OKW Rehab Buildings List - Please Report Here

We're headed down to OKW this weekend and had requested a 2-bedroom near the Hospitality House. Are they (62, 63, 13 and 14) refurbished...and if so, what exactly has been done?

Did you know that Hos. House is a booking category (like a preferred section in value or moderate resorts). You can not request it anymore. While you can request a section that is close to the section considered Hos. House. Check your reservation to see if you actually booked that specific location or not. For example mine says delux studio-near hosp. house right on the confirmation sheet. Sometimes I wonder if the CMs at MS even remember this when they make promises they can't keep.

I don't think 62 and 63 are considered Hos. House, so would be a good location to request if you are not specifically booked in that category. I've been in building 60 or 62 (w/an elevator) and it was a great location and I would not hestitate to ask for it again, but I did manage to snag a reservation for January for 17 nights at the Hos. House location.

You are correct....the 60's buildings are NOT Hospitality House catagory, but they are nearby. They are also NOT refurbished on the inside yet....just the outside.

We stayed in a studio in Bldg 35 last Dec. It was a ground floor unit. This was our 1st stay at OKW, & was the last night of our trip. (We tacked on 1 more night to our trip at the last minute.) The studio was very musty smelling. There was a nice little patio w/a good view. But there was a cluster of A/C units right there. We never bothered sitting out there because of that. The bathroom was not in great condition. We were very thankful that we were only staying 1 night in that room.

On this same trip we stayed our 1st night at BWV, which was also tacked on at the last minute. The room was beautiful, but hated the parking. We stayed 2 nights at SSR, 5 nights at BCV, & 4 nights at AKV - CL. (Also had 2 nights at the Hard Rock in between BCV & AKV.) The only room that was musty was at OKW.

So, I'm wondering, and hoping, if the refurb will take care of that musty odor. Anyone stayed in a ground fl villa that has been refurbbed? We would like to try OKW again, but don't want that musty odor. We don't know if the units on the 2nd fl would have smelled like that, or not. As I said, this was last minute, & we were happy to get it. However, I would not book OKW again if the musty odor remained.

Just got back this week from a week in OKW 3111. Refurbed, beautiful, no smell whatsoever.

That's good to know, because we have requested buildings 16 or 15 for our GV stay in January.

We're checking into a 2BR on 12/28 and obvioulsy we're really hoping for a unit that has been redone. Judging by this thread, it looks like most of the resort should be done by then.

Dh prefers a reneovated room, but the blgs I want I think will be last... (biting nails!)

In 1123 now (one bedroom) and it's done. Really nice, cept the plastic "string" to open the balcony shades will not last long. One is already broken here. Kind of a pain in the butt to open them. Gotta stick you hand behind the shade while you open them. Other than that it's nice here.

We are going Jan 15-22 and taking my BIL, SIL and Nephew. It's a suprise for my nephew! I am so excited. They have only been once and stayed at a Value Resort. They had a great time, but I'm excited to show them how the feel of your vacation can change a little by where you stay. My sister is a DVC member(SSR), but I was fortunate to be able to get a 2 bedroom at OKW by exchanging w/ RCI. I would LOVE to get in a dedicated 2 bedroom in bldg 23 and it be renovated by then, but I'm not expecting that to happen. It would be too good to be true.

When we have stayed at OKW in the past, we have always been in bldg 62. So experience ends there. Since this is my in-laws first time to OKW, I just prefer not to be in the back. I would like to be closer to the HH.

Building 23 is in a special booking catagory, so if your RCI exchange states that you will be in the Hospitality House booking catagory, you're in luck. If not, don't expect to be in building 23.

Also, my feeling is the direct opposite of yours, and I have stayed at OKW 30-40 times. Our favorite area is South Point. Sure, it's at the far end of the resort, but it is also the SECOND bus stop when you come in from the parks, so you are 'home' quickly. Add to that the nice quiet atmosphere and the spectacular views (especially from 45 and 46), and it can't be beat.

Yes, they are supposed to be done by March.

We were at OKW last week - building 21 was being renovated. We stayed in a renovated 1br in building 14. We thought it turned out very nice.
