OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I'm makin' a list and checking it twice

Actually, I don't have time to check it twice, so please take a moment to look at the Be Our Guest list to make sure your vacation info is listed correctly.

Thanks!

:santa:

I noticed our dates are not quite correct. We will be at BCV from October 14 to the 26th.

Thank you so much for all the work you put in here. This thread is a wealth of information!:thumbsup2

Got answers!!!

CRIBS: Talked to a housekeeping manager regarding cribs. They do have cribs that meet all the new standards. However, there are very few and they cannot be reserved. So, the answer is yes, we have cribs. If it were me personally, I'd probably hope for the best and call housekeeping the second we checked in to request one. If one was not available that day, I'd find out when one would be available. If it wasn't the next day, then I'd call a crib rental company and ask for one to be delivered ASAP. If one can't be delivered that day, I'd use a pack n play until the next day when one could be delivered. I'd certainly try for the free one first but then I'm cheap!

CHILDREN UNDER THREE AND SAB: Talked to a recreation manager. She said absolutely a child two and under does NOT need a room key to get into SAB. She said if someone at SAB tells you you do need a key for the baby, immediately ask to speak to a coordinator or manager!

Thanks for letting me know. I'll make the adjustment to the dates.

Thanks for the positive comments- I appreciate them!

I know. Bob and I will miss seeing you and the family too. We soooo enjoyed your kids in the pool last year! Wish you were going to be there when we are there with Jeanne and Lily next week!!

No way Samantha is that old!!!

You know what, PM me about a week before your arrival and maybe we can swing in and meet you for dinner Friday night ... no promises but we'll see how things are looking. (I wish we didn't live an hour away!) And if we go early I'm sure we can get in without a reservation.

I'll definitely PM you once we get closer to our arrival! We originally were booked to come mid-August (I think the 15th), but I had to change our dates based on when school is starting, so we could have been there at the same time :sad2: . I hope you have a wonderful visit with Jeanne and Lily, and I hope your little princess loves her 1st Disney trip!
Samantha will be 9 next week....time has really flown. Two years ago, on our 1st trip, she was all into princess things....now it's roller coasters and Phineas and Ferb. ;) Hunter is so excited...he keeps asking how many days til we go to Florida and has already picked out his 1st rides at each park. He turns 5 in November and will do Pre-K this year. :) He also talks about going down the Jib slide. I foresee lots of trips down the slide! :rotfl:

Just curious if any of you that have been recently noticed or took advantage of any Bounceback offers, if there were any in the rooms?

Yes, the usual one was in our room the entire trip. I didn't really check it out though. But it looked like the pocket watch they have used in the past.

Does anyone know what the in-resort shop gift offer is this year? I know in previous years at FQ its been a resort bag, then its been watches and more recently suitcases.

My wife and I talked about this while there. The gift was an expandable duffle bag for $14.99 (we think) with a minimum amount spent (maybe $30 or $40) We also remember a Starter Pin Collector set or Beach Type Bag as well. We can't remember the amounts for each though. Sorry.

:welcome: new friends!!!

What are the dates of your inaugural stay at Y&B?

We actually just decided to add a September trip as well and booked at the YC. So our first check in ever at the YC will be on Sept 15 :cheer2: Two trips to the YC just about a month apart, I am sooo excited!

For the cooler months DH wants to mix it up a bit, so we changed our Feb stay to the WL with bunk beds for DS and DD. I wont push to change Jan from POR either, figure we are spending enough money on deluxes for our others stays that I can live with a mod for that trip, plus DD is excited for the Royal Room princess: But I have a feeling our April trip will be back at the YC or BC.

I have a feeling this is going to be my new home away from home :beach:

I was at the DIS meet, too. I just missed you!

I agree about the heat.....it wasn't too terribly bad. My hair and the humidity do not mix well so I apologize to anyone who saw my crazy-looking hair! It was much hotter in June 2010.

