OKW and Dinsney Transportation

If your anything like me, the bus is too long. We tried it once this past August, but decided that taking the car was much faster, but then we had my DM had an ECV, so we got to park really close to the parks. Anyhow, I always like to feel that I am in control. Anyhow, to answer your question, it took about a half hour from OKW to MK by bus, close to the same by car, save about 5 minutes.

The buses ran pretty smoothly for us this past Thanksgiving vacation week. There were a couple of delays, but we expected it with the holiday week and all.

We stayed at OKW last June, and had no problems with the transportation system. The only time we had to wait for a bus more than 5 or 10 minutes was when we had just missed the bus to that park. I hate doing the drive and park thing, particularly at MK, but that's just me.

For going to MK I would recommend taking the bus since it goes directly to the park's entrance. (Just a short walk from the bus stops to the gates)

If you drive, then you have this sequence: 1. Drive and park the car, walk to the tram stop (which can be close or far); 2. Wait for a tram and then take it to the TTC; 3. Walk to either the boat or the monorail station. 4. Wait for the boat or the monorail train. 5. Travel by boat or monorail to the MK station stops. Walk to the park gates.

When the park closes, do all of the following in the reverse order.

Once the bus leaves the resort, it's only about 15 minutes to the turnstyle area at MK. If you drive, you'll have to park in the TTC parking area and then take a monorail or ferry to the MK. The bus is usually faster to that park.

For Epcot and MGM, taking the car may save a few minutes, but the bus ride to those parks is only 10-13 minutes once leaving the resort.

I've never gone to MK by car for the above reasons. I have driven to MGM, Epcot & AK, but only if it is the first park of the day and I arrive early like 45 mins. prior to opening. Other than that I would stay with Disney transportation.

Another vote for the bus. We used it lots in June and had great luck. It gets you quite close to the MK security check. Also, on the bus you pass by the entrance to the Golf Course near the Campground. Most days, just past the entrance gate on a grassy knoll, was a big alligator. My kids were thrilled and we wondered if the golfers didn't mind him! Looking for him made the bus ride an adventure.

MK is the only park I take the bus from OKW. The other parks I drive. I would suggest you do not try to drive to MK.

When we stayed at OKW in January, the bus driver stated that we would be at MK in 9 minutes as we pulled out of the Hospitality House.

MK by bus from OKW is the quickest way.

Thanks for the great advice everybody. I will be arriving at OKW on Monday and will be departing Friday. I am looking forward to checking out SSR and hopefully becoming a full fledged DVCer.
