OKW Rehab Buildings List - Please Report Here

I spoke to someone at the OKW front desk today trying to get information about the refurbishment schedule for HH buildings. She did not know which buildings were scheduled to be worked on next or when HH buildings would be finished. However she did say that buildings 34, 35, 51, and 53 are finished.

When talking to someone at the front desk, it's always best to speak to the manager on duty. They usually have more "real" information.

I seem to have read elsewhere on the boards that HH are is done with rehabs now too. Anyone know for sure? Anyone there now that can tell us what is being worked on now? I'm going to guess Miller's Road.

I know for sure building 12 was done. I was in room 1222 last week.

I called the resort directly tonight and the manager said that the 30s and 40s are done. The 50s will be done by the time we go in late November 2010. It was like pulling teeth, though. They reacted like I was asking the craziest question.

Long before that! It's supposed to be done March 2011.

Buildings 11-14 are HH as are buildings 23-26.

I can confirm building 32 is done, stayed there 2 weeks ago and had an amazing time.

Couldnt see any refurbishment being done while we was there apart from painting the bus stops, lol.

It has been 3 weeks, but we were in building 16(1612) a 2 bedroom and also had a GV(for extended family) upstairs which was just as bad, both really in poor condition, needs alot of repair/cleanup, there was alot of work going on at villas across the street from HH, even on the Sunday we checked in.

Like the HH category buildings had work going on or buildings 62-64? Just curious, I requested 62 in Jan.

62-64 were the last buildings done for exterior, so I'm assuming they will be the last ones done on the interior as well, since they definitely seem to be following the same schedule for interior rehab that they did for exterior. I'm guessing that it might depend on how fast they can get the rest of the buildings done. We requested buildings 15 or 16 for a GV in January, and I'm thinking we could be on the cusp for that as well. I love the GVs in building 15.

I have been looking at the redone rooms on allearsnet.com and
they sure look great. I love, love and love OKW and love it and miss it even more after staying at some of the other resorts lately.

The buildings I saw alot of construction vans/trucks were right across from the HH, 11 thru 14, it looked like the whole parking lot was closed, they may have beer renovating all of them??

I hope if you get a GV in building 16 it is cleaner than the one extended family had, stains on couch, scuff marks, corners where the vac never touched the carpet, looked to be just pure lazy housekeeping, the 2 bedroom downstairs had broken blinds on patio door, could not raise or open them, broken blinds on window behind couch, and in 2nd bedroom, and housekeepping issues..broken cofee pot, 2 burned out lights no cleaning products or towels in kitchen, and dusty..
But the view was wonderful, we were at OKW, our daughter had her Disney wedding and we were happy..and we plan on going back next October!!

That sounds typical for a "soon to be renovated" unit. I certainly hope all those things were reported to the manager AND housekeeping and maintenance while you were there. It would be too bad if someone didn't let the "powers that be" know so it could be rectified. The first time we had a GV, it too was in a "soon to be renovated" unit, and the person who checked us in apologized for it before we even got there. It was indeed a little run down, but nothing like what you described, and certainly didn't ruin our trip.

We stayed in a studio in Bldg 35 last Dec. It was a ground floor unit. This was our 1st stay at OKW, & was the last night of our trip. (We tacked on 1 more night to our trip at the last minute.) The studio was very musty smelling. There was a nice little patio w/a good view. But there was a cluster of A/C units right there. We never bothered sitting out there because of that. The bathroom was not in great condition. We were very thankful that we were only staying 1 night in that room.

On this same trip we stayed our 1st night at BWV, which was also tacked on at the last minute. The room was beautiful, but hated the parking. We stayed 2 nights at SSR, 5 nights at BCV, & 4 nights at AKV - CL. (Also had 2 nights at the Hard Rock in between BCV & AKV.) The only room that was musty was at OKW.

So, I'm wondering, and hoping, if the refurb will take care of that musty odor. Anyone stayed in a ground fl villa that has been refurbbed? We would like to try OKW again, but don't want that musty odor. We don't know if the units on the 2nd fl would have smelled like that, or not. As I said, this was last minute, & we were happy to get it. However, I would not book OKW again if the musty odor remained.

We sure did report it, housekeeping was quick to restock the kitchen, maintance replaced the lightbulbs, our guests said as long as the kitchen and bathrooms were cleaned(which they were) they could live with some dust in the GV..we were offered different units but they would not have been together and since our daughter already had plans in place for wedding transportation and such we did not want to upset the apple cart.
Hey we still LOVE OKW been members since 1995, and planning a trip for next year to celebrate her 1st anniversary, if you have a daughter a Disney Wedding..purely Magical

We're headed down to OKW this weekend and had requested a 2-bedroom near the Hospitality House. Are they (62, 63, 13 and 14) refurbished...and if so, what exactly has been done?
