Oh my gosh, is this true?!

I just read on another site that, at least in Disneyland, you can wait and ride up front in the engine with the engineers on the train from Main Street station. If this is true, can you do this at Disney World?

My four year old son would just faint if he got to do that - he lives for trains and The Mouse!

Anyone know?

Somehow I think this is not true, but I think you can be a guest conductor in the back of the train at WDW. Some part of my brain seems to know that, but I don't know from where!

You can ride in the front of the monorail trains. I don't know about the train at the MK.

I think the liability of riding up front might be so great, Disney would never afford it. My son got to be conductor three years ago. What a thrill that was for a 12 year old boy.

Two years ago I took two of the three kids next door to WDW for the younger boy's 13th birthday. He looks younger and got a ton of attention wearing his brthday button. One of the pure pixie dust things that happened was that when we were waiting for the train near Splash, the conductor took him out of line and brought him into the little office to get a birthday phone call (his third that day). He then got to go up to the front of the train and be the guest conductor. Everyone on the train had to wish him a happy birthday and he got to make the station announcements and blow the whistle. It was truly magical.

Wow, what wonderful memories! My son's birthday is two weeks BEFORE our next trip so, unfortunately, we won't be able to do the whole birthday button thing.

A couple of years ago DS5 did this. We just asked because he was a real train nut.
He rode at the back with the conductor and pushed all the buttons and made some of the announcements.
We got great pictures and he had a great time!
