OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Hi everyone,

I am back (and recovered) from our first trip to WDW, the BC and our first Disney cruise.

BC- Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Everything I could have hoped it was and more. Got in at 8:30 am, and room not ready until 3:00- but we were upgraded to full on lagoon view, so no complaints from us. :goodvibes We had CL so we hung out in the club until SAB opened, and then had a great time at the pool. No real closures during our stay, which was surprising since Deby showed up the second night of our trip. The jib slide closed once, but reopened the next day.

Loved the closeness to Epcot and DHS. Did the walk once to DHS for late EMH, but it was a bit far when pushing a double jogger. Definitely doable, and nice to know the option is there in case the boat lines are too long. Our trip was the same time as Teena's so we didn't get to meet her, but everyone else there was so nice.

Noodle swap- I only had my phone for internet, so it didn't work out to meet up with the people on either side. Having wireless at the resort was nice, but it was slow, and dropped quite a bit.
My DH went on his own (before I had a chance to tell him the codename "Mrs. Noodle") to bell services, and the person who initially helped him didn't really know about it. However, they let him back into the luggage room, and he has reported there are quite a few noodles in there. There was one particular bin that had 10-12, so they just let him grab 4 from there. He did tip them for that. When we returned them, the woman knew all about the swap, and assured him that was the correct bin. He tipped again, and thanked them for helping out. She was very nice about it, so it seems like all is well in noodleville. :lovestruc

I am happy to answer any questions and am getting my first TR together with all the photos.

Thanks again to everyone on this board for advice and help. We had a dream vacation, any my husband spoke proudly of all my planning and the Disboards" to anyone who would listen.

Thanks for the tips! I'm feeling better about the choice. We're definately not giving up CL! There is one more thing to think about though. I've always wanted to stay at the BC. BUT for about $8 more...total...we could go CL-GV at YC. I think the YC is beautiful...and I love that we'd have a guaranteed garden view and (correct me if I'm wrong) a guaranteed full balcony at YC. I know Teena calls it "the dark side" :rotfl: and I can see why, but I'm now trying to decide if the promised gv and balcony might be worth the changeover. Also...it'll be just DP and I (celebrating an anniversary) and the YC seems less crowded (lobby and CL lounge) and more quiet. Hmmm. It's a nice problem to have isn't it! It's certainly stressing me out though! It's not like we won't be back and can try the BC another time...right? Right???

And maybe Teena can come over just that one day and greet us? Right? Right???

I bleed Beach Club Blue but for the $8 I would seriously consider switching over to the GV at YC with the (yes) full balcony.

You can go over and greet Teena. They won't stop you from crossing over to the BC!

Either way, you can't go wrong!

I 100% agree with this!

I'm being perfectly honest ... the standard views are pretty bad. They are a roof or parking lot. That being said, at night, if you get one of the standard view CL rooms that face the front of the resort, you can see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. What I would do at check-in is ask if you can pay for an upgrade to garden view. There might be one available and you would probably be happier there if you actually look out at the view.

However, I suggest you really think about it. Are you really planning on sitting on your balcony much? If you have small children that are napping or if you get up earlier than the rest of the family and want to sit on a balcony while they are still sleeping, then yes, you will probably not be happy with a standard view. OR, are you like me? Check in and go to the room, walk out to the balcony and if it's a nice view, I say, "Wow, nice view" and then walk back into the room and unpack and then (1) go to a park, (2) head to SAB, (3) get a shower, or (4) go to bed. Honestly, I'm only in the room long enough to unpack, shower, change clothes and sleep and during those times I normally close the drapes and never look out at the view or lack of view again. So, give me the ugliest view at the resort, I'm not there for the view. And you are on the club level floor so any snacking, etc. I normally would do in the lounge itself.

Thanks for the suggestions Teena, I didn't see this earlier!

I know I know...I'm about to pull the trigger. Ugggh! Why is this so hard! I do plan on calling multiple times between now and then to see if CL garden view rooms exist.

Teena - taking a quick break from packing (and all my other nuttiness) to tell you that not only is Lily absolutely adorable, but I can definitely see you in her!

See you real soon!

Thanks Robyn. Can't wait to see you!!! And I finally see more of Jeanne in Lily as she is getting older. Her expressions are 100% Jeanne for sure.

