Hi Everyone,
I am a brand new DVC owner (SSRS) and I guess I never really thought about it before but I think I need a DVS Dictionary.

What exactly does Sun - Thu and Fri - Sat mean? I know this is stupid but I guess I never really looked at the points pages until now.

Also, I made settlement on 2/25/10 and received a lovely 150 page book from Disney and it says I should receive a Member Card and I can sign-up for the dvcmember.com site. To register it says I need the "Club ID" I received at the time of purchase, but I purchased a re-sale so where would this come from? Also, the one-time activation code, again any idea when I will get this?

Thanks

When you look at the points chart, for a stay Sunday to Thursday nights, you would use that row for the points charged per night. For Friday & Saturday nights, you use that row for the points charged per night.

So if it says 20 for Sunday to Thursday, if you stayed all 5 nights, it would be 20 x 5. If it says 40 for Friday-Saturday, it would be 40 per night for those nights. The weekly total is 5 nights Sun-Thurs plus 2 nights Fri-Sat in the same season. So if you stayed 7 nights in the example I used, it would be 180 points total (20 x 5) + (40 x 2).

Give MS a call and they will help you login to the member website.

First, congratulations on your recent purchase. I see that Debbie already answered your question above but something you may find helpful (that you might not already know about) is that there is a point calculator available on the DVC member website that will actually allow you to pop in your travel dates, resort, and room size and will calculate for you how many points you actually need for the stated time period. You may find that easier than sifting through the point charts (I know I do - LOL).

Here's another way to look at it....it costs a certain number of points to stay for a night at a DVC resort. It costs more points to stay on a Friday night or a Saturday than it does to stay on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night.

So, if you want to stay in a studio at VWL in January, checking in on Wednesday and checking out on Saturday, the point chart says:

Sun-Thurs 13
Fri-Sat 20

Which means that the Wednesday and Thursday nights will each cost 13 points, and the Friday night will cost 20 points, for a total of 46 points.

Your questions aren't stupid by any means. When the new points charts are issued and my eyes don't want to focus w/bi-focals, I am easily confused.

Thank you so much everyone for all your help. I trully appreciate it. I will definetly call MS and get them to help me log into the DVCMember.com site.

I am really just so excited about finally making settlement and knowing that I am now part of DVC.

Hope to chat more with everyone.

The 1 time activation code will come in a separate mailing than the member Card, for security reasons. It should be on a post card.

Welcome Home!

The only 'stupid' questions are the ones you DON'T ask. Never feel bad about wanting to sponge up some information.

I have an on-line point calculator which might help you in the future to determine the points required for a vacation:
