I just called MS with the thought of Club level AKV in mind. I was thinking of changing one of my late november nights from OKW 1 bedroom to Club level 1 bedroom at AKV(I know I can't make that ressie just yet, but I was doing my homework). I was thinking of this specifically to do the Sunrise Safari, but I wanted to check if we were able to book that SS as part of the Club level. The MS/CM I spoke with checked her screens, and it is NOT listed as an option yet!!! YIKES! I hope that is just because those booking windows are not yet open, but she said they had not gotten any information yet about it either. YIKES! I sure hope we will be able to book SS, or there wont really be a good reason for me to ever want to book Club level.

I thought AKV Club Level villas were not available until Dec. 1?

You should be able to book the SS if you are staying Club Level.

That's why I called. I was going to make a Dec. 1 ressie for a club level 1 bedroom on June 27, but I wasn't going to do it unless SS was possible. I was told as of now it is not possible to book on MS screens.

I am hoping that this information will be available to us on Wednesday when we can begin booking concierge and value levels. We'll be at WDW on Wednesday, but somehow I'm going to try to book a day at the Concierge level.

Right now, I'm trying to book a sunset safari with a stay at AKV. AKL's concierge must be swamped with calls from DVCers. I left a message with them yesterday around noon, and they haven't called back yet.

I wonder if the AKL would have that information yet, or Disney Dining (if that's how SS is booked  )?

I'm also thinking (hoping :rolleyes1 ) about change our reservations to Concierge, but I'm not giving up my Savanna view one unless all the perks are included!::yes::

Oh...OK...Sorry about that. I saw in your original post of a late November night. Hope everything works out for the SS. Keep us posted!

Yeah, that was my brain in fog mode. I forgot that they didn't open until the 1st. I'll be using OKW points, since I am out of AKV points through February '09. I was going to tack a night on at the end, but when she didn't show it as a booking possibility with Club level, I thought I should check elsewhere. I'm hoping someone who tries to book next Wednesday can come back and let us know if it is possible.

It IS possible because I asked the AKL concierge staff directly. I already am booked for the Sunset safari on Dec 1 and the sunrise safari on Dec 2 based on a cash ressie for a club level room that I made way back at the beginning of the year. I was able to make the safari reservations at 180 days out. I also emailed concierge to ask them if I switch my reservation from cash to using DVC points for club level, would my current reservations for the safaris still be good. The answer was yes, as long as I was staying club level (concierge.)

There has never been any doubt that cash ressies could book the SS, the problem is that MS doesn't seem to have that ability, and that might mean DVC point stays don't have access to it. That's what I'm trying to prove or disprove. The MS/CM I spoke with this morning said it was not part of their booking screen, and she couldn't access the AKL concierge booking. She also said it was not part of the AKV training they had received.

I don't think you can book the safaris through MS. I think you have to book them through the Concierge staff at AKL/AKV, up to 180 days (or is it 90 days?) in advance. So I would imagine the procedure would be 1) secure the concierge reservation through MS and 2) once you are within 180/90 days, call the concierge staff at AKL/AKV to book the safari.

On the other thread, someone waid you did not actually have to be in Concierge to book it, but that the cost would be different. Is that the same with DVC?

Agreed. Up to 180 days in advance directly with concierge staff.

I think the SunRISE Safari is open only to AKL/AKV concierge guests. the SunSET Safari is open to all AKL/AKV guests, but those not staying in concierge pay a higher price ($210 vs $160 for concierge guests).

Thanks, Lisa. That makes sense now.

I wonder if anyone has been successful in booking anything through AKL special events since they have booked a stay on points.

I have been misdirected by 2 people at the lodge, and in the end got the AKL event/planning tape and left a message to call me back regarding the Sunset Safari. I had done this yesterday as well, no response.

If someone has been successful...please direct me in the right direction!!

Bobbi - is there a smilie begging for help? How about if I offer flowers?:flower3:

PS. The flowers helped, they called me back.
