I'm going to start slow with yoga and pilates, too. Even yoga left me sore when I went to that ONE class. Haven't done pilates yet.
But you ARE making a difference, Jen!!!! A huge difference!! You help so many animals as it is. You can't reach everyone, but you're getting the "parents" of your darling patients. :) Plus you physically help the animals...that's pretty amazing in itself!!

Sometimes the first two or three classes are the worst. The muscles that haven't been used in way too long are woken up...LOL! Sounds like a good way to start. I have a couple Pilates tapes and love them.

Mr. D, so glad to hear you're enjoying yourself! It's good to get out and mingle with the adults every once in a while! And just what kind of controversey are you creating on the other boards?

'DocRafiki, I admire your work. My sister does rescue work and it's heartbreaking. On a good note, I know of no one personally who breeds. I did have a friend who went to a breeder (wanted a std. poodle), but she was afraid to show her face for a while afterward. Think she learned her lesson. Especially after she saw our rescue dog we brought home and how good he is! Her reason for going to the breeder was 'I know what I'm getting, and I can't take chances because of the children.' Well, you know the answer to that!

Congrats to everyone on their weight loss'. It's not easy, making life style changes when your life is already chaotic. (At least mine is chaos!)

Hey guys, hope your weekends are going well.

Definitely congrats to everyone on this board for their weight loss. Since moving home after splitting with my ex I have lost 20 lbs!! And I wasn't doing any diet or exercise plan. I think having a job helped a lot, plus not eating out as much as I did with ex. I still have a ways to go (planning on actively attempting to lose now) to get back into some of those clothes I have been holding onto for a few years. I would love to be the size I was in HS again!!! Not too much further to go!! Pillates sounds interesting. I used to Tae Bo 3 times a week, but wasn't seeing any serious improvement in either weight loss or strength. I also used to go running...although I have sadly not been keeping up with that lately :( I also think that kick boxing sounds interesting...anyone on here try that? Tae Bo was similar in the punches and kicking, but you didn't "make contact" with anything. I think that kick boxing might be theraputic as well as exercise. I mean I punch and kick something for an hour getting my frustration and angers out without paying a the high fees of therapy!! ;)

Thanks for the congrats, Vicki and Disney845! :) That's very nice of you.

And congrats to you on the 20 lb. weight loss, Disney 845! Trying to get into the smaller jeans? A few of the 8,567 pairs you have? ;)

You need to lose weight? Am I missing something here?

I just thought this might be an interesting speculation.....I wonder if the security at Disney Quest has ever though of video taping all the players on the Sega Passenger jet sim, I have been flying on it for three days in a row, even yesterday a stupid jerk of a teen started cussing at me to "get off the machine, I wanna play it now!" so I jumped off in mid flight, he immediately crashed it, I guess to start another game. But anyhow I flew much smaller aircraft in Alaska and this simulator is really neat, I am actually considering buying one to have in my house!

But to get to the heart of this posting and I'm not sensationalizing this or making it up but an awful lot of "Arab" looking gentlemen (with kids of course) were flying it as well, they take off and love to buzz the skyscrapers, I'm really not making this up! Only one guy actually landed on a runway. The flight sim is an exact takeoff, performance rudder capable, flaps and landing gear of a 757 sized aircraft.

It just seemed so weird to watch it whith what 9/11 and and the recent orange alert and all, I think they were just having fun at our American paranoia personally.

Not to pick on you Barry, but is it just me or do you hate to be told that you don't need to lose any (more) weight? My weight is in the average range and I wear a size 6, but I know that I will feel and look better with another 10 pounds gone. To me it is clear that my percent body fat is too high. I am just so tired of people telling me I don't need to lose anymore weight. OK, rant over.

Disney, I have done Bally's version of kick boxing, Kwando. It is an excellent workout. I will say that my friend, who tends to be a more angry person than me, liked it more than me. We had to stop when my Mr. Tramp broke her finger and she had to have surgery. Does my boy look like he could hurt someone? It was totally an accident, but we never returned to Kwando. She is now doing serious biking and I am being a lazy bum. Which is about to change!

Well, let's hope Security does make tapes and they keep them all on file! That's horrible. Of course, what else would we think of. And it doesn't matter if they have kids or not. And the teenager? How rude!

I'll have to remind myself to only hit DQ on a weekday, too many kids there saturday, it was really packed, however on thurs and fri it was peacefully quiet, almost no wait for the Pirates ride.

