OKW joined studios?? Do the have them??

Hi,

Planning a trip with my family. My mother will be joining us. Just wondering...Does OKW offer studios that connect? I thought it might be nice to have my mother close by. (my husband may shoot me though )

No, the closest you will be is in the same building. Most OKW buildings are arranged with the lock off units on the outside ends of each building. That means the only thing connecting to your studio would be the 1 bedroom portion of the lock-off. She could likely be directly above or below you though, but would more than likely just be in the same building, and could be using a different stairway etc.

Why not get a 2 bedroom lock off? That way she will be in the studio portion, and you can choose to lock the door between so she can only access your unit by knocking.

OKW does have some studios adjacent to each other- but there is no connecting door between them. You could request such an arangement, but it could not be guaranteed.

The Inn rooms at VB are the only DVC rooms that commect other than lock-off 2BR villas.

When we had a two-bedroom lockoff at BCV all the room keys issued opened both entry doors. Do they do it differently at OKW? Or is it something you can request?

No, it is the same, but if the connecting door is locked AND the exterior door to the one bedroom portion is locked, the person in the studio portion could not access the one bedroom even with a key.

since your husband doesn't want your mother that close. I would go with 2 studios and try for the same building.

with my family I like the studios to be in separate building......

there are no guaranteeds - however OKW will definitely try to get your studios in the same building. have the reservation linked.

My mother is willing to babysit for us a couple of nights. I thought it would be nice to have the two rooms joined so that it would be easier for her.

I think being in the same building would be fine too.
