OK ladies, lets talk bras, anyone else hate underwire?

I am going to see if the spanx one goes on sale. My current one is a wally world store brand and the wires poked through and cut me.Not fun at all. I thought I got a bee sting but it was my bra attacking me.
Dh does not make me get his permission but we are on a tight budget and cant afford any frivolous spending right now. I cant belive how quick people are to jump all over me and are so judgemental. I dont get it. I try to offer helpful advice if someone is asking but I dont try to make them feel like dirt. Maybe to everyone else here >30.00 for a bra is a deal but to me it is ridiculous to spend more on my underwear than I do on my clothes.I am lookig for comfort though so if I can find it at a decent price I will get one. I guess I will need thicker skin to stick around because I am bothered a lot by some of the comments made.

Oh...Snowwite...if you felt like some of us jumped all over you (me)...I am sorry ::yes:: ...but I was just a bit confused :confused3 when you said you had to "convince" DH on purchasing your bra.

Now that you have explained it more clearly...I am sorry and you definitely need to stick to your budget. Good luck as you continue bra shopping. I did check that Spanx site and that one bra you liked is $34.00.

Snowwite: Stick to the bras you are currently buying that are IN your price range but what you might want to do is make sure you wash them out in the sink with like Downy flakes or DREFT and then line dry. This will extend their life and hopefully not ATTACK you. OUCH, I have been stung by a bee and that is NOT FUN!!!!

Ahhh...we all love you on the DIS

I think I am too sensitive sometimes. Sorry if I over reacted. I am a big mush most of the time.
I used to wash my kids baby stuff in those detergents but never even thought of using them for lingerie. To be honest I just toss em in with the other whites, bleach and all.

Snow white I agree that is a lot to spend on ONE bra. And lord knows we just can't live with one bra. Now that I have one I really like I need to go back and buy more. Sure I can spend $42 no problem, 3 more would $126, $168 for 4 bras! That sure adds up fast. Especially for something most people don't see. (but it does make a difference in what they can see.) It does make an difference to me and how I feel. DH does like it when I feel sexy, he benifits in the long run if you know what I mean. ;)

Oh, and I just got back from seeing pirates II today. When I saw Kara up there swinging swords all I could think was "You like pain???????? Try wearing an underwire!" :rotfl: ;)

Oh and I have been tagged on this thread once so I feel pretty safe now. ;)

I know and I look at the cost and think I onlt spent 100. on my wedding dress how can I spend so much on a bra? But it would be so awesome not to have pain.

Note to self: How about trying not to mention your preference in unmentionables. :tink:

You got a fantastic deal on the wedding dress, but unfortunately you can't always get a fantastic deal. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and spend the money on something when it's worthwhile spending it. IMHO having a good bra is worth the money. Of course you might feel otherwise.

Yes, bra's are ridiculously expensive. But like I said, a good quality bra will last a long time--a lot longer than a $10 one in my experience. I've had my Ipex's since the day they came out more than two years ago, and launder them IN THE WASHER! and they still look like new! I kid you not. brand, spaking new! The white ones have stayed white, too, no dinge at all! :cheer2:

I've never owned a bra that held up this well. :sunny:

Here's a tip. Buy one. Just one. If you love it (and you will!) wait until the semi-annual sale that will happen again in I think January and buy a few more at half price--if you can wait that long. :goodvibes

I don't hate underwire, as a matter of fact, I couldn't live without it. Seriously.

Oh, and btw, since I don't want my girls to reach my knees by the time I am 40, I invest in good bras. They cost me about 85 EUR a piece (+/- $106), but they provide great support, great push-up and if you take good care of them, they last many years. And you also get nice lace to wear! :)

I wasnt offended. I was just upset but I am over it now.
Thanks though.
I am going to try getting the Ipex or Spanx and see if those are better.

Wearing a bra is bad enough, but underwire just makes it cruel and unusual punishment! How you could sleep in one just boggles my mind; I can barely stand to wear a t-shirt to sleep in!
Maybe I'm odd, but I have a problem with lace on a bra as well. So itchy! Try finding a nice bra without underwire or lace. When I find one that fits I buy in bulk!

I hate underwire too, alot of the time I just wear sports bras or I will buy tank tops with bras built in ;)

But then again I have small breast's (like an A cup) so I really don't need a bra anyway as my mom always says, "What are you buying bras for you have mosquito bites :rotfl: "

Thank Goodness I didn't marry a b**b guy! :lmao:

Well I am 35 and my ta ta's are nowhere near my knees so I must be doing something right. :teeth: :thumbsup2 (even 2 kids later.) :cool1:

Most of the time in my experience VS bras normally fall apart before the Hanes or balies ones. However I have to say the Ipex wireless really are great. bbangel, it is smooth and silky and great shape and comfort. I want to buy it in bulk but can't afford to. Still one or 2 really good bra's is better then nothing. :teeth:

Goobergal99, that is just crying out for a tag! :rotfl:

The last time I wore underwire, it broke through the side of the material and kept poking me in the arm pit all day!!!!!! :furious:

That always happened to me too, SO I learned to discreetly pull them out when such a thing happened.

Well Discreetly for me anyway, I was the girl who used to get changed in the middle of the hallway next to my locker in Highschool when school ended and I was ready to head to the mall. :rotfl:
