OK folks...seriously

Just chiming in to say that over the years, I've seen MANY photos of people's dolls/plushies/whatever with them at WDW...Fluffy on Mission Space, Fluffy at Akershus, Fluffy by the pool, etc. It's just fun, or funny, for some people. Why is this so hard to understand? Perhaps you DON'T WANT to understand?

Well, let me help you.

I have 2 Pal Mickeys, one being a Sorcerer Mickey. I have a tiny stuffed bear that was given to me years ago by a special friend, and I have a shark from Finding Nemo. And guess what, they come to WDW with me every time. Am I nuts? Does it matter? Why would it matter to you WHY someone does this?

Let'e be honest here. Many of you don't care WHY. You just want to make fun. Well, make fun of me, I dare you. I'll start posting pics of my bear sitting at the Animal Kingdom Lodge with a daquiri in it's paw, and go ahead, make fun of me, diagnose me, post page after page about it, knock yourselves out. You probably have no Disney vacation to plan for and are bored silly.

Before I bought my Pal Mickey, I was in a WDW Pal Mickey swap, where Disers passed the PM on to the next person and so on. I guess we're all psychopaths. And get this, we had different outfits for the PM!

So to answer the OPs question, YES, SERIOUSLY, there are people who take their dolls to WDW and even take pictures of it, and I'm one of them.

Any more questions to help you understand? It's ok if you're slow and it takes you a long time to get it, I'll answer as simply as I can for you.

We have a relatively new Build A Bear turtle that we named Trek that we are planning to take on vacations. We are just planning on doing it for fun and to have something that, hopefully, my kids can laugh about in years to come and show him to their kids along with pictures of his adventures.

We have only been to state parks in our state so far, but the kids have had fun posing Trek in somewhat unusual ways. My parents, however, have taken Trek to Arizona where I think they had almost too much fun with Trek. They had him posed as if he was rock climbing and having to take a water break. The funniest picture by far, however, was the one where my mom was having to give him CPR because they said he had passed out from heat exhaustion. It was all in good fun and the kids thought it was hilarious.

Well said.

Seeing is believing!

Lemme look. In one of my pics, I even wrote a sign 'I Miss You" and put it in the bear's paw to email to DH when he didn't come with us one year.

Question: is it allowed to c/p pics from other posts and put them here? There's a thread of someone's Mickey plushie all over Universal, just the doll, and it's really cute. Can I re-post them here?

I really could care less if someone gets enjoyment out of dolls or plushies "past" the age they are "supposed" to. People have all kinds of quirks..makes life interesting! I dont know anyone who is "normal"!

I also allow my DD6 to bring one toy into a store with her. Keeps her entertained and her imaginative conversations and play is fun for me to witness. My older DD was never quite so imaginative. I picture DD6 as an actress or performer of some kind; or an imagineer :-)

I don't have difficulty with stuffed toys at WDW or DL but when shopping in stores or eating in non Disney restaurants? It makes me uncomfortable.

I don't have my daiquiri-drinking bear in my photobucket, but here are some of my guys. I'm like a big kid, looking forward to see what the mousekeeper will do with them at turn-down at the resort.

That was VERY VERY VERY well said :)

Yeah, it's weird for an adult to take a doll to WDW or any other place and eat or take photos with it. I'd be kind of worried if my husband took one of our daughter's Cabbage Patch kids to Disney and wanted to eat dinner with it. Gosh - I'd be worried if he wanted to take a doll anywhere. It's just not a normal thing.

Naw, of course not. Cabbage Patch dolls are way too big......

now our little beanie baby Dolly.....well she travels well. DH and I fight over who gets to carry her.

Or do I mean HAS to carry her? :rolleyes1

:lmao:

We have a Pal Mickey that we carry on all our trips, and we dress him in different outfits. My husband is all excited that my son's new Build-a-Bear Devil Rays uniform will fit Mickey and plans to dress him that way for our next trip. :rotfl:

I've happily carried around my son's stuffed animals at the parks that we buy on our trips more times than I can recall when he needs a break from carrying them, no one has ever giving me a second glance. To us, WDW is a place to feel free to feel like a kid. If anyone were to judge me for that, honestly, I'd feel kind of sorry for them, I wouldn't want to go through life always worrying that I don't fit someone's arbitrary standards of "normal." I hink it is great that there are actually a lot of people who DO feel free to be a childlike at WDW, life doesn't have to be so serious all the time. I have seen what I think are some really neat photos of people and their stuffed animals at WDW by various posters on this board, to me looking at them helps bring back a little of that childlike, carefree feeling.

I sleep with a Disney stuffed animal too. My husband bought it for me for Valentine's day because I can't sleep unless I am holding something (I used to hug a small pillow instead). It really isn't a big deal.

Ohhhhhh that is just wayyyyyy too funny! I'd love to see the turtle AND see that picture! If you get brave post it ok?

I let my almost 6 year old do the same thing...he spent the last half of our last trip at WDW carrying around the Baby Mickey we bought him like a real baby, and yes (*gasp*) acting like it was really real. Baby Mickey has also made plenty a trip to the grocery store, mall, McDonalds, etc.

I understand that if someone, as a parent, finds that THEIR particular child may have problems with particular behaviors and you want them to be curbed, and by all means be the example to set. However, not everyone has the same problems, and the same behaviors have different meanings to them. I don't mean to sound mean, but it's not the rest of the world's responsibility to be a model to your child.

Personally, I encourage my child's very active imagination, and, yes, I LIKE the fact that I still have mine and can play right along with him. I LIKE to play, I LIKE to act like a kid. I think it is a great trait to not be too concerned with other's opinions. Yes, when it comes to how to do a job or how to treat other people, etc, a certain standard is a good thing, but there are many situations where eccentricity and being different really don't, in the scope of things, matter. Honestly I find more of a problem with people who judge someone for being outside the "norm", rather they are outside it by choice or by disability, than I do with someone being different.

I know why this bothers me. I don't think it's right to normalize this kind of thing. If impressionable young children see an adult acting this way, most especially in a non-appropriate public place, it may make them more accessable to someone who may play with toys and infantalize themselves in an effort to gain the trust of a child for illegal, immoral and distasteful purposes.

(Smaller words version) If a grown, typically abled, man plays with toys, calls hmself a little baby (in a baby voice) and generally tries to act very childlike, often times it is to gain the trust of a child, in order to perpetrate some form of abuse on that child. That is why we see this kind of thing as creepy.

And, it may not hurt anyone, but this behavior shouldn't become normalized to our children, as that could lead them to harm.

:thumbsup2

I don't do it, but it wouldn't bother me to see it happening. I mean, who cares! If it makes the person happy then who the heck am I to disapprove. I would just figure they have their reasons and it's really none of my business. Everyone has their oddities.

As long as the stuffed animal/Pal Mickey doesn't take up an extra seat on the ride, I don't care if people take 'em along!:lmao:

Lol.I've never heard of that.

Maybe people bring stuffed animals to the parks/dinner so they aren't lonely?:confused3

I have carted around a 12 inch stuffed bear to WDW, Universal, had him sit up with the pilot (and get his wings), taken the bear to the kennel & vet on our pet's visit.
Many moons ago when we took DS out of 1st grade to go to Orlando for a couple of weeks, we had to take the class bear (was that some sort of punishment?), take pics & keep the darn thing's diary. Needless to say I ended up toting the thing around most of the time :rotfl:
It was an instruction, also, that the bear 'interview' people he 'ran across'.
Whoopee...

DH avoided Bear Duty like the plague.
It's a darn good thing I'm not shy.
