OK DisGeeks! What are the things that ONLY we Disers know?

Sounds like the Vacation Club!

That would be correct. DVC members can stay at OKW for as little as 8 points per night. For some, I use an average of $6 per point as the cost, but it can be much lower for some members that bought years ago. So based on $6, it could be as low as $48 per night.

Even folks that rent points from members to stay can stay pretty cheap (even at $9-12 per point). For that same room, it would be roughly $72-96... that's still approx a 50% savings.

My biggest DIS 'secret' is flying SWA - a lifesaver (and wallet-saver :teeth: ) for those of us in Canada who can get to a swa airport.

OK, thought of another one....

DaVine in AK. Managed to spot her on our last trip and it was really neat. I actually had envisioned her one way and when we actually saw her it was something else entirely. Also, seeing the park guest do a major double take when they spotted her was fun too.

I have never been able to find her, is she alway in the same spot? And if so, where can I find her?
Thank you, I will be there in a few weeks and would like to see her.

DisneyForLife, we saw her several times last week, always on the path from Africa to Asia, but not in the same spot.

If you come across a large group of people you can't get around, she's probably there. :)

I would also like to know how to get a delux room for $50.00-$60.00 a night. Is it really possible??? For those asking about Gertie the dinosaur (it's the ice cream stand in MGM) I don't know if there is a secret related to it but I do know some history about it. There was a popular animator back in the early 1900's named Windsor McCay and he was the creator of Gertie the Dinosaur as well as a popular comic strip called "Little Nemo". Mr. McCay is credited with giving Walt Disney his start (I'm not sure if it was directly or indirectly) but he was an inspiration to Walt Disney and so I would believe that ice cream stand is some kind of tribute to Windsor McCay. :rose:
That is so cool! Thanks for the info!

Thank you, I will be sure to keep an eye out in that area. I guess she hasn't been out when I was there in the past because I know if I saw a large crowd I would have had to stop and be nosy. :rolleyes1

What's the neverland club and how do you get better rates by booking room only rates before and after a package?

The Neverland Club is the Kids Club at the Polynesian - where you can drop kids off from 4-12yrs old from 4pm to midnight and do an adults night out. It is set up to be Neverland, you even go thru the nursery window to get there. Most kids love it and you eat from a kids buffet served on the crocodile. You can visit it at daytime hours too - So cute!!

Booking discounted room only rates before and after a package just increases the time you can utilize whatever the package offers, say tickets, free dining etc... but not have to pay rack rate those days. If you check in at say 4pm, why pay the package rate that day since you can barely utilize the benefits. Instead get a discount code rate your first day and continue to a new reservation the next day that includes the package. We did this for the free dining package. I checked in on an AP rate of $79 to CSR the first night since we weren't arriving until 7pm. The next morning, I just went to the lobby and restarted the new reservation and received my package rate with park passes, free dining points etc... It saved me money not to pay rack rate for a night I was barely in it. Same with going home too - if you leave early in the morning. Use the last night on a discount rate instead of the package rate. It is called continuing reservations. Does this make any sense now??

I was SUCH a geek that I lifted the mat to show my dh...he was not impressed with my innane knowledge. I think he would have preferred that I had better math skills! :rotfl:

Ketchup--who needs ketchup?

-What is the "Back way" out of Main street during crowds?

Now, is the key under a mat at Muppets and a ring under a mat at Haunted Mansion? Where? At the entrance?

The key is under the mat at the Muppets. As you are going in, look to the right. There is even a sign that says the key is under the mat. Just go over and lift up that mat.

The ring at the HM is in the sidewalk. I don't know exactly where, I haven't actually tried to find it.

When there are heavy crowds, the CM's will allow people to head out behind Main Street. If you walking out of the Noodle Station towards Main Street, you will pass the restrooms to your left. Right past that is an opening that usually has cones in front of it. If you ask the CM, they will let people thru that way if it is too congested down Main Street. You get to see the behind the scenes and then end up right in front of Tony's when you come back in.

I'll have to try that-if you can only tell me what the "Noodle Station" is!! :confused3
