OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

If you stand in the middle of the lobby at the YC in front of the big globe and look out the front door, if you put your right arm straight out to the side, you'd be pointing to a tiny little area (an alcove). They have breakfast stuff in there in the morning.

Thank you, I never knew this existed.

The only time someone at BW can use SAB is if their large pool is down for maintenance. Then they are allowed over to SAB. Their room keys will also be checked. If their pool is not shut down, they are NOT allowed at SAB.

Thanks for confirming.

Just for my future reference-- is the "front" of the resort considered to be the Crescent Lake entrance? Or the driveway entrance?

front is the driveway entrance, back is the lake entrance

My bad. Never really come in the "front" unless we are on a bus or the first day ME arrival. Always come in from the lake returning from Epcot or HS so I always think of this as the front. Edited my prior response accordingly.

Quick synopsis of yesterday and this morning:

Arrived at BC @ 10:30 yesterday and immediately saw World’s Best Cast Member. The check in/check out desk was super busy as you might imagine on a Monday morning. Teena made sure we were taken care of and we were off to the 5th floor. To my surprise our room (4557) was ready. We were in by 11:15.

After some unpacking (love that wife of mine) and chatting with Teena we were off to EPCOT. (Got to meet gokimiko!) We headed straight to SSE just to get us in the WDW mood. “A Grand and Miraculous Journey”. After a few rides and just some good old soaking up the atmosphere we headed over to LeCellier for our welcome home dinner. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Never felt rushed. Spent a good two hours in there. It doesn’t seem near as busy as it once was now that it is a two credit restaurant. We came back to BC to enjoy some resort time. I grabbed the camera and went to snapping. I ended back at EPCOT for Illuminations. I left my tripod st home  so I did some not so good fireworks photography using a trashcan.

Today was an up early, up to the lounge for breakfast and over to HS for rides, rides, rides……..Note to any early risers for HS. I had read that they are now opening early so we arrived @ 8:40 and the gates were already open. Straight through and on to TSMM. Evidently the FP machines don’t kick in until after 9 and this was around 8:50. The CM’s were just handing out FP’s so I show my tickets and grab 4. Well the wife and daughter still hadn’t made it there yet so I handed my tickets to Pierce (DGS) and he grabs 4 more. So we rode, hopped on over to RnRR, grabbed FP’s and rode TOT. Then back to RnRR to use FP’s. Went back and used up TSMM FP’s and rode Star Tours. All this done by 11:30. Took the boat back and tried ESPN for lunch.
Everyone is crashing right now (except me of course). Still have not been in SAB but have a feeling that will come later in the week. Still pretty commando right now. We have dinner ressie’s at Via Napoli and nothing planned after that. MK and The Plaza for lunch tomorrow.

Till then....

Thanks for the fantastic report! Sounds like a couple of perfect days so far. Keep on having fun!!! So far sounds like a couple of great meals in the works!

Hey,

We'll be at the BC CL-GV July 4-8. Looking forward to seeing other DISers. I am not sure if we will have the BC pins ( I already messaged Nanette and am waiting to see). I always do have the alien green mickey head on our backpack and will make sure I post what room we are in so that anyone can drop by and leave a note if they'd like. If anyone wants to meet up, Let me know. We are hanging out at the hotel all day on the 4th.

counting down!!

Hi! That sounds like fun! That's what we are going to do. Do the SAB thing and stroll around. Oh cool. We should get a group together! :)

Mike - sounds like a great start to a magical trip!

Thanks for posting - let us know if the evening offerings at the BC CL lounge seem any different than usual. We are of course, on a campaign to bring back the nightly oreo bon bons!

Just wanted to say hello, I have read all the pages on this thread and have just booked to stay at YC 21st-30th August 2013. Thank you everyone for all the information on here it has been really useful in helping us to book, we kept considering moderate resorts but after reading all the wonderful things about YC/BC we HAD to book to stay here. Plus my DBF has never been to WDW (or even America!) before and I haven't been since 2005 so we're really excited. Only 428 days till we go! :rotfl2:

Yes the only thing that drives my DH crazy at WDW is the coffee. We both love a good cup if coffee and the coffee at WDW just does not cut it for us  We are however willing to deal with it for a week at a time :woohoo:

We have been known to bring a small french press and pre ground coffee. We use the in room machine to boil the water:confused3

So glad to hear that you are having a great trip so far! If you don't mind, I would love to hear what you thought of Via Napoli for dinner-- we have never been and are considering it for our next trip. Enjoy the rest of your time at the BC! ::MickeyMo

No worries at all! I actually didn't even notice the discrepancy between what you and Teena reported. Was just curious for my own reference. And I agree with you that it can get quite confusing since we also never really use the "front" entrance post check-in. :)

Mike, my husband is very into photography- but he's never been able to bring a tripod before because it was too much of a hassle. This will be his first time staying at Beach Club. I can't wait to suggest we bring the tripod, since it'll be easy to go back & forth! Are there any good locations you can recommend
for fireworks shots? Thanks!

Mike--Thank you for the live report! I love to live Disney vicariously through others until we go again!! :goodvibes

Just wanted to thank Nannette for the pins (as soon on Page 1). They arrived over the weekend. Now I just need to add our names to them...and make sure we wear them while we are there in October.

Welcome :thumbsup2

Hey,

Hmm... did I mail you a pin?? I'm not sure if I got a message from you. I've mailed out so many pins the last few weeks...If you sent me your address and I replied that I put it in the mail then it should be arriving soon... if I did not reply to you I never got a message from you so PM me and I'll see what I can do for you... I'm still working from home, but I might have a pin here that I can get out to you ASAP otherwise it doesn't look good unless I send it to the resort with your name on it. Anyway let me know!

~Nannette

We'll be there!! My daughter is 11, turning 12 on this trip, so if you have kids she would love to meet up at SAB! We're planning HS that day, but if it's too crowded we will not spend all day there. Plus, we usually spend the afternoon at the pool. Hope to see you!

We are thinking about booking the Beach Club this fall. Does anyone have any insight into the difference between the standard and garden view rooms?

Allears only lists two views, standard and pool/water. I guess they added another distinction, and Allears is a little out of date.

You just might see me in the lobby on the 4th.

Does this mean Richard got our emails?:rotfl2: Just kidding, of course. Hope to see you there!!! 8 more days. I can't believe it's been two years since we were there!

Yes, the garden view category was added a couple of years ago. This is from the FAQ on Page 1 (Post 12):

What will the view from my room be?

Effective with reservations on January 1, 2011, the view categories at the Beach and Yacht Clubs were reclassified into 3 booking categories:

Standard view- parking lot or rooftops
Garden view- something green- trees or courtyard
Water view- lake or pool
