Keep all your cleaning supplies in a bucket or carry-tote that way you always have everything you need with you.
Bring an empty laundry basket with you from room to room. That way you can toss things the don't belong in that room in the basket and deposit them in the room they belong as you get to it...keeps you from getting distracted by the clutter.
I open all the windows before starting and air the house out at the same time...even in the dead of winter. Close them as needed when you leave the room.
Cleaning things I can't do without -- an old toothbrush (gets into the cracks and crevices around sinks and faucets), comet bathroom cleaner, and ammonia and newspapers (for cleaning the windows...really is the only one that doesn't leave streaks for me and the windows are really sparkly).
We have a cat that sheds black hair everywhere. I just put on a rubber glove and rub the furniture with my hand...gets the hair up easily and quickly.
I do touch ups daily during the week (like sinks, the stovetop, and sweeping and mopping the floors) but tend to put aside 2-3 hours each week to scrub from top to bottom.
Good luck and happy cleaning!!!
