OK that's it we are moving to Florida ~ Our first trip to the World; UPDT 7/12

Looking forward to reading more of your trip report :surfweb:

Hope you feel better soon.

Do hope you get to feeling better soon! Viruses sure are nasty creatures!

I'm here! Enjoying your report so far! :)

I hope you get to feeling better!!

Today our original plan was to get up in time to make it to rope drop at Animal Kingdom. However because we got to bed so late we decided we would sleep in and get up in time to make it to our 10:30am breakfast at Tusker House. We made it to the bus stop at 9:35 and waited about 10 minuets for a bus.

Our first park!!!!

Our first veiw of the tree.

Once we checked in we waited about 5 more minuets for our picture and then we waited another 5 minuets or so for our name to be called.

Disney%202011%20029.JPG

Our picture. So happy to be here. We didn't buy their picture because ours came out better. Donald really liked Jon's shirt

Once we were seated our server explained how everything would work and we ran to get our food. We were starving. We hadn't really eaten anything since lunch the day before. Since we didn't have a layover where we disembarked we didn't eat supper then. We didn't see anything open at the Orlando airport so we didn't eat then and then Everything Pop and the food court was closed once we got to Pop. We had a few snacks but we really wanted a real meal.
Some pictures....

Jon's first plate. I was really surprised when he started taking pictures of the food. He isn't normally like that but he said he wanted to remember what we ate. Can you tell we were hungry?

Disney%202011%20044.JPG

My second plate (I only had 2 plates) Jon didn't get a picture of my first one.

The characters came by after we while we were eating our first round of food.

Daisy

Goofy

Disney%202011%20048.JPG

Mickey.

I had marked down that we were celebrating Alexia's birthday because her half birthday was while we were at Disney World and we always do a little something for it so I thought why not. The server brought her a cupcake a card signed by all the characters.

Disney%202011%20042.JPG

Lexi also wanted to go march with Mickey which really surprised us because she normally doesn't do things like that or even enjoys things that loud. So that was a little bit of magic for me to see that she really enjoyed things like while at Disney.

Disney%202011%20038.JPG

Right before we were leaving Jon saw they had oranges and he thought he would get one thinking it would be a really fresh Florida orange. He brought it back to the table and looked at the little sticker on it and said it was from California.:lmao: Poor Jon he was so disappointed. Here are some pictures Jon took while we were leaving.

Continued in next post. Well I thought I was going to be able to continue it but the parents of the girl I nanny are home so I will finish day 2 after I am done feeding my family. I have it written I just have to finish uploading my photos and post it here.

Yummy! We chose not to do Tusker House and only will be doing CS at the AK on our upcoming trip. Looking forward to your "next post"...

The Mickey waffle made me smile! ;)

We enjoyed our bkfst at Tusker House last year....looks like you had fun too.

I love the characters in thier safari outfits.

Lexi's Chip & Dale tee is cute on her.

I had a chuckle about the orange...too funny..

You guys do look really happy in that picture!

I know what you mean about not being able to eat and feeling like you subsist on snacks only. I had a similar thing happen on one of our trips. Everything was closed by the time we got there, so the first good meal is always welcome!

After our brunch we headed to the safari. We only had to wait about 5 min for our truck. Our guide was ok.

Disney%202011%20095.JPG

Are we going to make it? Lexi said to me after going across the bridge that the lady needed to learn how to drive again.:rotfl:

Disney%202011%20098.JPG

Disney%202011%20105.JPG

The ever sleeping lions.

Next we went exploring here...
Disney%202011%20116.JPG

Lexi really enjoyed all the animals. I counted this as a homeschooling day because we learned so much about all the animals here. Like...
Disney%202011%20126.JPG

Disney%202011%20140.JPG

More animals.
Disney%202011%20144.JPG

Disney%202011%20151.JPG

She really liked the mere-cats. We learned from the cast member that the rabbit population at AK has been pretty much been done away with due to the mere-cats. He said they look so nice and docile but really they can be pretty mean and vicious.

Continued in next post.

After our jungle trek we decided to go to Rafiki's Planet watch. We waited about 10 min for the train.

Waiting for the train.
Disney%202011%20165.JPG

Lexi saw this sign and said no dancing on the train.
Disney%202011%20160.JPG

While here...
Disney%202011%20171.JPG

We learned more facts about our animal friends.
Disney%202011%20176.JPG

So pretty
Disney%202011%20181.JPG

Disney%202011%20182.JPG

We saw a couple characters.
Disney%202011%20180.JPG

Disney%202011%20183.JPG

There were a few more characters out but they had long lines and Lexi didn't want to wait to see them. They were not characters she was familiar with and I don't remember who they were. While Lexi wasn't afraid of the characters this trip, she didn't want to wait in line to see them either. Jon and I both agreed before our trip that we wouldn't make her ride any ride she didn't want to and we wouldn't make her see any characters she didn't want to. Neither one of us wanted to deal with any melt downs that may have happened because of something we were forcing her to do.

We went outside so Lexi could pet/brush the animals.

