OK folks...seriously

It seems weird to me too. There's no way I'd travel with a doll or stuffed animal and take pictures of them. I'd be SO embarrassed and it just seems beyond weird. Unless you're doing it as a joke. And I can't imagine ever being involved with a man who was into stuffed animals, traveling with them and taking pictures of them.

I'm don't want to judge anyone for keeping a stuffed animal as a companion. Honestly though, I just find it a little sad. If it were my son, it would break my heart.

This would is full of predators. If what you're doing isn't hurting anyone, I'm not going to judge you. We all have our idiosyncrasies.

Yes, grown men usually have more "masculine" hobbies and are not normally into dolls.

I get the fetish/cosplay/anime thing and we all have our quirks, but I don't get the man-needs-to-travel-with-his-plushies-and-share-them-with-the-DIS thing. :confused3

Aisling, your fun is a different fun. Sorry, it does not compare to the member in question. Let's be honest here... he almost stalks certain characters and always post pictures of his "little friends." Why here at the DIS... and most of his featured plushies/dolls aren't even Disney one's. lol

Just sayin', not hating... ;)

How can you get one quirk but not the other? :confused3

Is it because it doesn't meet your definition of "normal", "masculine" behaviour? Or is it something else?

Honestly I think some people are taking the thread WAY too personally and giving the OP a lot more grief than she deserves. She found something odd (she didn't bash - she said she found it odd) and asked if it was common.

The OP hasn't been around in several months and missed a lot of the controversy regarding this topic, so geez cut her some slack since I truly don't think she's baiting. Oh and those who are bringing up their young children taking a stuffed animal around with them to non park places, there is a difference between a 5yr old and a 35yr old carting around a dolly. I don't see the OP questioning whether or not a child totes around plushies, but an adult doing it.

If it were my son, it would break my heart.

Ditto, but if I'm being honest I would have put a stop to it early. My son at 4 carried a stuffed dog with him everywhere he went. At 5 we told him that it was ok to love his dog but he couldn't take it to school with him. At 6 he had given it up completely (though I still have dear old Pal...I'll never part with him).

He's 13 now. If he insisted on carrying around any doll or stuffed animal I'd have him in counseling to figure out why.
