We were driving toward Celebration (I think) one day and saw a huge arch way that said Old Kissimmee ( I do not mean Old Town I know what and where that is). If I am not mistaken it had some sort of a cowboy on it. It looked like the entrance to an old part of the city. Ihad never in all my trips seen this before. I was wondering to what it leads. Does anyone know what this is . I wanted to go back and explore but never had the time. I do not even know what road it was on.

Can you be more specific. Were you coming from the East or the West? Was this in the Celebration area or further away? I don't know what arch sign you are talking about, but I do know of an arched sign that says "Historic Kissimme Downtown" could that have been it. It is east of Celebration where 17/93 meets 192. It leads to the downtown Kissimmee area which is undergoing a restoration process (and has been for a few years). If that wasn't the sign, if you can give me some more specifics I can see if I can figure it out.

THat is it!! What is it. I never got a chance to go in and was wondering if it is worth my while. I have never seen anything mentioned about it on the boards and last trip was the first time I had ever even seen the huge sign. Is it like Oldtown? If it is I will not waste my time but if it is more historic then I would be interested.

No, downtown Kissimmee is just that, a small town downtown area. It has a couple of diners, flower shop, some other small antique/junk shops etc. Also sometimes there are festivals held there or down at the lakefront that is only a few blocks away.

Downtown Kissimmee is worth a look round for a couple of hours IMO. It has some interesting shops and it will remind you of how shopping used to be before the advent of the Mall.

It's also nice to buy things from folks who appreciate your business rather than the corporate beasts that have taken over and made mom and pop businesses more or less extinct.

Have a wander round and then go to the lakefront park. It's relaxing and a slower pace of life.
