OK My Fault, but if all studios are gone, are parks going to be packed?

This it totally my fault. We are going to Disney from Nov 11-17th. We have reservations at the GF for 5 nights at a great rate, but DH said he would be open to doing a 6 or 7 night trip splitting with a DVC resort. Of course I tried to get him to make this decision when we were 7 months out, but NOOOOOO! We thought OKW would be the best option since it is cheapest and largest room and usually easier to get into. But we can't get into any studio for the 11-14th? How does this work? I mean I fully would expect that for any kind of holiday or summer time, but this is Supposed to be a low attendance week! I am so afraid that this means the parks will be crowded. Is this normal for the week before Thanksgiving to be difficult to get a DVC studio? When my friend/rentor says "no studio anywhere", does that mean there really isnt any or does Disney hold some of them for them to sell on the Disney reservation system?

There is an inventory of DVC villas available to be rented through CRO. These are the rooms that members have traded for other options in the DVC system, like a stay at a Concierge Collection hotel in New York or a visit to Disneyland. When I decide to use my points outside the 7 Disney DVC resorts (5 on WDW property plus VB and HH) I am essentially "renting" a DVC room, then trading it for something else. DVC gives that room to CRO in order to rent it to someone esle, who will pay for it, which in turn makes the money that DVC needs to pay for my trade. Simple, right??:rotfl:

So there can be no inventory through Member Services because all of the DVC villas have been rented by DVC members, but CRO can still have some rooms available to be rented for cash by anyone with a checkbook.

Thanks DVCLiz!

I think I understand now, how CRO has these to sell. Now does that mean that CRO will release them back to Member services at some point? What if CRO doesn't sell them what happens to these rooms.

Also, to you does this mean that the resorts will be crowded since Studios ( and 2 bedrooms) were hard to get? Any idea why these three days would be difficult to get at six months out? Also do you think something might come available? Should I get waitlisted?

Thanks for any advice!

I just booked a studio last week at AKV. Wow! I hope you find something. I would keep calling. Are you on a waitlist? Good Luck!!

Don't know for sure, but that may be during "Jersey Week."
No - Jersey week is actually the week prior. I believe the actual dates (for the teachers' convention) is 11/8-11/10. The Jersey week folks shoudl be leaving on the 11th.

I think it is just getting harder to get a reservation if you wait much past the 7 month window -lots of people like OKW and it takes less points than the other resorts.

Thanks DVCLiz!

I don't really know the answers to any of your questions!!! Except that yes, I would certainly waitlist. I think most people eventually end up getting something from the waitlist, as long as they are not dead set on one particular resort.