I just went swimming a while ago, sure it was cold but the pool was heated, then it warmed up a bit and here I am wearing my black double knee Carharts (only in Alaska have I ever seen these) pants and my winter wool Canadian shirt plus I had my Redwing insulated boots on lying on the pool lounge chair sleeping and getting a facial tan, I bet I would have made front page news!
Talk about weight, I was 203 when I left Alaska but I'm 5'10" and my work has bulked me up a bit, I usually buy size 36 pants but thats to give room for the two layers of thermals I wear underneith. I bought some size 34 lighter weight pants but now after a week of swimming at least twice a day on a chicken/veggie diet I must be around 190 or less, and even they feel loose. I definately felt sluggish before and had a little bit of tummy but now I feel a lot slimmer. In Alaska its a major problem for anyone to keep slim, its the long seasonal winter, lack of exercise, lack of appropiate sunlight to stimulate the pituatary glands and such that an awful lot of people are terribly overweight. Plus because we all normally wear heavy winter clothing it hides it (sorta:p ) but mostly folks get big to build up insulation, sounds primeval doesn't it? its a fact....:teeth:

Well I'm off to Wallyworld to get me a smaller swim suit, after seeing all the busted guts hanging out at Blizzard beach I didn't feel bad at all! Comparatively I looked pretty good, but my poor son, he has such a tummy on him, when we were climbing the steps up to the twisting turning tube thingie I have to keep waiting for him to catch up, one time I was waiting forever and up he comes with no tube, poor little guy talked a guy with his family to carry his tube up! I shoulda brough my camcorder...

up he comes with no tube, poor little guy talked a guy with his family to carry his tube up!
LOL!! He's either going to be a salesman or a politician when he grows up! :sunny:

It was absolutely tropical here today....39 degrees! The snow and ice started melting. I took my dd out to the barn. The horse was in the pasture so we had to slosh through the mud to get him and bring him in. Then there's the clean up. Poor guy, had ice blocks in his hooves! Couldn't pick them out, had to let them thaw a bit. Then these great ice cubes came flying out. Ouch!

Feeling blue today....our minister was wearing one of DH's blazers and the buttons jingled when he shook his arm. Well Pastor Henry shook his arm, buttons jingled, Vicki ran from the sanctuary, crying. Crazy things set you off.

Someone out there tell me another funny story.....or share a date, an e mail, a phone call, something!!

I had a couple e-mails last night from darling heart throb! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc But I can't share what was in them.

OK here ya go!

Every single person that we work with knows that "work guy" and I have gone out. This happened because as I already mentioned it was my asistant manager who first put the thought into my head by saying we flirt and he stares at me "mesmorized" and that we should go out. Well they all also know I BLUSH horribly a lot when they tease me, and they use this method for information. So they found out after we actually went out. They all tease me horribly about this. In fact when I went into work on Friday and looked at the schedule, my head store manager had drawn a squiggle line between our names and a big heart!!! Argh!!! I was not happy, it was whited out immediately, but my manager thinks he is the funniest thing in the whole world, plus he is a HUGE gossip, so he wants to know everything!! Up until yesterday "work guy" did not know that everyone knew. I didn't want him thinking that I went and broadcast it to work though, so we talked about it. I told him about how it happened...I was worried he might be weird about it, because remember he is very shy, but he was GREAT. He said he just hadn't said anything because he didn't know how I would feel if others knew at work. He also told me not to tell anyone that I told him they know. He said he wants to mess with their heads, get back at the head manager for teasing me so much about it. Not sure how he plans to accomplish that, but can't wait until Tuesday as I am sure it will be funny.

Also, another on the cute side story about him. My friend and her husband are moving to Sarasota next week, so last night I was going over to her house for dinner and to watch a movie, I had called "work guy" to ask if he wanted to come as well. At first he said yes, but I asked him what he was doing. He had just got in from work and had started working on laying tile in his bathroom and installing the new bathtub, so of course I said that if he was busy he didn't have to come. He was the cutest thing. He must have appologized 20 times, and asked if I was sure it was ok that he passed on last night. He wanted to make it absolutely clear to me that it wasn't that he didn't want to see me or that he was blowing me off, but that he was just really involved in doing something at the time. I told him repeatedly not to worry, and that I would be a horrible person to get mad at him for turning down dinner because he was already involved with something! I think he thought I would think that he wasn't "interested" in me if he turned down my offer. I thought this was very cute. He also said that next time he would "most definitely" be free. HeHe. Last nights conversation on the phone pretty much solidified in my mind that he anticipates there being more dates in the future...of which I am most agreeable!!! :smooth:

Let's say I'm making him think about getting together again.

:faint: I'm trying my darndest, that's for sure! Putting ideas in his head. :teeth:

What?

Who are you directing that at? I am a bit confused

Jeez. I go to walmart for one afternoon and everyone posts! Doc, you've gotta stop reading the threads with the sad titles! Don't worry none of my pets, including my new kitten will be populating the world. I also get my animals from shelters. I am glad to hear some people on this board have social lives. Lord knows I don't. I was down in Faneuil Hall yesterday. The new bar that looks like cheers is pretty cute. No men to speak of, unless you count the college kid selling souvieners in a little cove next to the bathroom. That is kinda weird.

Hey Supergro....maybe I have just spaced it...but did you say you were in school? I assume so with the "Hall" reference...Where is Faneuil Hall?
