that DO make it to the shelves to resell at a HUGE inflated price on ebay to us suckers who didn't get in line before them.

I'm SO glad that Toys R Us has a preorder going, which is how I'll be getting mine. I refuse to buckle and buy from "thieves" selling on ebay. (I quote thieves because, yes, they are buying and not stealing, but they are robbing those who buy from them at those astronomical prices.)

My DD is only 4, so although she saw the commercial and asked for them, I will never stoop so low as to buy them from ebay. No way will I encourage people to continue to do this, year after year, with the next "big thing". My daughter will be just fine is she doesn't get them (now, and at the ages of 7, and 12, and 16. Whatever the item may be)

Sorry, off my soapbox now. :upsidedow

I don't have a problem with employees buying them if they're not on the clock - or anyone who makes it there fair & square with the cash before me. A few weeks ago, a woman bought all fifty that'd come in the night before as soon as the store opened at 6 am. It was irritating to be told about it later but, since they were already gone, it wasn't a big deal for me.

It should be noted though that WM won't hold hammies for customers who call or see them on the shelf but don't have enough cash for a day or two. It's first come, first served - so it should be the same with employees too - not a stack of unopened boxes left sitting in the back on hold for a single employee. THAT'S what's wrong...:headache:

It's early in the season yet. Heck, I like ebay much better than the mall, if I have to buy a pink one there, I would without second thoughts - but I'd snipe lots of them in those last three seconds of bidding until I won one at a price I wanted to pay. Just like waiting in early morning lines, eventually persistence pays off.

Don't get me wrong - I have no issues with employees purchasing something while they're off the clock. I DO have issues with them taking advantage of their position and buying ALL of them!

There are so many young kids out there who'd love to get a certain item for Xmas, but they can't because there are too many people out there with dollar signs in their eyes. :confused3

Just to let everyone know. TRU now has the bed, carrier, and 2 blankets on their site now. They were available earlier today, than before I could tell anyone, they were out of stock again, now they're available again, in case anyone is looking for this particular item.

I just attempted to put one in my cart but it keeps saying "your cart is empty" or something like that. Then the site crashes

So I feel good today. I had a few extra Zhu Zhu items, so instead of taking them back to the store, I listed them on e-bay. So why do I feel good about that?

Because I made $0.80 profit on Pipsqueak!! That's it. I only listed them to save the hassle of hetting back to an out-of-town TRU, so I feel good about passing on these wonderful toys, and crazy people didn't bid it up to a crazy price.

Maybe this means the stores are getting better about stocking them?

Oh no...when did you order? I've had a preorder in since 8/29!!!
what's with this? :scared1: I'm hoping I don't get one....Barb

I preordered as well (recently) but I didn't get a cancellation, I got a delay.

Crappity crap crap!

TRU e-mailed me with a cancellation as well! And I pre-ordered in August.

I had picked up hamsters/accessories for a friend's kids...oh well, those will now go to my DD.

I mean...they said shipment of 11/15.....and they're getting them spasmotically in the stores...what kind of inventory control do they have? Are they sending them to the stores instead of filling our orders instead?
I'm so upset..:sad2:..Barb

I just noticed the TRU site has the pink hamster Jilly shown with NEW next to her and the others. Do you think that means they're finally shipping the newer ones?

LOL - not like I'm finding the ones out now, might as well look for ones that aren't even released yet - I'd probably have about the same luck...:rotfl2:

My mother had a similar issue with a gifts she ordered in the past for my children.

Their inventory control system is crappy and they suck at notifying customers properly.

They are unreliable at times which is unfortunate. I ordered a DS for my daughter from them and I was on pins and needles until it showed up.

I'm not shocked that your orders got cancelled and as long as they haven't taken your payment and refused refund--sadly there is little that can be done. I try to give them as little of my on-line business as possible.

Just wondering... if faced with the choice of just one or two items are any hammies or accessories harder to find/more popular than others? :confused3

I know DD8 would be thrilled to have the pink one but didn't realize they weren't out yet. She's got a pink hammie and clothes on her list. Guessing those'll be even harder to find in stock. Maybe I should start watching ebay for zhu zhu now instead of waiting to find locally - do you all expect prices to get better or worse as the holidays near?

DD8 still believes in Santa for what is probably the last year. I'd hate to add fuel to the fires of doubt before absolutely neccessary...

