I had had a chance to take this baby for a spin.
First impressions... very nice hair dryer. A lot of things I like about it. I ordered it because of the easily replaceable parts, filters, etc.. which i simply could not seem to do with my CROC.
I was not, however, really WOWed like I wanted to be.
Quiet - YES
Lightweight - YES
Powerful - Jury is out on that one.
I have a lot of thick course hair.
I loved my CROC, and had replaced it once, because I don't think anything else is as powerful and effective at drying and styling this unruly hair.
Bear in mind, though, that I think my son could use this in his lawn care work, and blow off sidewalks with that thing!!!!
I will simply have to use this Harry Josh always on high. Low is very very quiet, but just doesn't cut it with this thick hair.
I really don't think that it has the airflow of my old CROC.
Once I put the temp setting on high, and it really heats up, it does get hot.
I use both hairdryers with the ionic system 'on'.
Even so, it did dry quickly. So, while I thought it might not, it does dry pretty fast. No problem with drying time.
Styling Results - I think with my hair, the CROC wins. I don't think I could ever find a hairdryer that would whip this unruly hair into straighter silky strands like it did.
The Harry Josh does the job.. But def. not quite as well.
End result - I will keep the Harry Josh. I just have to have a quieter and lighter weight dryer. I just do.
But, if anyone else is out there and wants the hair dryer on steroids to tame their hair. The CROC compact 5000 would be the one! I would still be using mine if I hadn't used the heck out of it and the heat element finally went out.
