all WDW resorts (this includes DVC) slide comes with lifeguard - kepts the accidents down....

and yes the upkept of the slide with the lifeguard will make the fees go up slightly - anywhere from 3 cents to 10 cents a point.

Oh I really think my niece will love it!!!

someone was thinking - lots of parents have children or grandchildren - that need the kiddy pool and other children that will want to use the slide - so parents can sit in one area and see both - very smart thinking!!!

Thanks for much for these pictures! I think this is one of the best things that DVC has done. I don't care for paying for a slide, since most of my points are at OKW, but I think, in the long run, this is a good thing! It makes OKW more desireable for renters too. which means we should be able to swap our points out for Disney Cruises and other things!

Thanks again for the great pictures! Now, it really will be hard to get a parking space near the main pool, or a room even!

Glad to hear that it will come with a lifeguard!!! As for the dues, doesn't sound like much of an increase................for the safety and fun of the slide.........

Good question about the dues. I know $.03-$.04 per point was mentioned. Doc, did you get any info on this?

No- the only dues increase information I have heard was from reports from those at the annual meetings. No printed information about the slide has yet been released by DVC.

I think this bodes well for all DVCers!

The one reason we purchased DVC over all other timeshare offerings, was the impressive upkeep at OKW. If they put that much care into their oldest property we knew that we would always enjoy staying at DVC properties and not have to worry about staying in shacks as time passed.

They could have just stuck any slide on the main pool and some would have considered it better than no slide, but that slide is AWESOME! It will add to the beauty of the resort.

We will need a reconnaisance team to take photos as construction gets underway This is your mission if you choose to accept it!

Alright, so we're getting a slide. How does that design fit in with the OKW theme?

The slide is going to be located near the existing children's play area. It carries out the "sandcastle" theme from there.

Here' s a photo of that area for those who are unfamiliar with it.

Luckily, they didn't make the slide a giant pail or shovel.

Another advantage is that the shape of the OKW pool almost makes it two pools. Folks on the Olivia's end of the pool may not even notice the slide. Hopefully, the distance will also not detract from the beauty of the Lighthouse.

I think I smell an add-on...funny how just the addition of a slide suddenly -dramatically!- adds to the appeal of a resort for some members, obviously, and especially us...

Our two boys, after they passed (YAY!!) the "Slide Test" at SAB, called themselves "Slidereers"...I think Walt and Mickey would approve...

It looks like Disney is really doing this right, and that slide will be an excellent addition to OKW!!! I know our kids will love trying it out in the future - just hope we can fight our way to a 7 month reservation! I have a feeling its going to be a bit harder once that slide is complete!

It looks beautiful! I knew Disney would do a wonderful job!!! I hope this makes all those that felt apprehensive about the slide, feel better. I think this is going to be a beautiful addition to OKW.
Having a slide will not make us stay at OKW anymore than we have in the past, but as a DVC member I am always thrilled to see enhancements done at all the DVC resorts. And this is a very nice enhancement.

It makes me feel better about my concern as to how it would look and the what would happen to the lighthouse. It does not make me feel any better about the whole way Disney has handled this from the get go. As nice as the slide may be, I still would have rather not had it. It could have been worse though, it could have been Ernest Hemingway's face painted in clown makeup or something.

I completely agree that Disney handled the release of this information to DVC members very poorly. I do not own any pts at OKW but as a DVC member I am also not happy to see the total lack of communication on Disney's part to all DVC members and especially to OKW members specifically.

Thanks Doc. Great pics as usual. We did actually scoop you on this - that is my DW (Iluvdisney) got to see the sketches earlier in the week. I am glad to hear the dues won't do up much and look forward to taking the plunge. We were told the pool would be closed from this Sept till Jan - hopefully Doc is right and it will be open before XMAS - slide on!!
