I'm not asking to be mean but.....

Do people (adults) really take dolls/stuffed animals to themeparks and ride rides with them and have them as a dining companion?

I've read a couple of people doing this and well....its odd to me. :confused3

Evidently this is something that happens. I try to cope with it. :coffee:

The only stuffed animal we carry is Pal Mickey. He is suppose to be your guide. No other stuffed animals, dolls, plushies etc on rides or at dinner.

I have never seen an adult with anything other than Pal Mickey or obviously carrying their child's stuffed animal.

I think people with the Pal Mickey and the newest ones in the croc exchange do it for fun. It's very funny to read those stories.

I would hope no one would do that for real though. However, years ago and friend and I went to a Teddy Bear show. People had their bears all dressed up and had some in strollers and/or baby carriers strapped to their bodies! :rolleyes1

I've bought stuffed animals at the theme parks and so I have to carry them around, but I generlly just stick them in my backpack.

I worked at a BK in a mall one year.. and went the week before christmas (incredibly busy time for us).. the only way my boss said she'd "let" me have the time off is if I took one of our Furby toys with us and took IT'S picture around the World.

Brother and I snapped a few shots but ultimately got bored with carrying around his little plastic self, creatively named Furbio, and gave it up.
Thats as close as I've ever gotten.

LOL, I have to admit, we have this little Pooh (a beanie) that has been pretty much all over the place, we have even taken pictures of it in WDW (the best one is him inside the mouth of a dinosaur in the 'Dinosaur' gift shop outside of the ride). But, it's sort of an inside joke kind of thing. Not something we take seriously.

Honestly, this is the second thread today that has made me think of furries.

Darn you, Oxfordcircus!!! :rotfl:

Not unless PAL Mickey counts, and that's my wife's thing, not mine. I got pretty sick of the thing after one day in each park and had heard what it had to say.

If people are bringing others I think it points to somebody looking for attention, somebody that needs help, or somebody that should be pointed out to security.

Pal mickey has gone around with us too. When DH and took a trip just the 2 of us, Pal mickey stayed at home.

My girls often get a new stuffed toy or bring one and carry it around. See the stuffed Ariel in my siggy picture? Like that. I get stuck holding them more times then I care to think about.
Kind of like DH getting stuck holding my purse. :rolleyes1

 The comments about Pal Mickey remind me of the day we rented one right after they were introduced. It took DW and I about 5 minutes to be fed up with him. I swear, it was like having a third kid to watch after! I recall thinking, "Just hush, Mickey... we'll take you back to the nice CMs later." :lmao:

I have a BAB named Curly that goes to the beach with us but no where else. We take photos of him on the beach as a joke for my MIL. She says that's her NC grandchild. I wouldn't dream of taking him into WDW only b/c I know I would lose him and be very upset.

When we had DISCon, a bunch of us had "buddies" many of us did actually carry around a stuffed animal/keychain/something to represent our friends. Once in a while I would pull mine out and take a pic so I could say "Jane was here having fun!" and that kind of thing. I believe mine I carried was a stuffed Minnie on a keychain. I sent her back with a story, pics and gifts about how her trip was.

I have had pooh plush keychains I carried around too, but those, I hope are a bit different.

So I've done it, but not as a "companion" It was the only way we could think of to have our friends "there in spirit" if that makes sense :)

Dolly has been to WDW with us twice now. I'd bring her again but she won't go unless we find her Mickey ears and dang if I haven't lost 'em!!

Tarzan came with us once and NEVER AGAIN. He wouldn't sit still for pics....what a PITA he was!

I've also brought a little blue plastic cow but he kept trying dangerous stunts so I decided he'd have to spend the rest of the trip in the room. Bad moo! Bad cow!!

:lmao:

I don't do it, but it wouldn't bother me to see it happening. I mean, who cares! If it makes the person happy then who the heck am I to disapprove. I would just figure they have their reasons and it's really none of my business. Everyone has their oddities.

No, we don't.

With the whole parenting gig of a child with autism, we have to set the example of how to behave and try model appropriate social situations for her.

In an amusement park where they sell toys, I can sort of understand. It is fun to play and pretend, but when you take it to the grocery store, it is no longer appropriate, imo. Some things do not belong in some places, and that goes for toys as well. (My DD really likes scary looking toys. She has a collection of rubber snakes and realistic looking spiders and tarantulas. I do not think they are appropriate for her to bring to the store. They can wait in the car for us.)

There is nothing wrong with people taking their dolls and stuffed animals with them to theme parks :) Sometimes I take my dolls and stuffed animals with me to the theme parks :) When people take their dolls and stuffed animals with them to theme parks they are not hurting anyone :) Sometimes I take my little Norway doll with me when I ride It's a Small World and it's fun and it does not hurt anyone :)