I would say that ebay prices are only going to get worse. For me, calling and calling and or driving to different stores is better than paying those prices, but I understand your reasoning. To my knowledge no hamsters that are currently out are harder to find than others. There is buzz about this second wave of hammies but they have not been released yet. I anticipate the pink one being hard to find just because everyone will want her (except me, I have a boy :thumbsup2). I would look locally for a little longer before heading to ebay. Here is some pixie dust to bring luck to your hunt! pixiedust:

They sent me a cancellation also for the Zhu set. I had already purchased most of the parts already anyways as I was worried about them pulling something. I only have 1 hamster though and I don't think I have the ball, so I will need to focus on finding those to get everything I need. TRU really ticks me off. They need to honor their presale. I will reserve my business for elsewhere as a matter of principle.

Well I finally found some accessories yesterday morning. My local TRU got a shipment in. I called the night before, and they got about 100 hammies (limit 1 per person, per day), and about 5 different accessories, but they only got one of each one, and there was no limit on them.
So I felt like I was on a recon-mission in the military or something. :lmao: If you choose this impossible mission, and get captured, your on your own.:rotfl2:
I got to TRU an hour early, as the heavens opened up a rained a flash flood down upon us. By the way I have 3 kids in tow- because it is fall break here and they are out of school. My oldest is in on the plan, but the younger 2 don't have a clue (they still believe in Santa), so Mommy had to tell a little white lie and say that I was there to see if they had a doll for their cousin's birthday. My youngest DD, which is too smart for her own good, said that their cousin must really want that doll.:lmao:
So we are the first ones there, besides some of the workers I see go in, and it's pouring. Luckily we have a DVD player in the truck, so I turned on Wall-E and the 3 year old was content, the two DD's had their DS games, so they were fine, and Mommy sat watching the entrance to TRU parking lot.
At 9:30 they started coming in droves, first one, then another, then another, you get the point. By 20 minutes till, the parking lot was at least half full. Everyone knew what the other was there for, but it was raining so hard, that no one was getting brave enough to get out of their vehicles. Then believe it or not, it started raining harder, the wind picked up, and the thunder started.
My 2 DD's are pretty responsible, so I told the oldest one that I was going to leave them in the truck with their games and movies, because they were not going to get out in this. Mommy would lock the door, so no one bothered them.
(Before you flame me for leaving my kids in the car, it was not hot, or cold, they were comfy and happy, and most importantly dry. Also, we live in a small town in KY, they weren't in downtown New York or anything.)
The DDs looked out the window, and were completely fine with that idea. My DS never looked up from Wall-E, so I assumed he was okay with the plan too.
Then at 15 till I decided to make a run for it while I could. I was in the front of the parking lot, but as soon as I opened my door, I seen several other people, see me, and do the same. I ran to the door, soaked to the bone. Our TRU does not have a covered area in the front, so there I was in the rain, looking at the locked door. I looked behind me to see at least 20 people.:scared1: Some of them had small children, who were crying and screaming, because even with umbrellas, they were getting soaked. A few gave up and went back to their cars.
About 10 of us actually stood there, looking at each other. Some said they were there for the hamsters. I wondered where they had been, because I had seen so many of them at Wal-Mart in the last 2 weeks, I could have opened my own hamster pet store.:confused3
Finally, the door opened, I grabbed a cart and made my way to the Zhu Zhu isle. I got the wheel, another ball (so my DDs can race their hammies), skateboard, slide, and surfboard, threw them in my cart and ran out the other end of the isle. (did I happen to mention that besides the hammies, that was all they had.:rolleyes1) I don't know what happened behind me because I never looked back. I'm sure some didn't make it out. :rotfl:
I ran to the counter, paid, and got the heck out of there. I threw the stuff in the back of the Durango, (where the doll was, that I had bought their cousin at TRU a week ago), so I could prove that I really was getting her a doll. :thumbsup2
Mission Accomplished!:cheer2:.
So now my Zhu Zhu hunt is officially over, until the new hammies and accessories (babies, and outfits) are released. And, I must say, I am more than relieved.

We thought we were all set, because we had ordered the giant hamster play set from Toys R Us. Then yesterday we got an email telling us that they were cancelling the order. We had been in one of our local Walmarts back in September and by chance they had a couple of hamsters and the fun house play set. We couldn't remember if the fun house was part of the giant set or not so we bought it. Thank God, because if we knew it was part of the set we would have left it for someone to buy and stop stressing over. We also picked up the 3 hamsters that DS 4 has pointed out.

Now, we have been looking on line and in every store we can think of to try and piece this thing together. The same Walmart had hamsters again, but no accessories.

Looking forward to spending the next 2 months trying to track this stuff down.

I just want to clarify - is everyone's preorder cancelled, or delayed? Every is saying canceled, but mine said it was postponed. Postponed is fine by me, my DD's bday is at the end of February, but CANCELED would p*ss me off. ;)
