OKW and sleeping arrangements

Hi! I am really racking my brain over this one and I don't know why!!!! I am staying @ OKW Sep 6th-12th with myself, DH, DS (3), DSIL, and DBIL. We are getting the two bedroom. Anyway, I booked this trip over a year ago and then my DSIL and DBIL decided to go, so we switched it to the 2 bedroom, which we are excited about. The deal was I would take the Master bedroom since it was my vacation originally and I paid an extra 100.00 to have it so it was fair. Now that I'm really thinking about it, I don't know where I will put my son????? Here are my options:

I can take the King bed and bring DS Ready bed (like a air matrress sleeping bag) and put him on the floor in that room (the floor skeeves me though, that's why I have reservations about it)

I could have him sleep with us (DH is opposed to this because he's afraid when we get home we will have him in bed with us every night)

I could put him on the pull out couch in the living room (he goes to bed at 7:00 pm though and we want to be able to hang out in the living room). Plus, it makes me nervous because the balcony is right there and he is an adventerous little boy.

Or, I could just break down and take the bedroom with the two queen beds and get bed rails and be done with it.

I really had my heart set on the nice bedroom/ bathroom

What would you do? I need some opinions or advice!!!!!!!!!

The master bedroom wouldn't give you any more security from the deck, since it also has a door to the balcony/deck just as the living room does. If the access to the balcony scares you, I would take the second bedroom and let your guests have the master.

I just re-read your post, and now I am a bit confused. You said you reserved more than a year ago. That must mean this is a CRO reservation and not a DVC points reservation. Do you know if you have a lock off or dedicated 2 bedroom? With a lock off unit, the studio would also have access to a balcony.

I guess if you are paying extra, then I can understand why you would want the master with the Jacuzzi etc. Is your 3 year old astute enough to reach and turn deadbolt locks? If not, then I'd take the master and let him sleep in that room with you. Another option would be to put his ready bed in the laundry room. It is just off the master, and has a tile floor, so no need to get Skeevy about carpeting.

I think you would all be more comfortable if you took the 2nd bedroom with the 2 beds, I know it's not 'fair' but it probably makes more sense.

We have had this same thought if we travelled with grandparents, it would make much more sense for the grandparents to take the king room, and us to take the room with 2 beds, even though we would prefer the 'fancy' room.

It is a CRO reservation. I'm not sure about the lock off unit. We didn't care either way because we don't have anyone sleeping on the sofa bed so we weren't concerned about access to the bathroom.

Put him to sleep on the king bed, then move him out to the sleeper sofa when you go to bed. Put something in front of the door (I think the deadbolt is up high - might be wrong) to block him from opening that door. Then do the same with the one out towards the stairs.

We have stayed in a 1 bed with our 3 year old and we used to let her sleep in between us. When DD 2 came along at 3 she slept in a ready bed, DD number 1 slept in the bed with DH or myself. Then one of us would sleep in the sofa bed. I know not perfect, but neither of them wanted to sleep on their own in the lounge and we wanted the lounge for our selves in the evening.

When my inlaws came we got a two bedroom and we still didn't give up the master bedroom!

We are going at Christmas and I think we will use the mattress from the lounge and put it on the floor of the bedroom in the evening. Then my two DD's can sleep on it and we can have the bed back.

Will he sleep in a crib? You can request a crib (not the paknplay) which might allay some of your concerns about the floor etc. I understand they are not real pretty but do serve the purpose. We have used airbeds on many occasions and have never had an issue. We have also used the cushions off the living room chair or couch and made up a bed that way also. You may be able to put him down on the love seat and put a chair or two in front of it to keep him from falling off and then you still have the couch, a chair , and the table and chairs to use if you decide to stay in the room. We usually end up out on the balcony in the evening so someone in the living room is not an issue for us like it is for some. You could also put the little air bed in the room with the jacuzzi if you do not plan to use it once he goes to sleep. You will find you will have many opitons without giving up that great master bed area.

Since I KNOW a twin sized airbed fits in the laundry room in front of the washer and dryer at OKW, I am quite sure a ready bed would also. That way, he will have his own little bedroom, and wont be right where the doors are.

I second Deb and Bill- there would be no way I would give up my master bedroom/bathroom, it's heaven bring along a monitor for when you move him to the sofa bed; he'll be fine!!

Is there a cost for the crib? I was taking to my SIL about it last night and she said she thinks he'd fit in a pack and play too. He is a little guy, only 28 lbs, but he is 38 " tall, so length wise I'm not sure it will do the trick. We went last year and he was still in the pack and play, and by the time we left the parks at night he was so wiped out it took him minutes before he was asleep. Does anyone know what weight or length the pack and play holds?

My SIL is driving down, and we are flying, so I am defineatly going to have her bring the Ready bed down and I guess I can see the situation with the floor and at least I have that as a back up!!!!!!!!

I don't want to give up my master bed/jacuzzi either!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate the original poster's question and everyone's responses.

I will be enduring the same dilema next year with my sister, her family and our son (3) and daughter (1 1/2). I don't want to give up the master bedroom either!! Our daughter will sleep in a pack-n-play (hopefully), but my son...

Personally, I don't think my kids will fall asleep very well in an unfamilar place, so we'll probably try all the techniques suggested and see which one works best. The best outcome I can see is if my son will fall asleep in the master bedroom and we can move him to the sofa bed and monitor him.
