Okay, what's the FIRST thing that tells you, "Wow, we are DEFINITELY at WDW!" ??

I think mine would be at the begining of Main Street. Your surrounded by all Disney, laughing families( for the most part) and straight ahead, the castle. Isn't that amazing that one man's dream could make so-o many people happy!! ::MickeyMo

Baggage claim B :earsboy:

I realize it even sooner. I always take the same airline to WDW (not much choice where we live). So when I get off the airplane, my first stop is always the ladies room at the gate. It's such a habit now-my first sign I'm truly home-the Orlando Airport ladies room by gate[can't remember the gate #].

I would also have to agree with most of the others the arch that says Welcome to Disney World....I love it and when you get closer to Orlando and you see signs telling you how to get to Disney World that means we are getting closer.

What dates will you be there? We check into POP on Oct 23.

We always stop at the Welcome Center in Ocala and from that point on we all pretty much giggle nonstop for the rest of the ride. Then once we go under the arch we just start screaming and bouncing. :Pinkbounc :cool1: :cheer2: I'm going to Disney World this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The purple signs always gets us going. DD always says, I see the purple signs. We must be in Disneyworld!

Seeing those purples road signs. Where else in the world do you see them? Certainly not here in NJ.

Yep, the purple roadsigns are mine too. :wizard:

The big focal point of the parks.

My favorite is walking into Magic Kingdom, making that turn, and seeing Cinderella Castle right ahead of you.

I love that feeling.. princess:

My husband would say the smell of the hotel lobbies-- I say when I get on the monorail in MCO, and catch a glimpse of the palm trees!

We are, we are! It's true! I know I am! I have not used a car & driven into the parking lot in quite some time (since vacations in the eighties w/ Mom & dad) but I always recreated the "Chariots of Fire" run from the car to the trams. This is the first time I will have a rental car & I have told my husband..it's the Chariots of Fire scene...totally!

I get goose bumps when I land in MCO & go to the monorail...all of it brings back so many wonderful memories. I am sure that is the case for everyone.

Seeing the Welcome to Walt Disney World on the street as you come into the area.

I definately agree. Last time we went in a different way and didn't go by that sign and it just didn't feel right. Later that night finace' and I went riding around and I made him find it for me! LOL

When I hit the tarmac at orlando airport :) anyone else with me? :rotfl2:

only 4 more sleeps til we (DS7 and I) do this same exact thing

For us it has always been lookimg out over the lagoon at the GF and then shortly therafter, walking down Main St. USA (our first park always). This trip we are staying 2 nights at the Dolphin(late arrival) and our first day at MGM-will we be disapointed? Any words of wisdom to ensure that Disney feeling before we transfer to the GF for 7 nights? Thanks

OK, I stand corrected, The first indication is when you arrive at Orlando airport , walk into the terminal and see everyone waiting for their flight to go back home carrying all their plastic Disney bags.

RIGHT ON :cheer2:

For me...it's seeing the castle. When we go, we usually spend the first day at Typhoon Lagoon...it's a great way to kick back and unwind and get into the 'vacationing frame of mind.' But then, the next morning, in front of the castle, it really hits me that we have arrived.

For my DH (*************) it's when you first cross under the 'Welcome to Walt Disney World' arch immediately followed by the street signs turning to purple and red.

As I was a sailor stationed at a Navy Base (Nuclear Power School) in Orlando for a little more than a year. Having gone through the airport as many times as I have, getting on the mini-monorail at MCO is like coming home again in a very strange way....and if I go North on the road leading out from MCO (twards the now-closed base), the $10 for 2 dozen roses dealers.... :rotfl: :rotfl:

But I guess for me the real sign I am in WDW is the smell of hot, wet asphault. :rotfl2: DW thinks I'm crazy, but whenever it is 105 degrees and its been raining, I get nostalgic for Disney.

This year will be our first trip home as DVC members, and we're looking forward to the "Welcome Home"! Just 79 days left!

For me, the Welcome to Walt Disney World arch; I get goose bumps every time.

I cry when I see the castle too.

For my DS, Charlie, it is when we go to DTD and he sees DQ for the first time. He always says, "AH, my kingdom. Your master has returned." :rotfl:
