OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

This is our 1st trip to the Yacht club as we ususally stay at the GF but due to all of the consrtuction there we decided to go over to the yacht club, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any construction scheduled there in september thanks for all of the great info this thread provides :thumbsup2

thanks, Teena....I will probably do that when I make the change...that way he can spend the night with us if he wants to....;)

I hope you don't mind, but I just want to piggy back on this even though you have already decide to add him. :goodvibes

They did give us a room key for our 1 yo at at YC and BC and I was asked for it sometimes at SAB. The first time I did not have it and I had to go back to the room to get it. I didn't forget after that!

Have a great trip! :yay:

Whoa, ... I've always been told you don't need a key for under 3. In fact, on some of our rooms that sleep five, if you have a total of five people over 3 years old plus a baby under three (that would make a total of six people) you can bring him/her but they can't get a key because we can't have more than five people on the reservation. I will double check this with recreation tomorrow to see if they are now asking for keys for infants.

Ok, Teena, let us know what you find out. I am a total rule follower...drives the rest of my family crazy:lmao:

I'll check tomorrow but as far as I know we still have cribs ... not alot though.

This could be because the federal crib standards have changed and all hotels and child care centers must have compliant cribs by 12/31/12. Most facilities are choosing to use pack and plays as it is more cost effective than buying new cribs!

We are 5 plus 1 and got 6 keys at BC CL last September and at YC CL in June. Well, on second thought, they were KTTW cards with her name on them, but I never checked to see if they opened the door :confused3 The only thing we ever used them for was for entrance to SAB.

Pinkgirl, you must be so excited!! Loved yesterday's Opening Ceremonies by the way. You must all be proud.:thumbsup2

It was amazing!!!!!! DD stayed up until 10pm and we were up until after 1am. I had tears streaming down my cheeks most of the time!

OK, guess the new reservation system allows that. Our old system (that went away in December) would not allow more than 5 total in rooms that slept 5.

I second this...we were asked last summer for our 2yo's room key for access to SAB as well.

I did luckily have it but was told we wouldnt need it...it might depend on how busy it is because that day we were asked the pool was packed!

Checking in one week from today!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

I have so much to do this week, my oldest DS is having a birthday party, and I have to do all the back to school shopping since we return the day before school starts! I'm starting to panic about getting everything done as well as all the packing too!:eek::eek: But its all worth it of course :cloud9::cloud9:

Us too!!:banana::cool1:

I was told the same thing about full size cribs...there is no way that our DS will stay in a pack'n play. The one we have now is a glorified toy box:rolleyes:
So we are renting one from a baby's best friend. We've used them before and all their cribs are up to code.

Hey Cindy, thanks for the invite to dinner. If we didn't live 31 miles away from the Y&B, we'd love to join you. I imagine we'll be busy packing Friday night.

Maybe we'll be on the same cruise next summer. We will probably do one .. it will definitely be a 7 nighter though. What month are you thinking about?

The kids are going to be sad that they won't get to see you this year. They really enjoyed seeing you and Bob at the pool and in the lounge last year!

Right now, we're looking at a 4 night on the Dream in August (trying to go the week that Samantha turns 10). For the first cruise with the kids, I thought we'd try 4 days. I want to try to get in a couple of days pre-cruise somewhere on Disney property, and I can't take off enough time to do a 7 day cruise and 2 or 3 days pre-cruise at WDW all at the same time. Samantha will be starting middle school next year, so I think my vacation trips in September are over. It's much easier to take more time off after the prime months of June/July/August are over...this year I'll have 12 days off for our Sept. trip.

I know. Bob and I will miss seeing you and the family too. We soooo enjoyed your kids in the pool last year! Wish you were going to be there when we are there with Jeanne and Lily next week!!

No way Samantha is that old!!!

You know what, PM me about a week before your arrival and maybe we can swing in and meet you for dinner Friday night ... no promises but we'll see how things are looking. (I wish we didn't live an hour away!) And if we go early I'm sure we can get in without a reservation.

Hello all my BC buddies!

Got in at the BWV at 2:30 this morning, soon to be followed by a 6:51 AM tee time at Lake Buena Vista.

BWV is treating us well, but we still paid homage to BC by having lunch at Beaches and Cream, fantastic as always. Swam and napped for a while, then had a fantastic dinner at the Wave, followed by a quick round of Buzz Lightyear. Saw a couple of tour groups, one of them huge! Ironically, the large group was pretty well behaved, but some of the others were running around like lunatics. I didn't let them spoil my first day though, and now my wife and I are relaxing over cocktails at the Top of the World Lounge while waiting for Wishes. All in all, one of the most relaxing days I've enjoyed in quite some time. Ask away if you have any questions!

