Old Non-Expiring Tickets Question

I am helping someone who has some non-expiring tickets from an old trip with 5 days left on them. She has already called Disney and verified the tickets are valid and that she will be able to use them. What I am trying to confirm is that she was told to just bring them with her to the gate and they'll apply them right there. I want to make sure this is correct because these would obviously be non-date based and I know the rule these days is that you must make park reservations for any tickets with no date. If this is true, should she visit guest services prior to her first park day to get this taken care of? I know it is rare for park reservations to be sold out, but I don't want her to run into a problem on her park day.

Yes, bring them to the ticket window at the park or to the ticket center at DS. My mom just did this last November with her tickets from 1994. You no longer need park reservations, those are only for AP holders or one day tickets would be to a specific park.

Thank you!

I know there are a few other ticket types that need reservations too. For example, military tickets do not have dates and require them. But I will recommend she visit DS to get it taken care of before she tries to enter a park.

oh true true. Last nov everyone needed reservations so I'm not sure what the process is in that case for old tickets. But we did convert her tickets at DS so that we werent held up at the gate losing park time. I will advise too, if she wants a keepsake to take a photo of the tickets because they do confiscate them when transferring to current day tickets!

While this is true and they will convert them to equivalent value tickets at the Park. They will not be able to utilize the new LLMP and/or LLSP advanced purchasing option.

No she should get them converted before their visit by calling (407) 939-1289 and having a CM convert the tickets and add them directly to their MDE Account. Then there will not be any delay when they visit the park(s).

So this is what she actually did. The person on the phone told her to do it when they arrive.

But that's a good point about LLMP so maybe she needs to speak with someone else.

I too have older unexpiring tickets that were converted to plastic earlier and have been added to my MDE account and I have made park reservations. AND we are staying at a Disney resort -- are you saying that we will not be able to make LLMP or LLSP purchases when my 7-day windows opens??

My parents exchanged theirs prior to the park reservation system but what they did was went to DS Guest Services.

From what I recall there is no one that can do this by phone. It has to be in person.

I would think you could make LLMP and LLSP with these tickets when you have reservations 7 days ahead while staying in a resort. Can’t imagine otherwise.

As above we just used some older non expiring and you do need to make reservations according to the rules. This is exactly what we did so I can not answer if they will work without.
I believe you said they were converted if so you will be able to see the remains days on the app as they have to be added to the MDE account. If they have not and can not be by phone DS is your best option before park days, they also seem to be the most knowledgeable.
I do not think park reservations are an issue to get BTW unless you are going during ultra crowded days like NYE.

This is NOT correct. Any undated ticket requires a theme park reservation.

Yes, your friend WILL need theme park reservations. Depending how old, she may be able to link the tickets to MDE now. If not I recommend she get it done as soon as possible after arrival whether that is Disney Springs or a park.

As a note, she will be unable to purchase/book LLMP or LLSP without the ticket in MDE.

Over the years, Disney has sold a number of different types of non-expiring tickets. I can recall when we went many years ago, they were paper tickets and not stored in any computer system. Someone at the entrance would use a manual ink date-stamp as you entered the park. I would expect for those you have to physically show the ticket to someone in Guest Services so they can verify it is authentic and still has days available on them. Clearly all of the newer types of tickets are computer generated, sequentially numbered and stored in some Disney computer system. The exact method used to validate them likely depends on what type of ticket you have. Even if the oldest tickets are in some standalone Disney computer system, they may not be linked to their newer systems, so that is why someone in Guest Services has to look up the information for you.

I also have 5 days left on non expiring tickets. Do you know what type of ticket media they’re usually able to convert over the phone? Mine are Magic Your Way tickets on plastic cards from 2006 I think. Considering using them Christmas week but will just buy other tickets if I can’t convert them til I get there.

I got more info on this by calling Disney. The tickets can be converted prior to arrival, but it requires emailing ticket services with photos of the front and back of the tickets as well as some additional information like when they were purchased, last used, etc. I'd call Disney if I were you. You can convert them once you arrive, but will need to make the park reservations prior to entering a park and you won't be able to make the 7 day advance LLMP reservations if you do it that way.

Thanks for the info! This will be on my to do list next week.

Just want to say that seeing this thread was pretty timely....

Back in May I took some old paper tickets from 2008 over to Guest Services in Disney Springs. I'd been saving them as I was convinced there were still some admissions left on them - they were originally 7 day park hoppers with waterpark and more options from a family trip.

I only expected one or more of the 'waterpark and fun/minigolf' options left but two of the four still had one-day of park hopping left. I was excited, as that would save me/my daughter a lot of money on that one extra day we were hoping to get for our November trip...the ONLY day we planned to park hop. Now we wouldn't need hopping for the other two days so I could eliminate that option.

What I didn't realize was the park reservation requirement for this one old ticket. Just took care of that today, so we're all set! Thanks for the great information.

You may also want to stop at Guest Services or a ticket window BEFORE entering a park to make sure the correct ticket is prioritized for that day. Then check MDE after entering to confirm it took the right one.

Yes - that is something I'd read about previously, making sure the right ticket is used. We're going to Disney Springs the day we arrive so I plan to go to the same Guest Services location there I went to in May to have the tickets checked, to ask them how to make sure that specific ticket is designated for the right day. We already have a two-day ticket in our accounts, but the hopper day is in the middle of those two planned park days.