We didn't encounter as many tour groups as we have in the past. We saw them sitting in stores and on grassy areas, but really didn't have too much of a problem with them in line. I was ready to shoot some dude (non-tour group) in line behind us for RnR. He was saying to his companion how he had broken all of the roller coaster records in Orlando (whatever that means!) and how underneath the ENTIRE WDW property, there are tunnels and stores and restaurants for the employees. He kept going on and on and on about it. Aftewards, my kids asked me why I didn't correct him (even they knew he was full of baloney). I told them sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut. ;)

I'm not too surprised about the restaurants not being crowded. Normally, we do lots of TS meals but didn't this trip. I wanted to stay on vacation longer and at a deluxe resort more than I wanted to have ADR's. We used the QSDP instead. We shared lots of meals because the portions are so big. We are all sick of hamburgers and chicken strips but we did manage to have some Mexican food, ribs and pasta. I highly recommend the QSDP! Missing out on the character interaction was something I did miss, though. :(

Glad you had a great trip!

Sorry I missed you at the meet. The old saying "If I knew then what I know now" plays here. If I had known it wouldn't have been a problem to walk-up and get a table at the Biergarten I would have stayed longer at the meet.

The humidity here in Central PA today was worse than anything we had while at Disney.

I will most likely not schedule as many TS meals in advance next trip. There seems to be plenty of opportunities to find a table at a good quality TS restaurant. This may give my scheduling a little flexibility while there.

That's funny you mentioned the utilidors at MK. While we were in line for something at Epcot we overheard someone talking about them being under Epcot also. Everyone in my family kind of looked at me with that look of "Say something." If I remember correctly I think there used to be a thread on the Dis about funny things overheard while at Disney. We should restart that one for some laughs.

Teena, I love you! Thanks for finding this answer for me! I am going to see about getting cribs, but if not we can use pack n plays. We will even have our own to use if we need!

I also appreciate the information about not needing the room keys for the kids for SAB.

You're very welcome. Keep in mind it's ONLY the kids age 2 and under that don't need to show a room key. Age 3 and up still need to show their room keys.

Ok I am seriously excited right now. We are checking with the dog sitter to see if they can watch the dog this weekend!!! if we can get a dog sitter this spontaneous trip is really going to happen. Southwest free flight have made lots of trips to Disney this year. But it has been a very rough year so it is really awesome that we keep escaping to our happy place:thumbsup2
I so hope to be chilling at SAB this weekend:beach: This might actually be happeningpixiedust:

I just paid off our trip to Walt Disney World-woo hoo! :cool1:
I am so excited, I just wanted to share my enthusiasm.:cheer2:
Is anyone just back from the Yacht Club? I would love to hear about stay, see some pic, know about your club level experience.

Thank you,
Poly :wave2:

No problem with that here! Both of my boys are only going to be 20 months old, so they are both under 2.

Go Couchy! :drive: Go Couchy!!

:dancer:party::rockband:party::dancer:

I have to tell you that as somebody who recently came face to face with my mortality there are only so many tics of the clock that we each have. All too often we decide to take a back seat and just cruise through life when we should really be in the drivers seat and putting the pedal to the metal.

My husband is one of those people that is always afraid to live for today and he always lives in fear of what might happen tomorrow. When those tomorrows were in serious danger of disappearing I decided that no longer would I defer to that kind of sensibility. I got annual passes to WDW and I fully intend to live life and make memories with my kids while I still can.

By beating cancer I got a second chance. I intend to make the best of it and I want to make as many memories as possible. I told my kids that Disney World has been around for 40 plus years. One day they will take their kids there. Hopefully I'll be there with them but if I'm not I know that they will have many stories to tell about how their Mom and Dad took them there when they were kids and tell them about all the memories they made.

Go for it Couchy! You won't regret it!

WOW! This really hit me! I constantly struggle between planning for the future but also knowing that tomorrow is not promised to us. We are definitely have $$ in savings I just struggle spending money. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes while playing college soccer when I was 17. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 21 so I know what you mean( wow i never really admit to either one of those things) I feel like this is our year(AP) and we should not waste it. Tomorrow is not promised to us. I am fairly healthy but who knows what the future holds.
Ninja mom, thank you for reminding me of what it is to not neglect today:thumbsup2

Beautiful words, Ninja Mom! They brought tears to my eyes. I can only hope that our kids remember going to WDW each summer while they were in grade school. We really have created some magical memories.

Thanks for the info DisneyDad in PA.

Has anyone got one of the duffle bags and if so how big is it? I have booked extra luggage allowance so it may come in useful for the return trip :rolleyes1

Bumping this up. Thanks for checking on the info, Teena!

Hi guys! First timer going to yacht club in September. I've booked a standard room with pool/lake view. Can anyone tell me if all of these rooms have a balcony? Thanks in advance!
