OKW studios?? Have you stayed in a OKW studio?

Okay I figured it out when i went back to look at the tour of the studio. The OKW studio looks just like the second bedroom in the 2 bedroom. To me it looks like the kitchenette is exactly where the extra sink is in the 2 bedroom (2nd bedroom)and the closet is just across from that sink. Am I right????

Yes, you are correct. DVC studios are the second bedroom in 2BR units. In lock-off 2BRs it is an actual studio. In dedicated 2BRs the 2nd bedroom has a few differences (no kitchenettes, no 2nd entrance, etc.) but is essientally a studio.

Well that is plenty big for us for a shorter stay with three or four people. Of course it will be weird not to walk out to the HUGE LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN.:rotfl: Oh and I will surely miss that laundry room. IF we do this...it will be our first stay in a studio.

If I had to stay in a studio, OKW is the only one that I would choose, if only for the two queen sized beds. No one is forced to sleep on a sleeper sofa and none are double sized like the other studios (the sleeper sofa I mean).

The bathroom is larger than all the other studios with the sink in the same room as the toilet and tub/shower. There actually IS room to move around in the bathroom.

Plus you have all the other perks of OKW.

After seeing the 360 tour on the DVC website I realized how big it was. It is the size/layout almost of the 2nd bedroom in the 2 br. villa. That was a really nice size room. I would have no problems staying in a studio for a short trip with 3 or 4 people. I thought it might be hard since we are used to 2 bedrooms but for a short trip this would be just fine.

The bathrooms are HUGE. I love everything about OKW. :goodvibes

I don't think the firmness of the bed has to do with age. If anything, the bed gets softer with age. I noticed the bed last year at BWV was hard, I think they are just buying very firm beds, probably to get longer use out of them.

The last time I stayed at OKW it was with 3 friends in a studio, so it was good having 2 queens. I wouldn't want to stay in a studio with a sofabed with 3 other adults. I think it's alot to expect 2 unrelated adults to sleep on a double sofabed.

True,

I was not claiming that the age of the bed is the reason for its firmness. We were at OKW in November of 08. I complained to the resort manager about the beds and she said that alot of people felt that they were too firm. She said many of them were to be replaces soon with softer models. I have a feeling that the firm mattress you experienced at BWV has been, or soon will be replaced with a softer one. The manager indicated that all newer beds purchased will be softer. The firm ones were purchased a few years ago. That is why I made the comment about the bed's age.

We stayed at an OKW studio and there were 4 of us...DH, DW, DS (23) & DD (19). We took a single air mattress for the grown children to swap out sleeping on. We moved the table and chairs to the corner and had plenty of room for the air mattress. When we left the room in the morning, we stood the mattress up against the wall to get it out of the way for housekeeping. Lo and behold, when we returned, they had left linens for the air mattress! Just a simple thing but it made an impression on us. Hope you enjoy your stay!

The only time we use a studio is for short trips of just my wife and I. For those trips we prefer studios other than OKW for the sitting area.

I have been looking at a studio at OKW for our trip down for the princess 1/2 marathon as well. It will be me, DH, DM, and DDad. We were going to do just a regular room, but for the same price when rent for DVC owners we can get 2 queen beds vs 2 double beds. The kitchenette set-up will also be a plus.

I've been tossing around the idea of booking my next stay at OKW, mainly because of the 2 beds. I do have a question, though. Everytime I see the pictures or a layout of the room, it appears that the TV would be hard to see from both beds. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yeah I could see that being the case for a lot of couples. One day but not in the very near future.....I can see my dh and I doing that. Although...the 1 bedroom might be our choice. We are so spoiled with the 2 bedrooms now.

Not a problem in the least.

Well when we stayed there in a 2 bedroom the 2nd bedroom is pretty much the size/layout of a studio and my kids could see the tv just fine from both beds.

We are checking into OKW tomorrow into a studio. This will be our first DVC stay so we are quite excited or i am to say the least. The kids are too!! I will give you an update after we are there. It will be me, DH, DS 8 turning 9 (this trip), and DS7.

Have a wonderful time! Go for it!!

Have a great trip and PLEASE do a LIVE TRIP REPORT so we can hear all about the trip and the OKW studio. Did you request a certain section?

We are in the HH section. Which will be good cause the main pool is why my DS picked OKW. Can't wait to explore OKW. We have never stayed in a deluxe since we've been married. DH wouldn't let me splurge with the extra money so i am so excited about OKW and DVC now so i can have my little piece of luxury without paying an arm and leg for it!!

I will defintely try to do some live trip report! Any pics will have to wait until we get home though.

Good morning!! We are here at OKW. DH is in shower then me. My oldest DS is still sleeping so far. I think that the studio will be fine for a shorter trip. It seems to be plenty big for us. We each have our own drawer for clothes. If we were staying longer, we would have a problem needing more drawer room. We are really enjoying our trip here as it is our first trip as DVC'ers!!:cool1:
