OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Hi everyone!

I have been reading this thread religiously as I've been planning and getting ready for our whirlwind Disney adventure. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the info and tips! Your guys are great!!:worship:

Our trip begins 2 weeks from today and in 3 weeks we will be checking into BCV!!!:cool1::banana:

I have some last minute questions:

1. When will the August activites/movie schedule be out? Just wanted to see what movies there would be and if we would be around so DD could do the Mickey T-shirt activity.

2. We will be heading to BC after disembarking from the Dream so it will be early. I'm assuming our room won't be ready, but I was wondering if we could use any of the facilities, namely SAB, until our room is ready.

We're hoping BC is everything you guys have said it would be and that this is will be our first of many trips there!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! :) Just realized that MNSSHP will be on the go then too... If I don't die from the heat, I think it would be so much fun. Really a fantastic motivator, and a great reward for hard work.

When we were there in May, they had the blue runners... How recent was the Trip Advisor pic?

Thanks for the nice comments about this forum.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

I will hopefully have the schedule on August 1st or 2nd. I can't usually get it before then. As soon as I have it, I will post it here.

As soon as you check-in, you are a guest of the hotel and can use all of the facilities, including SAB. :) You can leave luggage with Bell Services, and there are showers in the Health Club if you need to freshen up.

Thanks, Dee!

I now have the Dis app so I can check the thread before the boat leaves to see if the schedule has been posted.

Had a busy few days and trying to catch up with everything. Does anyone have an update on the lighthouse lightbulb situation? Maybe someone should just pop to reception and mention it lol.

DD(7) finally learned to ride a bike this weekend. (she got a new one as an early birthday present as her birthday is the end of August whilst we at Yacht Club) :thumbsup2 Now of course, I am in panic mode that she may fall off and break something and put an end to our trip!!!!!!!

We exchanged the last of our spends to $$ today and on Wednesday I made the final payment to Disney for our Yacht Club Wedding. Its all getting really close now! Ooh and I booked Dine with Shamu.

Sandcastle club (the kids club at yachet/beach club) question
Both dds are potty trained and we were thinking of sending them there one night while dh and I enjoyed an evening in epcot. They will be three by the time we go. However I read that the cm won't help them at all in te bathroom. Is this true? They are young enough that they may need some help with their pants but I could just put them in dresses and if they do number two they would need help wiping. (sorry about the tmi)
Maybe an in room sitter is the way to go but dd 2 is our foster daughter and there are tons of rules about who can and cannot babysit an you are suppose to get the person approved before hand whereas in a group setting like the kids club there are no such restrictions as long as its licensed.

I'm pretty sure that's right. The CMs aren't allowed to help them in the potty at all. Could you call Kids Nite Out and ask about getting someone pre-approved?
Also, I think the kids have to be 4 in order to go to the kids program.

Amanda

Oohh..... I just realized the kids and I can do what I call the Johnson Family Disney Amazing Race.....going to all 4 parks in one day. I wanted to do this last year but encountered resistance from the kids. Well, this year we are doing it! :)

That made me laugh!!

I'm a day late with the birthday pictures. I was having technical difficulties. Still not sure what was wrong and why I couldn't copy off the pictures Teena sent me.

It seems like only yesterday that Lily turned one, but can you believe she is driving already?!?

What a beautiful little girl! Happy late birthday to her! Teena, you are a blessed grandma. :)

OK, so I'm getting back on the healthy eating (WW) and exercise bandwagon very soon, and I mentioned to DH that a good motivation for me would be doing the TOT 10 miler in 2013. He was very encouraging! I really need to do something to get me up off the couch again... I was doing 5ks about 3 years ago but I've slowly put on about 40 pounds since then and feel very bad about it... My cholesterol is up, and I feel badly about my size, but I need some motivation. I'm worried about the what though... I think it's in September, which is enough time for me to be able to do it, but I'm concerned that the heat will kill me!!! LOL. Thee is a famous 10 mile race here in July so I may aim for that, and have the TOT 10 mile as the reward. September will also be hard with taking the kids out of school. Can't imagine they'll let me go without them! LOL

Congrats on getting healthy! I am doing WW as well--I've actually been on and off it all my life :rotfl:, but this past year I finally added exercise to the mix and what a difference! I hit goal weight in May and made lifetime in late June. :) I started walking, and now--I run! I know that adding in the running will help you...I think that a Disney run sounds like a GREAT motivator! I would love to do one. :)

Have you checked out the Run Disney site?

http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/sports/rundisney/

They have descriptions of all the Disney events so you can shoot for the one that fits your activity profile.

Good luck and may the fork be with you, with healthy food choices and tasty low calorie fare!

Thanks for this! Can't wait to check it out!

