OMG! Woman assaulted in "The Mummy" at US/IOA!

I hope the surviellance tape shows something. This is terrible. I wonder where it was, I have never seen the line empty, maybe someone saw something?:confused3

Ya, it seemed kind of weird that it could happen in a queue. If she was screaming and there are all those people there, it is odd that no one would hear anything. There should be several surveillance cameras that should show something and there are employees who walk through the queue. I'm sure we'll find out what happened soon.

Wasn't there a thread somewhere else about someone getting attacked on WDW property? It was w/in the last couple of weeks.

I use the Mummy Express queue all the time. There is a section right after you enter the main building where you won't come into contact with anyone unless someone is right in front or behind you. The ride is rarely busy enough for that area to have multiple groups in it. Probably happened there.

Bad things happen everywhere. Thats the cost of getting all those people together at once. The disney folks are reall up in arms about THIS but not about the rape that happened on a cruise line, the stabbing that happened in a parking lot, or the knife fight that happened at Pleasure Island.
Not justifying anything, just saying that if you get all those people and let them go crazy....this was bound to happen.

Remember, this is an alleged attack. Also remember that this person said she was in the express line and followed this guy out of the express line. That's what makes it hard to picture where it could have happened that no one could have heard or seen anything. It sounds like there were people around because the woman said that the sounds of the ride drowned out her screams. She must have been awfully close to the ride for this to happen. I think that rules out the first room and many other areas.

The fact that this person was over 6 feet 6 inches, should help authorities to identify him on surveillance video.

Scumbag! I hope they catch this guy and send him to jail for a good long time.

This is a serious crime, and a bad place for it to happen, so I am really not trying to make light of this, just to make that clear. But this COULD be a scam. The more I hear about this, the more I hear lawsuit. She was not raped, assaulted, not raped. She was drug into an area where there was no people.....sure there are those areas, but in a busy theme park, on a busy day, on a busy ride? Not very likely. Also, there was no suspect. There was no investigation mentioned in the article by the park. There are cameras all over the express line, around every nook and cranny...yet no one saw this woman being drug into an empty hallway. It all just seems too random for me. Usually a rapist will choose his victim a little more carefully, and wait for a more opportune time than the circumstances given, from what I've read. The disney cruise line thing...that was more the speed of a rapist, threaten possibly hit, and get to a place where there would be no chance of interruption.
Again, I'm not saying this woman is not telling the truth, I hope she's not...simply because its a terrible thing that no one should be in fear of, let alone at a theme park...the one place where we go to escape reality. But you have to look at everything.....Disney had an occurance on NYD....this story allegedly happened one day before their story broke. What would take the focus off of a disney rape case? A rape case at the park of your rival. Not to say that disney would do that....if this lady is in fact lying, she could be looking to make a buck off of Universal. Again, I'm not trying to take anything away from this lady and make her look bad...things just dont add up for me, and I really really hope this isnt true. If it is true, I hope they get the perp really quick. That means that he's out and about in Orlando. Not only is Universal at risk...but so are the other parks....including disney.

Do you have a link to the incident at Disney? I haven't heard about that one on NYD. I certainly haven't seen in on the community board.

I am glad I read this tonight and not this morning!
We rode that ride several times today!!

Any time a woman reports an assault, somebody always immediately uses phrases like, "don't add up" and "not saying she's lying" and "doesn't make sense".

Sure, you went out of your way to say that you weren't saying that she was lying, all the while saying that you didn't believe her story.

The more I read your post, the more I think, "wow, how can anybody be so blind, naiive, or kneejerk." I'm not saying I'm not saying you're blind, naiive, or kneejerk, all I'm saying is that certain things about your post don't make sense to me. Your logic just doesn't add up. It's just suspicious that you doubt someone's story without even knowing the whole story, without ever talking to her, without waiting for any official agency to conduct an investigation.

I'm just sayin', wait until the police conduct an investigation before accuse a woman you know absolutely nothing about of committing a felony by filing a false police report. That's a serious allegation that could actually hurt the woman emotionally if it turns out to be false; personally, I'm going to wait until the police make some mention of a possible false report before I start thinking, "false report."

Well I am certainly glad you are hear to tell me when to start thinking things. And I will be the first to apologize if it turns out differently. But I'm not going to apologize for my suspicions. I honestly hope its not true. Not for any other reason than the fact that it happened in a place where we are supposed to be off our guard, and disconnected from reality, and I dont want my mental image of places like that...or a disney cruise line....to change. Could something like this happen? Most definately, has it happened? Most likely. But there are things in what has been reported that doesnt make sense to me. Maybe I am blind, naive, or kneejerk (*** that is) but I am what I am. And I have seen things like this happen before, and I have seen it come out both ways. Thanks.

And Damo, the disney cruise line incident was on the boards...just not in the community boards.

There is a suspect who is in custody on that case. That one adds up a little bit more than the other, in my opinion.

my first thought when i read the paper was, why would any woman follow a man she did not know.

if anyone hears anymore on this story, post it here for the rest of us so we can follow it also.

if there are places that are unsecured, i would want to be aware of them.

i keep thinking about where in that area outside the line could anyone be taken that is in a hidden unused area.

i know i would not follow a stranger by myself.

i hope the police and UO staff are sucessful in getting to the bottom of this.
any man that grabs another woman or person, should be prosecuted.