DS2 had a card and it did open the door and it let us get to the 5th floor from the elevator. I was surprised (kind of). I really only used it by accident. And they did ask for his key at SAB as others have said. Now at CR during that same stay he was not issued a card so I assumed it was because of SAB or CL (since the last trip CR CL he had one too). It didn't matter, just a little thing to ponder.

Phew!

We are finally home from our magical trip! Checked out of BC yesterday and made it home at 11:30am today due to delays in ATL on Delta. The kids and I spend the night in Atlanta's airport last night. I don't recommend sleeping in an airport!

I just got done downloading our pictures into iPhoto, but haven't uploaded them to photobucket yet. When I do, I'll post them here!

We had two fabulous rooms at BC! 1555 is a pool view whose patio opens up to the quiet pool. It's also very close to IG! I can't say enough good things about it! Our second room was 4648. Oh. My. Goodness! It's huge! The location for this room is wonderful, too.....it's just off the main elevators. A previous poster posted pics of the view from 5648....yup...that's the view from 4648 also, just not as high.

Every CM we encountered was outstanding! Disney hires the cream of the crop at BC! My favorites are Teena (of course!), Lauren, and Chip at Concierge.....he cracks me up! His winking and calling the ladies "darlin" was too cute! He's a cutie patootie, too!

SAB....what more can I say? It is, by far, the best pool complex our family has ever been to! We enjoyed it more there than we did at either TL or BB!

Beaches and Cream. Two words...Kitchen Sink! Enough said....

I honestly don't know how we will ever be able to stay at another resort after being spoiled at BC. I bought a matted print from the Marketplace just so I can have a piece of the BC at home.

There were two magical moments of my trip that I wanted to share. Of course, we had many more than two, but I can't wait to share these! The kids and I were at DTD waiting for the bus to take us back to the resort. A bus pulled up with fogged windows. The two transportation people working at DTD saw the freshly fogged windows and started drawing Mickey and Donald with their fingers on the fogged windows. They had a competition going as to who could draw the best character the fastest. It was really fun and spontaneous!

The second event was we were taking the Friendship Boat from DHS back to BC. The boat was crowded with tired and sweaty people. The CM who made the announcements announced there were people on board celebrating their one year anniversary so he led the whole boat in singing Happy Anniversary. He also sang two other songs and the whole boat of tired and sweaty people joined in! Hearing everyone sing instantly put me in a better mood (and brought tears to my eyes...I'm such a sap!). OK, after reading this, it doesn't sound too magical but trust me, it was!

NinjaMom.....I was waiting for you with my commando gear on to go raid YC for their daybeds! :) I had to do it myself, but got busted. Now I need someone to help me hide a body! I hear you're my gal. :)

Good night friends!

I say we drag the body over to the slide at BWI and make it look like "Pennywise" did the dirty deed!

Perhaps RoyDavid can be on the look out for us. He's our double agent currently stationed at BWI and is gathering intelligence for us on some way funky lookin chairs rumored to be parked at that resort.

I finished my five nights at BC Resort ... left midday yesterday. It was so fabulous. I'm in my 60's and have stayed lots of nice places, and this is right at the top with the best of them. I did not have one complaint!

I loved everything about the place ... the Marketplace and what I thought was excellent food for such a place, the refill mug, the solarium, the landscaping, the pools were beautiful, laundry room convenient. The burgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, hot fudge sundaes at Beaches & Cream were just superb!!!

I missed the DISmeet because we had issues with my DGD and a minor ear infection on Sunday; then whenever I saw Teena in the lounge, she was talking with someone, and I'd think I'd catch her later. Too late, I remembered that she only works Sunday and Monday! But I could see how popular you are, Teena! :) Sorry I missed talking with you.

I loved our location on the top floor looking at the pool, lagoon, Broadway lights. We walked out on the sand, then near the bridge to catch some of the Epcot fireworks one night. I discovered the secret exit to Epcot ...

The place was always so clean, and every single person from desk clerk to housekeeper was lovely. Don't know if I'll go back as my DGD is growing up fast now, and don't know if we'll do Disney again but I would definitely consider it.

Any questions, just ask! Thank you all again for your help.

Sounds like you had a really great trip! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!!! :goodvibes

Another convert!

I'm so happy to hear you had a great trip and fell in love with the BC.

Sorry to hear about the flight delays. Atlanta is not my favorite airport!

I think that it is awesome that the two magical moments you chose to share were transportation based. :drive: Not always the most magical parts of a trip.

Can't wait to see pictures!!!
