Ohio DVCers? Buckeyes check in here!

We live in Gahanna, northeastern suburb of Columbus and 5 minutes from Port Columbus. We own at OKW and HH. We have driven to WDW several times but it's just me and DH and we take our time and enjoy the drive.

How long of a drive is it for you guys? We live in Lewis Center so it would be about the same length for us. I'm thinking my DH and I will drive in June of 2009 for our kids-free anniversary trip. :cool1: We drive back to CT with the kids to see family and it takes about 11 hours (with stops) and it's trying enough! I can't imagine driving them to WDW.

Hey everyone,

I'm a newly addicted lurker. We're in Cleveland Heights (about 15 minutes eat of the city)

We avg 2-3 trips a year, but we're planning a huge 10 day trip in october that has to hold us over for almost 2 years.

Has anyone done the drive with young kids, under 5 ?

How long does it take to get to HHI?

It takes us about 11 hours from here. It isn't a bad drive. The first time we drove it, we stopped overnight in Asheville and the next day, the drive was miserable. We just didn't want to get back into the car. We decided to drive straight through on the way back and have never done an over night stop since. But then.....our kids are teens. That makes a big difference!!

Hey everyone! We're from Cincinnati, and we drove our last trip down. We stayed in a 1bedroom and wanted to bring groceries, etc. last time. The trip down wasn't too bad, we left at 9pm, because of son's championship bb game, stopped in Georgia, somewhere, about 5am for a 3 hour nap in a hotel, and then got up and got going. Can't even remember how long the trip was, but it wasn't too bad. We'll be at BWV 8/2 through 8/15 and are planning to drive unless we find an awesome plane rate. Flying out of Cinti is really expensive because of the Delta hub. Gwen

Thanks, Gwen I have been looking at airfare and still think we will drive. This is a bonus trip that wasn't planned and with our cruise in Sept., adding a DVC contract and a cruise in Sept, we need to be budget minded.

Where in Cincy are you? We are near Fields Ertel and Kings Island.

I was born and raised in Lima!! OH how I love this thread!!

Graduated from Elida but brother and sis went to Bath. How about you?

Not a DVC member yet (still trying to convince DH), but we live in Springboro which is between Dayton and Cincinnati. Close to you Mason and West Chester folks. I grew up in Columbus.

Hello to the Buckeye DVC'ers

We are from Cornersburg, Ohio. just outside of Youngstown.

We've been members since 2000 (VWL) added-on SSR in(2003) and talking about another add-on :cool1:
I want to thank Robin for starting this thread:wizard: I had
no idea there were so many Buckeye's on the site:confused3
but I'm glad to be a part.

Go Brown's

Hey gang....we are in West Carrollton...a suburb of the Dayton area...

we joined DVC in the fall of 2004....it was undoubtedly the best investment we have ever made together...we are talking about adding on...not sure where yet.

(the best investment separately was the $9.95 per one month to join Match.com in 2003 where we met....WOW...are we ever lucky...I met my prince and he LOVES Disney...!!)

:cloud9:

Laxmom, we have been flying recently.

When we drive, it takes somewhere around 17 hours. Mapquest has it at 15.5 with no stops. We usually eat 2 meals in the car and then stop for dinner somewhere. We usually drive back the same day, but stay over night outside of Savannah on the way down.

Southwest offers some great deals out of Columbus to MCO, so with Magical Express, the 4 of us can fly down for under $800 out the door. While it's nice to have a car when we're down there, we definitely don't need one. The flight is about 2 hours, so even with getting to and from the airport, it still saves us a TON of time! :goodvibes

Thanks, Buckeyefan. We will have 3 drivers this time so I think we are going to try it. DS wants to take a friend but isn't sure who so that makes it a little difficult to book airfare. I am keeping my eyes open though for some good deals, just in case.

Hi from another Stowbilly :rotfl2: I don't know about you, but I sure am ready for some spring around here!! Or maybe another trip to WDW will get me the blue skys and green trees I need:thumbsup2
