Thanks so much! Didn't we have a gorgeous day today? :sunny:

I actually had to spend it driving to Ohio and back for my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. It was a nice day for a drive though. Had to leave DD at home with DH since she had a tummy bug of some kind.

Tomorrow I get to do some shopping. Bra shopping (and undies too, looking for some perfect panties) Let's hope I get lucky (no wires!)

That's why I've been very brief on this thread, the tag fairy did get me on the other underwear thread. :rotfl:

I am beginning to realize that the TF can't resist a good underwear thread. Little did I know when I started this. I just really wanted to talk about bra's. What was I thinking? (besides ouch!)

We got almost the same tag from that thread! :rotfl2:

Reminder to self...don't post on underwear threads ;).

I got a tag from it...but at least it is subtle!

I hate underwire too ~ Very uncomfortable.

Does anyone remember that Will and Grace episode where Grace was wearing the water bra that sprung as leak? That was so hilarious!

No, but it reminds me of junior high school--some girls having tissue falling out of their bras. :lmao: Guess that was before padded bras, so I'm aging myself.

I've had to wear a wire almost from the minute the "girls" moved in. Wish I didn't. I always envied my friends who could pick up a bra in the $5 bin at the mall.

Amen to that one!!!!!! The only underwires I found uncomfortable, are from bras that do not fit me right.

That is absolutely the case. It's not just a matter of finding the right size bra, but also the right shape. I wore VS for years, then my body changed and they didn't work for me anymore. I went through two styles over the next 15 years, neither of which fits right now, and I'm back to VS in the IPEX, which takes ten years or a kid or both off my girls according to my DH. :thumbsup2

Your breasts change shape every 7-10 years, and with that change you need a bra change.

IMHO VS is not the best place to be "fitted." They only carry their bras, and those are generally only three "shapes." The best place to be fitted is a good department store, and IMHO the younger girls are just not trained as well as the ladies who have been fitting for years--you all know the type.

A department store--or better yet a foundation store--will have a variety of bras from a dozen or more manufaturers, and a good fitter will not only be able to get you into the right size bra, but also the right style.

I learned this from experience after spending hours trying on strapless bras beofre my wedding. None looked "right." I finally went to a "foundation store" not a VS or Fredericks type of place, but one of those places that sells lingerie of all types and can fit ladies up to 86ZZZ (or whatever the largest bra size really is). The woman who helped me took one look at my breasts and brought me the right underwire strapless. Even by looking at it I could see it was constructed very differently than all the others I had one previously. She saved me!!!

Bonnie, I LOVED that episode! She reminded so much of Lucille Ball in that one. :happytv:

When I was younger, we didn't use "tissue" to stuff our bras we used the L'Eggs pantyhose containers. Of course, you had to buy two pair so you weren't lopsided! :lmao:

Do you really think the tag fairy can leave that one alone???????? :rotfl:

You don't really know the meaning of lopsided until you have a breast feed child who prefers one side over the other! ;)

I remember when I was nursing, I could not find an underwire nursing bra, so I just wore regular bras because it felt sooo wrong to be without the wire!

And I hate VS bras....they don't hold up half as well as my $5 outlet mall ones!

I've always worn underwire bras until recently. The sales lady at Victoria's Secret convinced me to try on an Ipex, no underwire, bra there at the store. That bra is incredible!! They are expensive, but worth every penny. I will never go back to underwire again.

There are four (?) different styles of IPEX now, one is no wire the others are. I wear the full coverage original wired and LOVE them!

I went shopping today and bought an no wire Ipex and I have to tell you, this is what the girls should look like. I really like it. What a price though, I only bought one for now, so I might be going back. Very comfortable. What you think an underwire should do for you, with out the pain. ($42) They had many of them and it was the major display in the store. I was worried that they wouldn't have them because 6 months ago when I was looking for new bras they looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked for no wire. (they had one bra in my size in the whole store non wire.)

I also found some of the bras I had a link to on page 3, on sale a target. They are pretty nice for the price ($12) but no Ipex.

Oh and the perfect panty by hanes, on sale at target and whoever made the ode to them was right. (2 pairs for $5 at Target)