TennaS, Lily is so precious the birthday pictures reminds me of my grandaughter Avas first birthday . I showed you her pictures on the fourth . I must say I really enjoyed the long talk we had .:thumbsup2
I told you that the lobby was empty while you were gone there is a whole different feeling it is hard to explain and I did tell you that . I met other DISERS at SAB and they all felt the same way we were all so happy you made it in on the 4th:dance3:
I could not persuade the others to change their plans so I am Checking in at the Beach Club on June 22 and I will meet them at the Treehouse Villas on the 30th and stay there until July 7th :cool1:I will bring them over at some point and try to convert them for the 2014 trip. Always planning for the next adventure .

I sure enjoyed our talk too! It will be nice to meet the crew!

:welcome:

:cool1:

Glad to have you joining us here.

Let us know your dates if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

I love solo EPCOT time, and you are perfectly positioned for that!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome in the thread :goodvibes I would love to be added to the list - it's always nice to know if other Dissers are there the same time...i'll be there Sept 14-17 :cool1:

Hi Everyone...Just switched my GF ressie over to BC (due to all the construction/closures when im there) and im so excited to be spening my solo trip at the BC now..cant wait for SAB :goodvibes another other tips or advice for a solo traveler staying at BC? Look like i'll be spending my day catching up on this thread :cool1:

In terms of being solo there is so much to do in that area. Stroll around the boardwalk, stroll around the world showcase in Epcot. SAB is no problem solo. Grab a chair and chill;)
You will have an awesome time::yes::

My TA checked out our dates and the PIN that I got back in February was a better deal than the Free Dining...which we thought it might be since we are going Deluxe all the way and the Free Dining at a Deluxe is only the Regular Dining, so we would have had to pay to upgrade.

Agreed. Switch to the YC and keep checking for GV CL availability at the BC!

Actually, I've already called back. :rotfl: and the CM this time told me that it wouldn't happen. She said that rooms are blocked off for each special promotion and once they're taken, they're gone. If someone cancels their reservation, the room goes back into the rack-rate pool. Interesting.

She said, like Teena, that my best choice if I stay at BC would be to ask at check-in what it would cost to upgrade to a gv room and see if I'm comfortable paying it. Gonna talk it over (over martinis!:drinking1) with DP tonight and make a decision by tomorrow. What I don't want is to obsess about it. I need to pick one.....and be super happy with it either way.

Yes, all around!

The tubes are for the lazy river. You can also use noodles in the lazy river (purchase for around $4 or $5 each) or you can just float around.

Depending on the time of day, you can sometimes find "abandoned" tubes in the river.

Yes, you can use the lounge on your checkout day, even if you have checked out.

Don't forget the lockers/showers in the Health Club as well if you need to freshen up.
Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

I'm certainly no expert, but I'm not sure that is true. When I originally booked CL, I booked SV because there were not any GV available with the 30% off discount. I checked daily and one morning one was available. I quickly called and was able to change to GV with the discount. :confused3

I hope you're right!
I'm also considering upgrading big time to a CL-LV room, but checking on the Disney website, it says my view could be of the quiet pool? While I think the quiet pool is lovely, I'd be disappointed with that view, having paid for a LV. For the money, I'd expect to see Crescent Lake, or SAB. I know some have complained about the SAB view, but I'd love it! The quiet pool...not so much.

I think you will be happy either way, what's not to love? :goodvibes

You know, my DH and I had that same conversation last night, over wine, regarding our GF portion of our stay. (We ended up switching to Poly... we would have just stayed at YC the whole 8 days, but then our plans would have been too messed up...)

See? Good decisions CAN be helped with a little sip or two!:rolleyes1

Oh, and to all those who heard me worry about the construction at the BC/YC last year, I come to you humbly with my tail between my legs. That was NOTHING compared to what's going on w/ the GF right now!:lmao: The CM I spoke to last night actually held back a little curse word when she saw the refurb list for our time there.

First HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS LILY! She is just gorgeous!

Second, HUGE shout out to the lovely Lynn. Came home from a brutal day at work (wasn't able to even leave my desk for coffee, lunch or even bathroom from 10 to 4:30, after not having breakfast! D'oh!) to a package having been delivered with my name on it. It was the TOT shirt I regretted not buying along with Mickey rice krispie treats for the whole family. What a lovely thing for a "stranger" to do! I just loved this thread.

When I saw the Disney bags I got all choked up. Pathetic!

Scott, I second the people saying GV-CL at YC. We loved the Captains Grille and found the staff to be very patient and lovely to our family.
