Old Chef Mickeys

Does anyone remeber when Chef Mickeys was located @ DTD ?? I know I'm not crazy ...

I remember that, it had to be in the 80s, I don't know exactly off hand. I say this because I remember one of my first times going to WDW as a kid (1983) we were at DTD and I was wondering about the restaurant that was like a boat (Fulton's Crab), and my mom told me that it was a character breakfast with Mickey and friends....for some reason my mom never booked that for us Hopefully someone else will come along and tell the exact time frame....I just remember it being there.

yes, and I also remember when the CR character breakfast was in windows on the world... the top floor restaurant.

I remember that. It was where Capt'n Jack's is now.

Sure do. They used to serve whole lobster and it freaked my mom out
she claimed it was looking back at her.

We ate there quite often back in the day.

I remember it too. We went there for a character breakfast - and still have the souvenir red plastic mugs.

My DH & I were on our Honeymoon back in May of 91 and we ate there - it was our first time eating there and absolutely loved it!!! It was a very nice sit down dinner and Chef Mickey & Minnie came around to the tables and spent quality time with you. We were surprised at the change in 96 when we went back and found that it was buffet style and at the Contemporary. In a way I wished it was the way it was originally but my kids love the buffet. I am not sure if we will eat there this time or not as we want to keep expenses low and we have T-Rex planned for my DS 9th b-day. We still may do it - who know's I can't do ADR's yet anyways. You are not crazy or loosing it - yes it was at DTD - back then Disney Village.

Yup, that is where the restaurant was the first time we ate at Chef Mickeys. For us that was in May 1995. I remember the year because I was pregnant at the time. After breakfast my two little one's went outside and played in those fountain pads. First time we had seen those and it was hysterical watching our 3 year old looking for the water.

I remember eating at Chef Mickey's... If I remember correctly, the characters were not there.

They were on the Empress Lilly for breakfast. Ate there too!

I remember Chef Mickeys used to have this to die for Strawberry soup!

I remember eating on the Empress Lilly too. It's hard to believe that's were downtown Disney now is, as I remember it being in the middle of nowhere then. I went with friends from college during our winter break. It must have been 1983 or 1984, but it was definately the year the Superbowl was held in Tampa, as I remember watching the game at the CR as we waited for our flight home.

Are you sure it was where Capt'n Jacks is now? I was just in DTD and commented on how Chef Mickey's used to be there. I thought it was in the building to the left of Team Mickey. I think it's a toy store now, but I could easily be wrong.

We ate there too, and I believe it was in the Rainforest Cafe building. But I remember further back--it was originally in the Contemporary, we took my DD2, who just became DD28 today! So it WAS a long time ago. The next trip, it was in DTD, and then back again to the Contemporary.

The Rainforest Cafe building sounds right, but I'm not sure. For some reason, I think it definitely wasn't in the Captain Jacks building.

What was the name of the restaurant in the Contemporary where the character breakfast used to be? I'm pretty sure it was a buffet. My family used to eat there alot in the 80's (for breakfast & dinner-though dinner was not a character meal).
