We were able to book a stay at Old Key West through an RCI timeshare swap. OKW seems to be just about the only resort without an FAQ thread. I've looked at all the pictures I could find and read the descriptions, and it sounds wonderful. I was wondering if anyone who has stayed there recently could provide any info about their experiences - building/room recommendations, on-site dining, bus service, ferry to DTD, recreation, etc. I'll take anything! Thanks.

We stayed there last year in a 2 bd villa on the first floor. It was great! I would recommend a 1st floor, it was really nice having a patio where you could eat. We were on the golf course. We also loved taking the boat to DTD. That's all I can think of right now...

We are at OKW all of the time. We purchased at OKW there during pre-sales.

It is one of WDW's "hidden gems." The rooms are huge, pools are nice, parking in front of your door usually and we've found the buses to be very, very efficient.

We try to stay near the HH, however, we have had great rooms througout the resort in almost every building/location.

Have a great time!

***Make sure to ask for a bldg that is NOT next to a community/quiet pool. I know this sounds contradictory, but we were next to a quiet pool and it wasn't so quiet at night! Glad I brought my ear plugs as the sound carried into the room.

Other than that, we loved OKW. Rooms are HUGE. Olivia's is the onsite restaurant. Try it when you are looking for a respite from the crowds. The main pool showed movies at night - not very crowded at all - kids loved that and playing in the rec hall (it's a bit dated but very homey). ENJOY!

Please rent a car if you can. We took the buses only once and it was fine, but car rental is really the way to go. If we didn't have a car, the main bldg would have been a VERY LONG walk.

Ok, I missed this when I posted my thread! I'm glad to see other people who have enjoyed it, and more recently than us. We're considering getting several 2 bed. villas for our large extended family's 2010 trip. I love the idea of movies at the pool!

I know what you mean about the FAQ thread - it's odd that very few of the DVC resorts have them. I looked briefly on the DVC boards, but mostly saw things about points and planning. I may have been looking in the wrong place, though. :confused3
