Dilemma: I have a ticket (about 5 years old?) with one day left on it (non expire) This belonged to my husband. I want to buy a two day pass for my son who will visiting us while we are on vacation there for a week. He (son) will just be with us for the remaining two days. I've already purchased a new six day pass for hubby. Can I use the value of what's left on hubby's ticket to purchase a new two-day park pass. I would do this at a Guest relations window I suppose.

Thoughts?

Once a ticket is used, it is non-transferrable. You could have upgraded that ticket at guest services to the 6-day ticket your DH needed, but you can't transfer that ticket to your son.

No, that ticket can't be upgraded. If it is not the new plastic rfid ticket, it will need to be converted to one at the parks. When I converted some of mine, I was told that the fingerprint media was reset and the tickets could be assigned to anyone in my family to use. I have done this several times with no problems.

Not sure if this is still the case, but if it is, you could let your son use the new
RFID ticket and purchase him an additional single day ticket.

Unless something has changed, you can only upgrade tickets within 14 days of first use. Has this changed?

cvjw has it correct. The old ticket can not be modified in any way, except that it can be changed to a new plastic ticket, and then the finger scan has to be reset. So you can't put the value of it towards a new ticket.

That said, that old ticket is rather valuable! It would be more valuable with more days on it. Disney no longer sells non-expire tickets. We're holding onto our old no-expires and using them for one day visits to WDW.

If you are absolutely certain you would not go to WDW for day, then use it. Otherwise, I'd just buy a new two day ticket.

So, mixed messages here. It is an "old" plastic ticket card (I guess Magic Your Way) with no expiration and one day left. The question is, can I use that as "cash" to apply to a new two-day ticket at Guest Services? Two day tickets are insanely expensive. Second part of that...does it matter if that "old" ticket had a finger scan for DH and now I want to use the new ticket for DS?

I'm going to get flamed. But the older tickets did not really seem to do as well as the new ones on finger scans. (Let's just say my old ticket has had several users :)).

As for upgrades. I'd try it. When you bought the ticket it didn't have these non-customer friendly rules.

I'm thinking about this for an upcoming visit. my thought was, convert ticket to RFD, go in park, go to guest services and see if I can add a day. If not, I go to water park day 2. (My ticket still has 2 of the extras on it)

If the ticket had a finger scan for DH he has to use it. If you have a ticket before they did the finger scan anyone in your group can use it ( I have a few tickets that are between 15&20 years old and any one in my family can use them

Once again, NO. You cannot upgrade it, nor can you put the cash value towards a new two day ticket, no matter how you word the question.

Once again, your ticket dates to pre-RFID, so you will have to go to GS in order to actually use it to enter the park. That takes time. They will convert it to the new RFID ticket.

Further, if you wait until you arrive to buy your son a ticket, then you will miss your opportunity to pre-book any FP for him. most guests now pre-book FP well be fore they arrive at WDW.

To pre-book FP, basically, everyone has to have a ticket linked to their name BEFORE they go to WDW. If you son only has a one day ticket linked to his name, then you'll only be able to pre-book one day of FP for him.

If you want clarification directly from Disney, call (407) 939-4357 and they will give you the official explanation.

Geesh, OK. Look, I've been going to WDW at least once a year for the last 25 years. They just keep complicating things.....I remember back in the day where you could use the remaining days on an old ticket towards the purchase of a new one. The only problem with this is that it has the finger scan associated with this ticket.

If you go once a year then wait till next year or next time you go then you can use it teard your husbands ticket

You can apply the price of an unused ticket to the purchase of a new one, but you have never been able to apply the price of a partially used non-expiring (more than 14 days from first use) toward the purchase of a new ticket.

She cannot use the value of this ticket toward the price of any ticket. The only thing that can be done is using this ticket as is (by her husband.) It cannot be upgraded, modified, or have it;s value applied to anything else.

I would ask - you never know what will happen. I was able to get some tickets upgraded a couple of years ago - against policy - but a CM was able to get an override authorization from a supervisor. Doesn't happen often but it can happen. Same thing happened when we upgraded our APs in June. It made my day and saved us a couple of hundred dollars. Pixie dust does get sprinkled sometimes.

I plan to ask in spite of the "NO" being shouted on here.

And yes in the past I was able to use partially used tickets to upgrade to APs so I know it used to work. I'm not sure where this "never" came from but I did it more than once and it was never a big deal.