I can walk but not run. I so admire anyone that can. Check out www.skinnytaste.com It has great recipes with pics and the WW points listed. Good luck!

Oooh, thanks for this, too! I am always on the lookout for new WW recipes!

Just popping in to say "WHEW" I'm finally caught up. I daresare this is the most prolific thread on the DIS. ;) LOVE reading everyone's updates, though!

Speaking of August...I seem to remember reading something about the BC fitness room being refurbished in August, but now I can't find the info. Does anyone know about a fitness center closure? Thanks!

Has anyone heard anything about this? I'm starting to think maybe I conjured it up myself...:rotfl:

Thanks I think we might just skip it altogether. We have a bit to go but I don't think most 3 year olds are good at the wiping thing.

I double checked, it is three as long as potty trained.

Mike - I can check the lighthouse for you.

I'm also checking the mattress situation for another poster.

Anyone need me to check out anything else?

We are finally all packed. We are leaving around 3:00 this afternoon and hope to be at RPR by 8:00 tomorrow morning. This is our first time leaving in the afternoon. We always left around 9 PM - wish us luck!

Robyn, I'm late to the wish you safe travel party... Hope you had a smooth trip down and you have an amazing time!!

I'm trying to upload pics from my phone to the new Dis app, so here goes......

Here's Grace this morning with my recently-arrived BC/YC pin. Thanks Nanette!

I was wondering if that pin got to you!!! Glad to see it did!

I've been so busy sitting on my couch (still dealing with the broken foot) and haven't been reading the thread I was on page 160 when last read... lots to read!!

DD FINALLY got a job!!! :thumbsup2:cool1:pixiedust::cool1::cool1: She is a lawyer by trade but doesn't want to practice law :confused3 She moved to Texas last September and has been unemployed. She decided to change her career... she was into politics in NYC... needless to say they don't really have the political scene they have in NYC in Texas. She just got accepted Friday into this Teaching Fellows Program and also received a job offer to be a HS College Advisor.. I told her it was going to happen all at once when it happened!!! If she takes the Teaching Fellows Offer she has about a month of daily workshops and teaching interviews and then she will get a grade K-6 and would work on a school year. The college advisor job would work on a school year as well... Now of course this changes the wedding date... she will now be a June Bride and I will have to change the Disneymoon dates! Lucky DVC allows for this... just have to wait until June 26th to make the change. The park tickets were purchased online so don't have to worry about those and nothing else was ready to be booked yet so I'm good!! The wedding is still on in Cancun just instead of April 21, 2013 it's June 21, 2013!!! My ticker will be changing soooon!!!

Cancun here we come 6/19/13-6/26/13!! Disney for the Bride and Groom 6/26/13-7/1/13!

Ok back to your regularly scheduled program!! Thanks for listening!!

That's such good news!! It's nice to hear when someone gets a job. It always gives me hope. I was laid off 2 years ago.

Just keep applying!! She gave up an amazing job in NYC as the Chief of Staff to a NYC Council Member. She was so down... and she hated living in Dallas.... she moved to be close to her now fiance... it's been hard lots of walking her off the ledge, but it finally happened!! When you least expect it it will happen!!!

Good Luck!

Great news for your DD! Congrats to here. I love teaching even with all the struggles and I hope she does too!

Thanks Cindy! I got to warn you on that 6:05 flight...We did that one in 2010 (did the 11:40 in 2009 and I felt we got in too late) and it was longer sercurity lines than I expected..it was a weeekday though. So prepare for that...it was long! THe last two years we did the 8'ish or so AM one and it was a lot better and not having to get up so crazy early.....But still early! DH makes us leave 3 hours ahead for the flight and we are 30 minutes from the airport!!!

We're actually flying down on a Friday. DH's BIL is a dispatcher at the airport. He and SIL live in Moon, so we're going to go to their house and he will drop us off at the airport and pick us up the next Thursday, so we don't have to pay for parking. I am planning to be at their house at 4 am at the latest, so I think we're all sleeping in our clothes the night before! :rotfl2: Or else, we're flying in our jammies! I did the 8 am flight in December on Airtran and was able to use the alternate security line....walked right through at 5:45 am (but it was a Sunday). When we drive, we always leave my mom's house at 4 am for the 9 hour drive, so this time we'll just get to BC a lot earlier!!

The kids and I just finished watching a couple of Disney programs on the Destination America Channel. I had to pause one of them when an aerial picture of the Epcot Area resorts was on the screen so DD8 could find the jib slide at SAB!

Nanette hopefully things are starting to turn a corner with your luck. Congrats to Stephanie and her hunka burning love Stan! I think your daughter's courage and flexibility in moving to be closer to her love is a testament to her talent and abilities. It takes a lot to have the confidence to go for what you want in life and I think she will be fabulous in her new career!