Disney%202011%20189.JPG

This is a good way to get rid of mosquitoes.
Disney%202011%20196.JPG

I saw huts like this while I was in Indonesia on a missions trip.
Disney%202011%20200.JPG

After this we just wandered around towards Asia and took in the atmosphere.
Jon thought this tree was neat looking.
Disney%202011%20203.JPG

Does anybody know what kind of tree it is? Jon was really impressed with all the different types of vegetation Disney has.

Jon had been taking pictures like crazy all day and our battery died. This was the only day our camera died before the end of the day. So for this day this is our last picture.

Disney%202011%20205.JPG

We came to a photopass guy and he took our picture. After that we went to Everest and the wait time said 20 min. Jon didn't want to ride but I did. It was actually a walk on. I rode 2 more times and Jon still didn't want to ride so we kept walking on to DinoLand USA. We rode TriceraTop Spin a couple of times. We were a little hungry by this time so used our first snack credit and we all got a Mickey Bar. Then we let Alexia run around in the Boneyard. Soon it was time to find a spot for the parade so we headed over to Discovery Island to do that. We found a spot right at the tape in front of It's Tough To Be a Bug. We all really enjoyed the parade.

All day Lexi kept saying she wanted to ride Dumbo and get some Mickey Ears. So after the parade we head out of the park and went to the Magic Kingdom. Since our camera was dead we didn't get any pictures. We headed right for the Chapeau Shop. Alexia knew what she wanted and walked right in and picked up the classic ears. I told her she could get any pair she wanted but she only wanted the classic ones. She also picked the color thread and the type of stitching she wanted. Here is some pictures from the next day of her hat.

Disney%202011%20249.JPG

Disney%202011%20241.JPG

After her ears were done we walked up Main Street through the castle and went to Dumbo. I had told Jon and Lexi we would probably have to wait for a long time but Lexi didn't care she really wanted to ride Dumbo. Jon didn't care either he just wanted to make Lexi happy. Once we got there we found the wait time said 15 min but we really only waited about 10. We were hungry for supper by now and talked about finding something to eat and staying for the parade and Wishes but we were all really tired so we headed back to POP and got something to eat for supper. I had the chicken Alfredo meal with Tie Died cheesecake for desert. Jon had a hamburger with the Tie Died cheesecake too. Lexi only wanted fruit so we bought her fruit since we didn't want to use a snack credit for that. After our meal we went back to our room and crashed.

Hope you were able to get some rest and feel better.

Have just read the above post - hope you feel better soon and are able to get rid of that virus :goodvibes

Sorry you are feeling bad. I hope today will be better. We had a bunch of kids and teachers go home sick last week. Yucky days make us appreciate normal days so much more. Hope you have a normal day very quickly. :thumbsup2

Hope you're feeling better!

Looking forward to reading more of your trip report :surfweb:

Do hope you get to feeling better soon! Viruses sure are nasty creatures!

I'm here! Enjoying your report so far! :)

I hope you get to feeling better!!

Thank you all for your well wishes. I am feeling much better now and am hoping to get another update done tomorrow.

I'm so glad I found this! I know how long you planned for this trip :goodvibes

:welcome:

:wave2: have just come across your TR and am loving it so far! Your DD is so cute and love the pic of her after you had just told her she was going to Disney World - she looks so excited!

We will be staying at Pop (have requested 50s building) so am looking forward to hearing your reviews of the place :thumbsup2

:welcome:

Alexia was so excited. She asked if she was going to be able to ride Dumbo that day.

We loved Pop and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Yummy! We chose not to do Tusker House and only will be doing CS at the AK on our upcoming trip. Looking forward to your "next post"...

We were very happy with the food from Tusker House. Our server tried to get us to come back for another meal that day. He said the food gets better as the day goes on.

I agree!

Lexi also wanted to go march with Mickey which really surprised us because she normally doesn't do things like that or even enjoys things that loud. So that was a little bit of magic for me to see that she really enjoyed things like while at Disney.

Yay! :dance3:

I was so happy to see that. I did forget to say that she did want me to go with her so I did but I was still so happy she said yes when they asked her if she wanted to go.

Disney%202011%20049.JPG

So nicely done. :thumbsup2

Disney theming is awesome.

The Mickey waffle made me smile! ;)
I love Mickey waffles. They are so good.

We enjoyed our bkfst at Tusker House last year....looks like you had fun too.
It was so much fun.

I love the characters in thier safari outfits.
They are so adorable in them.

Lexi's Chip & Dale tee is cute on her.
That is one of her favorite shirts.

I had a chuckle about the orange...too funny..
It was really funny. We couldn't believe it that they would ship oranges in from California. He really wanted a fresh Florida orange.

You guys do look really happy in that picture!
We were and so excited to be there at Disney.

I know what you mean about not being able to eat and feeling like you subsist on snacks only. I had a similar thing happen on one of our trips. Everything was closed by the time we got there, so the first good meal is always welcome!
It was awful. I forgot to add that we did go find a vending machine to see if we could get something to drink and eat but they kept eating our money and not getting anything out of them. I did get my money back when I went and told the
front desk the next day.

I really enjoyed seeing your pictures from inside the restaurant. The theming really looks fun in there- someday, I"m really going to check it out more carefully. Lots of tasty looking stuff on those there plates!
